Just been sent a txt saying desmond has met with rafa benitez . i like the sound of that . don't shoot me down as its a rumour
Hail hail.

1.) 26 Mar 2019 10:02:43
Swear to god if we get Benitez I will be lifted for streaking round parkhead in just my scarf and gutties.

2.) 26 Mar 2019 16:11:18
Rafa still lives in Caldy, Merseyside. His family love it there and never moved up to Newcastle. Bit of pointless info. He told me a few years back that he got rid of Robbie Keane to Celtic because Jamie Redknap told him that his legs have gone. Would love to get Rafa to Celtic Park.

3.) 26 Mar 2019 16:16:43
Benitez would be a great appointment ๐Ÿ˜ƒ.

4.) 26 Mar 2019 16:19:12
You think Rafa would be good keV!?

5.) 26 Mar 2019 18:53:37
Robbie Keane came to Celtic from Spurs not Liverpool.

6.) 26 Mar 2019 19:15:36
Hope we get him Kev will eclipse Bernie slaven ๐Ÿ˜‚.

7.) 26 Mar 2019 19:39:01
Get Van Gaal out of retirement.

{Ed007's Note - I've just finished reading this interview from Van Gaal https://goo.gl/9o1xNX and it shows again that the same long term problems at Utd are further up the tree than the manager's position. Remember I posted about what Utd's plans were and how it was the fan's pressure that forced them to change them and get rid of Van Gaal, forcing them to appoint Mourinho who didn't really want the job while there were members of Utd's board who didn't want to give him it as they felt he would always be more interested in Chelsea than Utd.}

8.) 26 Mar 2019 19:51:54
Not for me I do t like his tactics, one up top.

9.) 26 Mar 2019 20:01:02
Aye Ramsey he'd be good alright. Fantastic manager. He won the champions league with a Liverpool side that had no real right to win it.
Anyone who wouldn't have him is sniffing glue IMO.

10.) 26 Mar 2019 21:02:07
Sorry iceman it all came about when Rafa asked me which team I followed and when I said Celtic he told he got rid of Keane before he was a Celtic player on the say so of Jamie Redknap. I thought it was Weird at the time, him being the Liverpool manager listening to a an ex players opinion. I knew he was at spurs after Liverpool.

11.) 27 Mar 2019 00:36:54
Apart from winning La Liga twice with Valencia about 15 years ago and the english championship with Newcastle all he has won is cups. According to wikipedia he has less than a 50% win rate as a manager 550/ 1103. Coud he do a job for us, probably but hope not. For me Benitez has an EGO which makes the special one Mourinho look like St Francis of Asissi.

12.) 27 Mar 2019 11:40:31
not for me - he lost the plot that year when Liverpool where top and fergie turned the heat up on him - mind his FACTS statement its up there way Keegan`s rant. :) good manager but again his time has been and went. think we need someone who can continue with a similar style of football played under Rodgers.

{Ed007's Note - What style was that, the monotonous slow passing about the back and lack of creativity & urgency or the getting pumped 5-0 at home (7-1 away) by PSG style?
Yeah we've been dominating the domestic game but over the last 18 months or so the actual football we've played has been a hard watch as we consistently struggle to break teams down and there's no way passing the ball around our own 18-yard box - I've seen us taking short corners and free-kicks around the opposition's box and the ball has ended up back at our GK - isn't going to fix that.}

13.) 27 Mar 2019 13:39:56
Benitez hasn't won many leagues but he's not been in many jobs you would expect him too.

Valencia won them la Liga

Liverpool won everything except league but Ferguson was about at the time. One of the best managers ever.

Napoli he won their first cups in years and left them in a stronger position

Inter he didn't last but again Juventus has dominated that league for years

Real Madrid he didn't last but Barcelona have dominated higher profile managers than him there. They did go on and win the champions league.

Newcastle financially messed about for years. Gets them immediately back to the EPL and looks safe this year with a pretty poor squad.

Point being he's very rarely been in jobs you would expect him to dominate games except the real Madrid job. One of the most unforgiving jobs in football.

14.) 27 Mar 2019 13:53:59
I doubt we'd take those sorts of humpings under Rafa. He can organise a defence and as a tactician can go toe to toe with anybody. He seriously has his hands tied at Newcastle and is doing as good a job as anybody would expect.

15.) 29 Mar 2019 02:58:10
Donjim the list of honours u listed would look great on any managers cv mate. Rafa would be a top notch choice, he would be ma number 1 target if it was me that pulled the strings.

16.) 29 Mar 2019 20:50:49
Don't think anyone can question Rafas credentials, he's top notch. Ashley is running the club into the ground worse than he is with Sevco. Yet Rafa is still grinding out the results. I'd love it if he was at the club but I don't think he will come to Scotland as he'll see it as too much of a step down. The facts speech was cringe but hilarious also. Can imagine him coming out with a facts speech about all refereeing decisions up here we don't get. Plus it'll keep a public interest up here with Rafa vs Slippy.

Got to say im not too pleased with lennon as manager but we must get on with it . im more dissapointed with lennon saying he doesn't need to change his backroom staff . sevco wouldn't have improved if it wasnt for their backroom coaches as gerrard knows heehaw . for me we need better coaches to help lennon to improve as a manager and help our players improve . shouting only gets a manager so far . can i see this happen . well lennon said it himself so im worried that this appointment will end in dissaster but hope im wrong as its such a good time to be a celt and we should be looking forward to next season instead of moaning with each other . on the bright side . if he does mess it up i can get my boy a season ticket next to mines when were going for 1 in a row
Hail hail.

1.) 27 May 2019 21:49:04
Kennedy is a great pick for Assistant Manager. Rather him than Gary Parker.

2.) 27 May 2019 22:03:05
Why is Kennedy a good pick I mean our defense was really sorted out with his outstanding coaching expertise hosestly Lennon, Kennedy Rangers could put Greig back in charge and have good shout, worrying times.

3.) 27 May 2019 23:08:53
Kennedy is not our defensive coach. And anyway, our defence has actually been pretty decent this season. Kennedy is highly thought of at Celtic.

4.) 27 May 2019 23:33:09
Isnโ€™t it funny how we seem to get so many โ€˜new postersโ€™ when thereโ€™s something negative to comment on. Co-incidentally, they always seem to announce themselves as โ€˜new postersโ€™. Just a casual observation.

5.) 28 May 2019 08:04:01
Aw here we go with the Kennedy and defence pish again.
Also our defence has been better than our attack this season.

6.) 28 May 2019 08:43:08
COYBIG I can assure you first time ever posted on a celtic forum but have read them for years and followed celtic for over 40 years, Lennon reappointment has obviously triggered something inside me which isn't good, and I'm surprised that Desmond rubber stamped his appointment, it has got me thinking that maybe just maybe it's Lawell's ego kicking in with we can win titles with his prudence and not investment which we need, the comments about Lennon having an eye for a player, really, big clubs have a scouting dept and we currently have no one and a manager who got the bump from Hibs, I pray I'm wrong but looking at it logically I don't think I am, so negativity from a point of strength has only came into my and Loads of others thought process because of recent events,

7.) 28 May 2019 19:09:33
Was i the "new poster"coybig. i can assure u im not and have been coming on this site for over 7 years. my comments are both positive and negative when i see fit and if u read my post it isn't exactly all negative more constructive critisism
Hail hail.

Don't believe for a minute Desmond is talking club business On the golf course with people from outside the club.

2.) 27 Mar 2019 11:33:27
Mally, not that I believe that one but I know for a fact he told people Lennon was leaving on the golf course more than a week before it was announced.

3.) 27 Mar 2019 13:19:35
I am pretty certain that D Desmond plays golf for enjoyment and will play with various people whom he likes within the club. and outside it.

4.) 27 Mar 2019 13:24:05
Definitely Kev, an ego trip for Keane . The saddest thing for me was the number of our supporters who wet themselves over his signing . His signing for us was the final piece of the jig-saw in making sure he had a full house for his testamonIal.

Benkovic.

2.) 31 Aug 2018 12:16:58
Bhoy fae Leicester City.

3.) 31 Aug 2018 12:46:06
Salzburg, Rosenburg and RB Leipzig.

25 Aug 2018 13:19:09
The silence is deafening . is no news good news or are we going to be dissapointed with no new signings . i for 1 can't wait till this window shuts as its doing my nut in . i think we have been let down badly so far but even if that's the case at the window end i still think we have enough to win the league after 38 games but also if that's the case then brendan will walk at the end of the season imo . any1 with any rumours is welcome btw as i hate hearing my own thots . hail hail.

1.) 25 Aug 2018 20:21:38
honestly think we will be left disapointed : (.

2.) 25 Aug 2018 21:08:09
We could have our lot, but I don't think B R or PL come out of this well. B R was more than satisfied with the 5 players who came in Jan .
Many think these five were a waste of money . Unless Board has told P L not to buy more until we get rid of most of the 5 then he must try to bring in the players B R requests .
We cannot continue if it is thought Brendan and Peter don't have a good working relationship.

Most people are given lawwell it stinking for missing out on mcginn and probably rightly so . he got caught asleep at the wheel when no 1 else was bidding but he did match the offer when push came to shove . his job is to do the best he can with our money so u can't blame the guy when he's trying to penny pinch . he is one of the beat in the biz and i for 1 think were lucky to have him . i don't like a lot of things he does ie res12 and transfers but at least we have a solid club and not a tribute act . let's just hope mcginn gate gets him to act faster/ better with next target hail hail.

1.) 09 Aug 2018 00:10:10
what about the improvements in defence we have needed for 2 years?

and instead getting Hendry and Compper. While having Ajer (a midfieler) , Simunovic (plastic knees) and Boyata (donkey)

2 years to identify and sign players to improve that position.

The McGinn thing is just another failure in a long line of problems.

Clarke was always leaving killie . i for 1 want scotland to do well and think it would have been stupid for scotland to miss this chance at a decent manager . for once they have got their finger out and made the right appointment . sacking strachan was a mistake as he done not too bad but he was getting to that stubborn strachan era so i can see why he got the boot also . hopefully bowie will fund another good manager to keep killie on the right footing as we do need progressive clubs in scotland for us all to improve . on the fact of them bringing the game into disrepute . they've been doing that since they found out rangers was dying then carried it on to confer the tainted titles to newco . so ye they should all be charged ๐Ÿ˜‚
Hail hail.
