Stevie Clarke spotted at Glasgow Airport last night by a relative of mine. He is a 100% sure it was him.

Bankie Bhoy

1.) Aye, he wiz sittin' between Buddy Holly and Elvis Presley oan the 'plane . He looked a wee bit 'all shook up' when he goat aff .

2.) 25 May 2014 05:46:27
My mum actually works with his brother Michael. According to my auld dear Stevie is convinced Henrik will be getting the job?

3.) Here we go with the pathetic glasgow airport rumours, who cares?

4.) Could be right Sparky, so far Henkes the only man who there seems to be any real contact with? If he does come in I'd like to see an older head perhaps in a DoF sort of role. Someone with a tactical know-how, has won things and can spot a player. So far Henkes still got a lot to prove in my eyes.

5.) Stevie Clarke is from Scotland

6.) Whether on not the sightings are genuine or not, I think Clarke is our best option.Tactically good/players seem respond well to him/European experience/ is popular with other coaches/plenty contacts home and abroad/straight talking with the media and fairly dignified .Snap him up I say!

7.) 25 May 2014 16:53:38
I agree with Howie - Stevie Clarke's the man. Much as I think Henrik Larsson would bring the crowds in, he has no real management experience and could be found out at CP.

8.) He, s a good manager but personally I think we need someone who knows celtic, steve clarke could be another tony mowbray in my eyes.
Paul Lambert would be a great choice, he, s worked wonders down south and he hasn't really been backed by villa in the transfer windows, David Moyes I would also have

9.) Without a doubt Clarke knows the game inside out-supposedly he is a complete visionary with his drills etc. He was treated disgracefully at West Brom, but to be fair they seem to make it up as they go along, with everything they do. Bottom line he over achieved there, If their squad was all on free transfers I think I would only take a couple of the players, they are all very ordinary. So he would be a good choice, my only worry is he is a little defensive - he loves the counter attacking system, and with us controlling the game most of the time, I'm not sure. I would like the German coach Thomas Tuchel, timing is everything, and he resigned a couple of days before Lennon. If not him, Oscar Garcia/Stevie Clarke. Guys like McNamara/Coyle shouldn't even be being mentioned never mind favorites, they don't merit it, period! And bye the way I like both as people, but not as Celtic managers!

10.) We need someone who knows celtic, and know what it takes to be a success here. what's the point in having a german coach if he can barely speak the language and doesn't know anything about british football? its a complete waste of time mentioning foreign coaches, as for steve clarke I just don't think it will happen, don't really like the idea of him being celtic manager either but just my opinion.
i do agree that owen coyle shouldn't be mentioned, turned us down when he was offered so no chance! a don't like the guy at all, personally I would be gunning for Moyes but the 3 man shortlist should be Moyes, lambert and malky mackay.
A hadnt even heard of oscar garcia until he was mentioned on this, same with the german

11.) It doesn't matter if you have heard of the German coach or not, what matters is he is regarded as the next big thing in Germany, he is being called the next Klopp, everybody in the game has certainly heard of him. He has knocked back Schalke/Leverkusen that I know of, Tottenham have been quoted as interested also, and more to the point he has just resigned - stating he has taken Mainz as far as he could. So he is available, but we never show any true ambition, that's our downfall. And also Greenbhoy going on your logic, Southampton wouldn't have appointed Pochettino, they would have stuck with the primitive methods of Nigel Atkins. Adam Lallana recently said the training they do now/Pochettino's ideas etc are on a completely different level. If you don't get with the times then what is the point! I quite like moyes - he has good points, but his ideas are way behing progressive coaches like Rodgers/Martinez, so we have to think outside the box and get the next progressive coach before everybody knows about him. I saw Madrid win their 10th European cup last night - I want my club to make more history/new history, not settle for second best/doing ok!

12.) I meant to say that if Paul Clement is available, I would definitely think hard about him also. West Brom are sniffing around, but I don't know if he is staying at Madrid. What an education he has had though - he worked with Brendan Rodgers in their early days at Chelsea and reminds me very much of him, he has since worked under Mourinho/Hiddink, now Ancelotti, - he also worked of course with Stevie Clarke at Chelsea too.

Stand up for the champions. We were rank today. Some players were so far off it it was unreal. Another clean sheet. Charlie and Erik look like a steadying influence at the back. Brown, commons, CKR and Griffiths were all mince. Nothing the manager can do about that except use subs on the day and possibly drop the serial under achievers for the next game. And talking of sub's, leaving forrest on the bench and bringing Rogic on worked well for him. Some goal!

Sack RD. We only managed to score 3 today, and keep a clean sheet. The team didn't look fit enough and we should have had at least a dozen more!! Get him tae...

Wow, the amount of wool over some peoples eyes is scary.

It was woeful to watch particualry the first half. He still plays his favourites and decides to leave better players more deserving of game time like Commons and Allan on the bench for the consistantly dire two of Armstrong and Johansen. An absolute joke.

{Ed007's Note - So risk Commons getting injured again? Do you listen to what people say or just pounce on anything to have a dig at the manager? Commons is still getting back to fitness, he's not at a stage to play 90 mins and he's more effective against tired opposition.
I take it you watched a lot of the Scottish second division last year to know how good Scott Allan is so I'l bow to your superior knowledge of inferior football.}

2.) 13 Dec 2015 21:11:45
Scott Allan has more creativity in his left pinky toe Ed than Armstrong has in his whole body. When Allan is on the pitch he's always making things happen and goes for it. Made a positive impression even in the poultry 3 mins he was given by Ronny today. Armstrong and Johansen have been muck ALL season and that is no exaggeration.

Bitton, Commons, Allan, McGregor, Forrest, Rogic when fit should all be making the midfield before both Armstrong and Johasen imo. The only player those two should be ahead of in the pecking order is GMS.

{Ed007's Note - As I said I don't watch lower league Scottish football so I wouldn't know if Allan is a better choice than Armstrong or Johansen. Fair play you can see that in 3 mins - have you ever thought of scouting as a profession?
Is there any other players in the second division that have caught your eye and we should buy to pin all of our hopes on?}

3.) 13 Dec 2015 22:38:05
You're right there, Ed, you can't judge aplayer if you are not watching him, you probably won't understand how good a player Allan is, until he gets a run in the team, in the same way that Johansenn has had a long run of poor form, that normally would mean that he would have a long run sitting on the bench, and coming on for 3 minutes at a time, until he has got his form back, Ronnie is getting these selections the wrong way around.

{Ed007's Note - Fans were clamouring for Allan to get a chance and look what happened against Ajax - a diddy European team according to some - when he cost us the game and showed everyone that he hasn't reached the level of match sharpness required to play at a higher level. We all know how unforgiving some supporters are when players make a mistake, a good coach would protect his player from that.
There's always the possibility that his mistake against Ajax that cost us the game has knocked his confidence and RD is trying to build it back up, would being kicked up and down McDiarmid Park for 70 mins today have helped Scott Allan, can he handle the physical side of the game?
I really need to start watching lower league Scottish football, who knew it was producing players of the kind of quality that will supposedly completely transform a team that has cost millions of pounds to assemble, and it's only taking a year.
We bought a Premiership teams 3 star players and they have struggled to find any form but a guy who has played one decent season in the Scottish 2nd division by the time he reached 24 is now being touted as the new Messiah. We're loaning youngsters out to play at that level because they aren't good enough to get a game in our league.
As I said I don't watch lower league football but Scott Allan wasn't good enough to get guide Hibs out of that league so I doubt he was running amok every week, he only managed 3 goals and 16 assists in 45 games, that's hardly earth shattering when you look at the level of opposition.
I wonder what the CL groupies in the support think of Allan, while they're demanding the CL we go out and sign 24 years old from the Scottish 2nd division, what league in Europe would you compare that level to, would the CL groupies be happy if we were buying players from the Hungarian 2nd division?
Personally I'd rather see Aidan Nesbitt given the game time that Scott Allan is getting, in my opinion we should never have bought him, but I know there's people who have a NEED to grab onto anything to attack the manager with, I remember people were screaming out for Mulgrew to replace Izaguirre, they went very quiet after Malmo. I don't know any CFC fan that wants Stokes near the team but as soon as he has a public run in with the Club all of a sudden RD should be playing him.
CFC could come back from a tricky European away match, come home to win a difficult away match, 3-0 and there would still be people moaning about something.
I remember a time that we couldn't buy a result following European matches and yet I seen somewhere that that's 16 games that we have won following playing in Europe under RD.}

4.) 14 Dec 2015 01:25:16
Hmmm remember Tony Watt Ed? Young lad bought from Airdrie who were in League 1 at the time, going by your thoughts on Allan I'm guessing you may have thought even lower of Watt possibly who know one had heard of at the time.

What do you know, give him a chance and he scores a double on his debut against Motherwell and then goes on to score against Barcelona in the CL Groups to give us 3 points and put us on route to the last 16. Attitude aside the boy had stacks of talent.

In essence Ed, it matters not a jot where the players come from to me, as long as they are good enough and have been given a decent enough chance to show they are. You talked about the snobbery the other day iirc about Celtic fans wanting CL football. Well correct me if I am wrong here Ed but aren't you showing some snobbery yourself here turning your nose up at lower Scottish league football in the way it comes across in your post. Not given Scott Allan much credit for his stats because it's only the in the Scottish Championship?

As I said I couldn't care if we were signing players from the Albanian 3rd division, as long as they are good enough for Celtic and can step up to a required suitable level in Europe then that's all I'm interested in and for me a player like Watt could step up to that level even though he was purchased from Airdrie for absolute buttons. I mean you say how could Allan be better than players we spent millions on? The answer is simple, look at Amido Balde bought for £1.7M or thereabouts from the Primera Liga in Portugal, then take Tony Watt purchased for £80K or whatever from Airdrie in the Scottish league 1 division. Who do you think most Celtic fans would pin their hopes on becoming a better player for Celtic or indeed just being the better player in general? Exactly.

Armstrong and Johansen have been given ample opportunity this season and have consistantly under performed whilst others have not to see what they can do given a decent run in the team like for example Scott Allan but there are others. This is my argument. Anyway think it's harsh to blame it all on Allan for the defeat to Ajax, Armstrong should never have gave him the short pass in the first place even if Allan asked for it, last minutes needing a win and with Mulgrew, Boyata, Lustig and Simunovic in the box he decides to pass it short from a corner? What does that say about Armstrongs decision making, added to this his deliveries are 9.5/10 absolutely woeful. Allan also managed to cut open the Ajax defence with one of the best passes of the season and if we had a decent striker at that level we would have taken advantage of that moment before what happened at the end of the match.

Ronny needs to stop playing the same players every week that are under performing, I don't see what's wrong with my argument.

{Ed007's Note - I read the first line of your post and thought, 'Isn't Tony Watt still only 21?' and we signed him when he was 17. I didn't bother reading the rest, there didn't seem much point after your opening.
Would you be interested in writing round up articles about the lower leagues in Scotland for us and highlighting all the players from there who could improve CFC?}

5.) 14 Dec 2015 01:58:09
A bit poor that Ed not to bother reading the rest of my post, doesn't matter what age he was the fact is he came from the Scottish lower leagues and was a decent signing. Btw Watt will be 22 in a couple of weeks and Allan just turned 24 so there's only about 2 years between them.

The only player I think we should be keeping an eye on in the lower leagues is Jason Cummings as I've said previously. I'm not sure on him but he does seem to have some potential but just need to wait and see not saying he would improve us just he seems to be the only player that's caught my eye in the Scottish Championship this season.

6.) 14 Dec 2015 09:49:53
Tony Watt was decent signing? Need to talk me through that one!

7.) 14 Dec 2015 12:08:46
Bought him for £80K, sold him for £1.2M. That's decent profit for a start. Gave Celtic fans one of the best moments in our recent history with THAT goal.

Scored a few goals against teams like Motherwell when we couldn't find an opening and also Dundee Utd, Inverness and St Johnstone.

In general looked a very decent player. He has to go down as a good signing for the ability he provided on the park and the profit we made from his sale. Only his attitude stopped him from being Celtics number 1 striker.

8.) 14 Dec 2015 18:20:22
IMO there are far too many football experts an not enough Celtic supporters on here
Every Tom Dick and Harry who goes to an odd match derides Deila for his choice of player without knowing anything about little injuries and state of mind etc . Some of us are really spectacularly in love with our own judgements . Why are so many of posters here not joining with various clubs in Scotland and making Scottish Football the best in the world .

Never noticed this at the game today but just watched Sportscene highlights and St Mirrens goal. WTF Ambrose. Check it out. Looks like he is out for a Sunday stroll when the cross goes in.

Bankie Bhoy

1.) Blame Ambrose, most people do, but no proper defence should have allowed the ball to be headed back into the middle . That was a school boy error of the extreme level. I am not blaming Izzy as everyone knows he is weak in the air . Another Celtic player should have taken the St Mirren player and not let him put the ball back into the middle
If Ambrose was playing a Sunday league match what was Virgil doing?

2.) Blaming Ambrose is simply the easy way out these days. Yes has his moments but his pace saves us a lot too. Remember guys he is our 3rd choice centre back and I don't think in our current financial climate we will get much better to be a sub.

3.) Come on guys. He is a pro. He should be thinking about defending the eventuality that lead to the goal. At least those celtic players at the back post were competing. What was Ambrose doing?

4.) What you didn't see on the telly was that there were three St Mirren players unmarked at the back post with no Celtic player willing to come out of their zone to mark them, it is a downside of the zonal system and opposition teams (particularly those inferior ones) will try to exploit it. However in saying that we won the game easily and could have scored a lot more, I don't see the point in picking at every mistake, all teams lose goals and Celtic are no different, let's just support the team and try to avoid needing whipping boys. I think some fans are just waiting on Efe making a mistake, Virgil made mistakes yesterday that if Efe had done the same the screams would have been unmerciful yet there wasn't a murmur

5.) Bankie they had a long time to see the ball coming and they should have completed better . They weren't exactly completing against the best player in Europe . Why was Ambrose the only player in front of the goals at least he was trying to get into position to do something . Once someone gives a Celtic player a bad name, then the majority of fans blame him . I have seen Ambrose blamed for Celtic conceding a goal in a game he wasn't even at .

6.) Yeah Chris ambrose has become a bit of a whipping boy with the support and it can be unfair criticism at times but he's got a lot to learn if he's to become a proper defender.I feel there are times he just gives up on tackles if he thinks he can't get to the ball and it makes him look lazy which he isn't.he's still young enough to work on and improve his game and he's a likeable big guy but I still would like a more dependable seasoned centre half in this transfer window.

7.) Grout Doc . If you are right about zonal marking yesterday, then the problem was that Celtic were doing zonal marking very badly . Zonal marking carried out properly wouldn't have a group of players standing on top of each other in the middle and would have at least one if not two at the back post . If they were all grouped together in the middle why didn't many react to the head back . It just doesn't make sense, it was bad defensive play and had nothing to do with the attacking philosophy Deila's team has .

8.) Gerryma8 . I don't disagree with much of what you say about Ambrose . The only thing I would add is that you could say the same as Denayer and Virgil, although neither have the same speed of recovery .

9.) Chris02 I agree it was very poor defending and they didn't react to the opposition movement, my point was it wasn't just the fault of EFe, as soon as you let the ball be headed back across the goal it becomes very dangerous.

10.) Exactly . If we let teams win the ball either at front or back post goals will be scored .

I hope that the article on the website is a load of rubbish. Surely it would take a fair bit of work to agree a transfer with the club, agent, player and all the rigmarole involved. Even the medical looks like a hassle. Still, not surprised if the article is correct as it seems difficult dealing with players and their agent's from the Balkans. On a lighter note, the translation was funny.
