Ed, just heard a rumour i certainly hope isn't true but been told Jozo has refused to play since just before the Astana game because we knocked back a bid from an EPL team.

I know the issues with plastic pitches etc but doesn't explain why he didn't come back in v St Johnstone at home.

Hopefully this isn't true because we'd be in a right mess as far as fit (or settled in) CB's go ahead of the CL opener.

You heard anything similar or do you think it's just one of those nonsense transfer week stories?

Gary79

{Ed007's Note - It sounds like the kind of garbage people on Twitter would come up with.}

1.) 29 Aug 2017 12:25:06
Doubt it! Look at his recent tweet!

#UCL competition would be boring without us @celticfc 💪🍀🍀⚽️.

2.) 29 Aug 2017 12:34:11
I hope that's not true cause we would be left well in the rubbish apart from Skirtles name being mentioned it has been strikers names which have been linked no defenders yet ideal for me would be a left back playing CH for back up to Tierney just in case injury.

3.) 29 Aug 2017 12:41:31
Hi ED hearing about a boy Stocker a Swiss international have u heard anything about him?

{Ed007's Note - I doubt we're looking for anymore midfielders, Rich.}

4.) 29 Aug 2017 12:44:26
Brendan rates jozo highly so think this is rubbish and we don't need the money.

5.) 29 Aug 2017 13:08:28
On another ste its saying that 2 Italian teams looking at erik.

6.) 29 Aug 2017 13:33:28
I remember the wife saying that one of the surgeons who she worked with saying joso would never pass a medical and his condition is one that has to be managed very carefully or else he risks permanent injury. So it would take a club willing to risk it and he knows this.

7.) 29 Aug 2017 13:33:51
So the Stocker thing is rubbish too apart from the PSG guy is there any other ST names doing the rounds? We may hear later at press conference if there maybe more in S and how confident they maybe at doing business what do u think ED still confident on two ins?

{Ed007's Note - Yes I'm still confident.}

8.) 29 Aug 2017 13:33:28

9.) 29 Aug 2017 14:00:21
Who is the psg guy?

10.) 29 Aug 2017 17:28:27
This is for ed along the same lines as rangobangos post, did you no also say big jozo had issues around the time he was about away to torino?

{Ed007's Note - Yeah he wanted to play football and didn't think he was going to get a chance at Celtic.}

11.) 29 Aug 2017 18:11:40
Well Ed. Is there any chance on a new keeper coming in? Someone like dundee Scott bain would be great as l know we were liked with him before.

{Ed007's Note - No.}

12.) 29 Aug 2017 18:29:06
Sorry ed it must have been someone else cause there was more to it than that, I thought it was you.

13.) 29 Aug 2017 18:52:33
Aw leave ma big pal Craig Karate Kid Gordon Super Stopper and Sweeper Keeper in the making alone! 😂👍☘️ PS: after he tried to boot the Alloa player in the head the guy beside me said is that Kung Fu? 'Naw' ah said 'He's only had a couple of pints!

Impressive performance so far tonight. christie will be a massive player for us this season. Got to say tho Johnstone and Morgan bring a real positive, quick thinking attacking approach for us, almost like having 2 new players, think these 2 could really contribute this year. On top of what we've seen tonight we've got big Jullien to come in along with the new Israeli bhoy, Bayo, Shved and Rogic. PLenty of reasons to be optomistic. Hail hail.

Gary79

1.) 24 Jul 2019 21:41:45
Christie looks a gem. Also expect Edouard and CalMac to hit the next gear. Biton has been superb in qualifying too.

2.) 24 Jul 2019 22:03:07
Morgan was pretty useless tonight.

3.) 24 Jul 2019 22:45:52
Concerns me that Johnston and Morgan are getting the nod ahead of Sinclair, I don't think they've done enough collectively to be starting ahead of Sinclair.

4.) 24 Jul 2019 23:08:56
don't know which game you were watching, I thought the bhoy done well in his 25 minutes spell.

5.) 24 Jul 2019 23:38:56
Morgan ain t ready yet. Get him out on loan to aberdeen if they want him and get him playing week in week out.
I have changed my opinion of him. Now I think he could make it but just not ready yet.

6.) 24 Jul 2019 23:44:19
Always but always people like you find fault even if it was 10 0 please tell the fans why.

7.) 25 Jul 2019 00:57:23
MJ and LM have been excellent all pre season and through qualifying whilst SS has stagnated for about last 6 months. Guy just won't pass or provide an assist these days. Said it before, for all the tap ins he's scored over the 3 years, he's lost possession thrice as much.

I'd punt.

8.) 25 Jul 2019 08:15:27
I wouldn't punt Sinclair but Johnston and Morgan have both been great throughout pre season and in qualifiers so they deserve their chance. And Lennon is giving them it, hopefully shved is the part and we have great strength in depth in that department. Sort rb out, punt ntcham and rogic, sign a number 10 and maybe another midfielder and I'm happy.

9.) 25 Jul 2019 08:14:30
Excellent all per season against pud teams.

10.) 25 Jul 2019 09:57:25
Yernawsbaws
Had a mental block of who you meant with SS. All I could think of was Stuart Slater. 2 minutes of cold sweats thinking it was the 90s again.

Out in Paphos to get married on Monday, just getting the crew together for cup final day and off to the Irish bar next to the hotel, hope it's a belter. Hail hail.

6.) 25 May 2019 14:56:47
All the best Gary.

7.) 25 May 2019 16:01:34
Cheers all, to be honest all i'm hoping for right now is for us to turn up in the 2nd half.

02 Aug 2017 21:46:04
Great result, well done to all of them, not a classic performance but worked their socks of and personally i would have bitten your hand off for that result this afternoon. Still a bit of work to be done and maybe a couple of quality players light but as for tonight one happy bhoy. hail hail 🍀🍀.

Been reading a lot of posts from folk re Barca, Keane, Hapoel Beer'sheva etc over the past week or so and thought i'd chip in with my own opinion.

We celebrated beating Hapoel because we achieved what we've been wanting for a number of years. Keane and the likes are entitled to their opinion. it's just i wonder what the Inter Milan fans think . after all we took 5 off Hapoel at CP, they got thumped 0-2 at San Siro, so in all honesty are they the mugs Keane and others have them put down as. my opinion is absolutely not (granted we were terrible over there but we got through)

As for facing the Barcas and Man Citys of the world, they have squads worth hundreds of millions and individual players worth 50-60 million. how do we compete. pretty much like my 53 plate vw golf racing a Ferrari. nearly impossible unfortunately until the money being ploughed into these teams is on a more level playing field (so probably never) .

The CL may be a step too far this season but it will give us a better idea of the boards ambitions (seeing the gulf in quality) come next seasons campaign . do we spend big or not (prob not because we'd need anout 200 million to mix it with some of the big guns)

We asked for progress so ask one question . are we better now than last season .100%.

Gary79

1.) 17 Sep 2016 20:08:23
Yes we are certainly better, but the gap between us and the top 10/ 12 elite teams is growing by month.

2.) 17 Sep 2016 20:13:29
Gar79 I agree with your post but not your math.
Barca have players in the hundreds of millions
You'd probably have to spend 600 million just to buy their front 3 alone.
Not even 200 million would cut it.

3.) 17 Sep 2016 20:53:59
It's not just us though the top 4 leagues are ridiculously ahead of the rest because of money and the way they distribute it is only making it more a distance for the rest to catch up with for instance look at the pots for the cl they make it easier for the teams in the top 4 leagues by putting them in pot 1 and 2 I know it's not guaranteed but it makes it easier in theory it's plain corruption if you think of it.

4.) 17 Sep 2016 20:56:09
and even if we had 600 mil, would they come.

new team from 1st div one weekend, big euro game Tuesday, team bottom of the league following weekend, cup game against wee team (nodisresp) the following Tuesday.

but I suppose we could just rest the whole team and just let messi play the first weekend game himself!

Unfortunately its just not as simple as that - yeah we can scout good talent (foster, vdv, winyama et al) but they don't want to be here.

We are Moby Dick in a pint tumbler - and until we sort that imbalance, not even money will fix the issues we have.

5.) 17 Sep 2016 20:57:37
Great post Gary

I totally agree with what you are saying, Our target this season outside th SPL was to reach the CL group and that has been achieve.
We are no where near competing with the big boys and unfortunately being realistic we never will again, Yes we could have a good run and qualify for the last 16 but that the Europa cup is more realistic if we are looking to get further than that.
No one in Scotland can or will touch us in the league and that will continue for another 4 or 5 years.

6.) 17 Sep 2016 22:07:43
I think the top 3 in the top leagues yes, I think Liverpool, Spurs, maybe even Arsenal would have been jumped by Barcelona the other night, even Keanes beloved Man U would have been beat by 5, my opinion of course.

7.) 18 Sep 2016 01:54:03
Brilliant post Gary, 100 per cent with u there!

8.) 18 Sep 2016 08:57:49
just another point following the same theme

last year in the second last game in the EU at home

we were garbage in that comp and deservedly ended up last in the group - but there we were at Parkhead score was 1-1 closing stages of the game.

If we had won - they would have been a chance - a slim chance we could have got out the group.

last ten minutes to go, Delia took off Tierney and put on Izzy - straight swap.

Our opponents took off a defensive midfielder for a striker - went up the park and scored.

I want mad at getting beat - we were truly awful - but as usual after an away draw and good performance in opening game I thought this could be our year.

it was just the shocking lack of ambition and capitulation at HOME when we could have had a slim chance of still going thru.

That was the point for me when I knew Delia had lost the plot.

We are 100% better now - and getting better.

The spine of the team is cooking - Toure (short term) , Erik, Lustig, Brown, Sinclair, Forrest, Griffiths, Dembele.

I will be spewing come after Christmas/ next summer latest if we don't have:
the GK position nailed with by DV or CG coming good or back to the drawing board and a quality one brought in
LB - Izzy (no game time) and Tierney needs strengthened, even just a squaddie in from other SPFL club.
We need a GREAT midfielder
We need someone who can lead the line in defensive games and can bang em in for fun. this could be Griffiths or Dembele but as yet they can't do both things for us (Griff ain't getting picked for Scotland for that very reason. )

hey if we end up bottom of the cl group with 20 mil its better than bottom of the el group with 3 mil innit. Win the league and qualify for next years CL is a must tho - or this 20 mil earned will just be swallowed up in running costs and we will just go stale again.

27 Jul 2016 19:10:09
Couldn't catch the game today due to work but got to say i'm pretty happy with that result. They played 3 home games in CL last season against Athletico Madrid, Benfica and Galatasary and didn't lose any of them (3 draws) . They also knocked out Apoel Nicosea, HJK Helsinki and Maribor to qualify so obviously no mugs. let's just hope we can see it through and put in a performance at paradise!

The only time i saw Toure last season was in the Europa final and he was brilliant. Just done a bit of digging on him and found an article from 2 weeks ago when his release from Liverpool was confirmed and there's a large amount of their fans gutted he's moving on. They spoke of his proffessionalism, commitment, being dependable and a real decent back up for them. Might be worth taking a punt on (especially if it keeps Efe and Boyata away from the team) .

Gary79

{Ed007's Note - And yet at aged 35 Liverpool let him go.}

Biscuit, was it newco or the medias fault we played so poorly today. No it wasn't. Poor tactics, poor team selection and dreadfully poor application. Is it just me or do the players look like they're not playing for the manager!!

Agree 100% with what you have just said there mate. The managers selection raises question marks undoubtedly but the performance, application, desire and effort (things he mentions after every game) of our players was negligible. No fight, didn't win a 2nd ball never mind a 1st one, chances ppfffttt other than the offside goal not a single cross or shot anywhere near McGregor. Our run was always going to end against them but to lose it in that manner is a hard one to take.

Flat and predictable? Couldn't disagree more. I must have watched a different game to you. Yes we had a bad start to the 2nd half but in years gone bye we would probably have drawn that game after the way we started the 2nd half. However, with substitutions, a change of tactics and hard graft they done better than some would have expected and could have scored one or two more. 5 goals scored in a champions league play off. me personally i'll take that flat and predictable any day of the week.

Mickeybhoy, i remember we had him on trial and sent him back home back in 2009. Not seen anything of him lately so can't comment on his ability but always notice the name popping up.
