Bit of a cynical post and I'm sure most will disagree with but is there any chance the powers that be don't actually want us to continue dominating the way we have been the past 3 years or so?

I live down south and on a daily basis I get the usual Scottish football is crap, one horse race etc etc. Most folk ask do I not get bored winning all the time? Of course growing up in the 90s with rangers domination I explain why I love my club being on the verge of a treble treble.

My question is would it be possible that PL/ DD want our rival (s) to be closer to us for competitions' sake and will not want to ensure we win 10 in a row?

Just wondered what Ed and everyone else's thoughts are. Part of me can't shake off the feeling that football is a bit rigged at times.

{Ed007's Note - I have no doubts that with the amount of money involved football is fixed at certain levels mate - there's even some talk that Leicester's Pub League win was rigged by an Asian betting syndicate - but we only need to look at the SFA's treatment of the original Rangers and the Calciopoli scandal in Italy a few years back - but from what I hear from people close to the board, Lawwell and Desmond especially, they are as desperate as us to keep ahead of any Ibrox based club, how far in front is the obvious question. Ed001 has repeatedly said that referees in England show an obvious bias towards Man City to ensure they win and keep 11 on the park.
To be honest I think the religious & political divide that exists in Scotland would make it hard to fix games up and both parties know what was going on. I think up here it would be more likely betting on a red card that can be controlled by as few people as possible.
I'm not giving this website any credence but a lot of people do think it's spot on and there's plenty of others out there if you want to look into it:

Interesting. Cheers Ed. It would be amazing if DD/ PL actually spent some real money getting a top coaching team in. We all heard that DD essentially told PL to bury sevco after they beat us in the semi final in 2016. I'm hoping (but not holding my breath) that the defeat on Sunday is the catalyst to ensure we continue to dominate.

Incidentally, who makes the decision? Is it the board who vote, or does DD basically say who he wants in?

{Ed007's Note - It's ultimately a board decision but they'll just back whoever Desmond and Lawwell agree on.}

In all honesty. Has Desmond ever wanted to bury rangers going by the way the clubs been run in the last 6 month that seems a bit far fetched.

The old firm is a cash cow both sides want to maintain.

Go and Google the 1909 Scottish cup final.

They drew and went to replay. Another draw. Instead of extra time the game was set for a third replay.

Fans of both clubs invaded the park and tore down the goalposts as they felt it was being manipulated to make more cash from a third game.

Unfortunately our fans these days are much more trusting and almost refuse to question the actions of what is ultimately Tory businessmen running clubs. Bizarre.

So do you think the website Ed posted has some truth to it? We know you're a bit of troll but genuinely interested to hear other fans thoughts.

If you read through the info and the statistics either the matches play our perfectly to look like match fixing or it is match fixing haha. It’s crazy.

Really interesting thread this, it has crossed my mind that a lot of this shenanigans goes on. Sadly the game is all about money these days and to generate interest in the game you need competition. Makes you wonder if the club really do want to bury the club playing out of Ibrox. The next couple of seasons will tell, we have the resources to do it, but will we? . You get the feeling in an ideal world the club would like a closely contested league with Celtic winning it which keeps the interest from around the world.

HT I was born in 86 and grew up watching them win everything. I celebrate every single win and trophy like it’s the first we have won in years. The pain from growing up will never leave, as will all the sevconian’s pain who were born in the late 90’s early 00’s 😂.

I'm a year older than you Kev and my first cup final was Ibrox against Raith Rovers. The stick I took at school the next day I'll never forget. In fact all the slagging I took was worth it when you compare us to them now. I just hope the board don't let us down.
Like my dad always used to say to me "it's not easy supporting Celtic".

Imo I think dd and pl want to dominate rangers but at the least possible cost they can because it is a business, just like when rangers went down they appointed Deila probably the cheapest option possible just enough to keep the likes of Aberdeen at bay while not having to spend much money everything they do revolves around making sure the board is happy while making money, these kind of people have money because they are smart only spending it when they have too and even then it’s grudged! it all makes for frustrating watching but their never going to spend more money than they have too, the way they see it is why spend 50m to win the spl when you could spend 10m, still win it and with a bit luck could maybe get into the champions league.
