Hey Ed, seeing an online rumour regarding a former Celt and wearer of the famous 88 jersey - anything to add from your contact?

I'll be honest, would LOVE to see hoops back at paradise.

{Ed007's Note - Last I heard was Lennon was taking him to Bolton on loan next season. }

1.) 17 Jun 2015 17:38:45
He would be my number 1 target for this summer. Banged them for us including a few in Europe and he loved a goal against Rangers. No risks involved in signing him unlike the strikers we've signed in trying to replace him. We know he can do the job for us, hope we go and get him!

2.) 17 Jun 2015 17:42:48
Hooper isn't a lone striker it would be a bad move for the system we play he wanted out and we don't need him back!

{Ed007's Note - I'd say need or want him back. He's just another player that realised the grass isn't always greener. He said he wanted out of CFC to further his England career and he was homesick, I guess flopping at Norwich and being as far away from the England squad than Robert the Bruce cures homesickness.}

3.) 17 Jun 2015 19:21:40
Nope not for me, not because he left or anything but because I genuinely don't think he would score any more then Griffiths would if given the same game time in our current formation. Do we have any promising Strikers in the development squad these days? i'm not saying we rely on them, was just curious.

4.) 17 Jun 2015 18:37:27
Maybe he has found a Scottish Grandmother .
I am not sure about Hooper coming back if that happened . He has spent two seasons on peripher of football at Norwich. Not getting regular first team football for two seasons may dent his goal scoring skills . Unlike LM67 I do see a risk taking him back, just like other possible strikers .
We could be lucky with him , but more players are not as good second time round .

5.) 17 Jun 2015 21:55:59
does anyone else think that we should not be playing a lone striker system?

6.) 17 Jun 2015 22:20:44
Does anyone think we can afford him? They spent £5 million on him and would be looking to recoup at least that as he must have 2 years left on his contract.

{Ed007's Note - There's his £30k a week wages as well, Niall.}

7.) 18 Jun 2015 00:08:42
Himself and Anthony Stokes formed a deadly partnership , we haven't had that since he left , I wouldn't mind him coming back , in our league he is a 30 goal a season striker .

8.) 18 Jun 2015 00:41:06
Did job when he was here but I for one would not want him back. He chose to try to further his ambitions by leaving Celtic for Norwich. Did a great job of it then. Did not see a rake of clubs suddenly realising what a great talent he was. You can still stand out in a poor team.

{Ed007's Note - We need to get away from wanting players to return, it rarely works out and it's a bit of a Zombie trait. I'd like to think that under the new regime and with our worldwide scouting network we can come up with someone better than the present day Hooper. Hooper returning would damage his standing with a lot of supporters imo.}

9.) 18 Jun 2015 00:46:20
There are far better options out there than Hooper.

10.) 18 Jun 2015 07:12:21
Who are the better options though? Since he left we've signed a South American striker from La Liga and a striker from Schalke among others, you would have thought they would tear up the SPL but they didn't. We know that Hooper would and we also know he can pop up with goals in big European games, something we don't have at present. I also think that despite his lack of goals his season in the EPL would have improved his all round game, holding the ball etc which would mean he is more suited to playing up top himself. Lennon also used him at the tip of a midfield diamond a few times so he is capable of playing behind the striker too. Loan deal with an option to buy for a couple of million? No brainer in my opinion

11.) 18 Jun 2015 17:22:56
Hooper the replacement for old standby Robbie Keane?

12.) 19 Jun 2015 00:54:48
Too injury prone imo, was great for us back then. that's where we should leave it.

Still very quiet on the transfer front - guess it's become the Celtic way. Would like like one more signing, but as BR says no point in a squad player - got too many of those.

1.) 20 Jan 2017 23:41:03
As for the transfet front, is there any point in buying someone just now, use the rest of the season to unearth, develop or rediscover or reinvigorate some of the talent here already, is this tranfer window a bit like christmas, you have got to buy something just because its christmas

2.) 21 Jan 2017 00:07:39
Bah humbug aindoh . mon tae :)

3.) 21 Jan 2017 00:15:49
daily record transfer headlines today after yesterday saying a sevco player was worth 6m : LOCH NESS MONSTER TRANSFERED TO LOCH LOMOND.

4.) 21 Jan 2017 02:59:21
It's probably all quiet at Celtic cos big mooth commons is at hibs and can't tell his wee pal keevins hee haw

5.) 21 Jan 2017 02:59:21

6.) 21 Jan 2017 11:01:07
commons has been back at celtic for a week, he's been linked with aberdeen this morning.

7.) 22 Jan 2017 10:22:25
@UJ-we're all entitled to our opinion. I was simply expressing mine that your club are a festering sore on the side of humanity and that Scotland would be better off from a football perspective as well as socially, culturally and politically if it ceased to be (again) . 🍀

26 Oct 2016 13:39:44
Tried to post this yesterday but may have made the press cancel rather than submit!

BR was asked the other day about the January window and gave the standard but at the same time sensible response that only if it improves the team.

Whilst I wouldn't mind a "better" player or two coming in January, surely January should be about getting rid either for good or loans.

Bailly, Fasan, Izzy, Boyata, Efe, O'Connell, Christie, Henderson, GMS, Commons, Ciftci and that's just off top of my head.

I wonder how much the above players weekly wage is?

Are any of the above on long term deals?

Cheers bhoys, HH.

1.) 26 Oct 2016 13:57:59
There is no need to get rid of Christie and O'Connell, two of the better young talented players we have!

2.) 26 Oct 2016 14:20:48
Kenlikeeh they would be better out on loan I agree with the op maybe not with all the players but trim the size of the squad down would make sense.

3.) 26 Oct 2016 14:25:40
Or Henderson.

4.) 26 Oct 2016 15:39:53
I would keep O'Connell, Henderson, Christie and Izzy if he is happy to be cover for Tierney.

In recent years we have brought in some good players and imagine we would do the same this year as we have cl gate money to spend.

5.) 26 Oct 2016 16:49:45
I think BR will be looking to get rid of a few, he stated when he came in that the squad was far to big and he likes a first team squad of about 20.
We won't really see his team until the end of next summer.

6.) 26 Oct 2016 17:48:29
There were a few from that list I'd prefer to keep but go out on loan.

There was a post yesterday that ended up with a very good B team, even the C team would finish top 6.

Need to trim, the wages saving could be used elsewhere.

Thanks for the replies bhoys, HH.

7.) 26 Oct 2016 19:42:02
Easy to say but not many clubs are clamouring to sign many of those players. So, we either pay them off, run their contract or flog them cheap.

29 Sep 2016 08:21:34
Last night. The teams walk out - the noise starts.

Then the champions s league song come on and the noise goes up ten fold.

That's what it's all about and I'm not ashamed to say I had tears in my eyes.

Our house is a special place - well done one and all.

1.) 29 Sep 2016 10:00:05
Always makes me a tad emotional as well mate.

28 Aug 2016 12:35:58
Think this name has been brought up in the past, what about Flamini in beside Broony?

Free agent, loves a tackle and years at top level can pick a pass.

Wrong age of course but maybe a decent signing in a free.

1.) 28 Aug 2016 14:27:18
Davy Klaassen of Ajax?

2.) 28 Aug 2016 14:43:51
Klassen. what a shout mate great player.

3.) 28 Aug 2016 15:41:28
I thought flamini was in his way to turkey, either fenerbache or galatasary.

4.) 28 Aug 2016 16:08:24
Wylie I think your getting confused about where he is going, the papers were referring to him
When they mentioned a turkey.

5.) 28 Aug 2016 18:54:51
i really like the danish lad that plays with ajax …scored against us (off the bench) …beard / gruff looking but he tore celtic a new one …if you know what i mean ….

6.) 28 Aug 2016 19:17:54
Nice one pedro, lol.

7.) 28 Aug 2016 20:08:01
Paradise I think you're talking about Lasse Schone, he looks a great player. Think he's scored against us against a few times. think he's a bit of a luxury player and that's why he's used off the bench at times. I've said since seeing him about 3 years ago I'd like him at Celtic. Think he'd be out our price range though.

8.) 28 Aug 2016 21:34:24
Lasse shone is his name, I think he's a good player too, he's not a guaranteed starter at Ajax either. Everytime Iv seen him I thought he played well. Flamini would be good too if his wages aren't too much.

07 Aug 2016 19:35:35
A special mention on here for young o'Connell.

Thrown in at deep end due to circumstance (injuries and a certain bombscare) and he has been SUPERB!

So much so, that yofsy alongside Toure, I never once missed big Eric or Jozo - and that's all down to how well he's slotted in there.

With Eric and Jozo on the mend, and O'connell able to step in, I don't see much room for boyata or efe.

1.) 07 Aug 2016 21:17:53
fine point

unsung hero today.

2.) 07 Aug 2016 21:04:37
Think Boyata could learn a lot from Toure, he's got the strength pace height to be a good centre half may come good in time if not get rid.

3.) 07 Aug 2016 22:30:03
O'Connell has been excellent and Eric and Jozo will have a fight on their hands getting the jersey off him if he continues like this.

Boyata is 25 now and turns 26 in November. He has already been at Man City with Toure and some other excellent defenders like Kompany and looks like he hasn't learned much already. I don't think he will improve and I can see him leaving if someone is willing to take him.

Not sure if we are better or they are worse than last time!

Izzy having a bit of a mare, Tierney is far superior. Hurry back son.

I like the look of that. Pace wide and 3 centre backs in toure, lustig and big Eric. Looking like we are going for pace tonight with gamboa and KT getting forward when they can.

Very brave!

I'm with you Andy, and if he was injured. eboue in a like for like?

He's the boss and he's done great things - but that was a strange one.

Quick mention ti big CG couple very important saves today - well done big man.

Couldn't agree more island. Armstrong off and groffiths on changed the game - and not in a good way. Maybe the hot was knackered or injured. Eboue was surely the man to bring on and shore it up.

PR was stinking (and I'm a fan) , Erik was rotten and never saw scotty or big moussa.

Really, really disappointed with that.

Lubo and Nakia wore 25. They did alright didn't they :)

I see you point though mate, shouldn't matter what number as long as they are giving their all and producing the goods.

Aye the sacred 25, Thomas rogne :) as I said DN30, in my opinion, almost holy - in your just a number.

Like everything, everyone has their own views.

Ciftci shouldn't even have had a squad number full stop

And one last thing - imo the "7" jersey is almost sacred. Worn by the King and the true King Jinky.

Should never have been given to a lady ditch panic buy squad player. That's me, I'm done - feeling better 👍🏼😂
