I know it's been mentioned on here but was thinking about Rodgers dealings in the transfer market, and to be honest it was pretty crap when you think of koassi 3mill, bayo 2mill although dury still out. Hendry 1mill gamboa 1mill hayes has done ok bain looks sound Christie is a good signing and eddy looks good with more to come sinc has been worth his outlay but there's been about 7 mill plus wasted. never mind him telling us burke was a superstar and tohjlan was class realky poor imo.

Hendry was more than a million and I don't think Rodgers signed Christie.

Think Christie came in under RD? - Compper, Toure, Mulumbu, Morgan, Benyu and De Vries have also failed to impress/ make the breakthrough and the ambitious loan signing of Charlie Musonda didn't work out.
However, his early signings - Dembele, Sinclair, Ntcham (in his first season) and then later on adding Benkovic (loan) made serious impact.

Dembele was being talked about before Rodgers came in. I’m sure we had the deal near enough complete.

Kouassi needs a run in the team. I’ve got a feeling he’s going to be a great player.

Honestly it's infuriating how many people have no idea how clubs sign players.

Managers don't sign them all. Not to mention the policy restricts the scouts.

As kev pointed out he spent like £32 mil on 23 or something so we spend 1-2 mil average per player.

That's not a manager issue, it's a finance issue.

If anyone in 2019 thinks u can build a good team on they prices while simultaneously selling any good players u do find then you are kidding yourself on.

Tesla talking of players he signed that were successes dembelle eddy, ntcham first season pants this season sinc who else he must have had a say in a fair few of them and he wasted as av said at least over 7mill which is a lot if dosh to us.

Dembele was set and in contact before Rodgers was confirmed.

Sinclair had talks under deila

Ntcham was from city so signed by lawwells son who works at man city

Benyu was down to kolo toure

Not even a Rodgers thing either. Seen the interview McCourt was talking about he turned up to training and Strachan didn't know who he was

Desmond's mate told him to sign McCourt haha.

dembele wasn't mate he came after BR was confirmed, he said a few times that he signed due to Rodgers been manager.

He actually said he was talking to Celtic before Rodgers but Celtic getting Rodgers convinced him it was right thing to do.

Dembele and Sinclair were attracted to the move due to Rodgers

We had them scouted and in talks before Rodgers though.

Sinclair knocked us back under Deila.

My point is the club already wanted these players. Not all signings are a "managers players" as always gets made out.

We clearly have links with man city. Got players before Rodgers. So it Ntcham "Rodgers man"?

No matter who does the scouting, approaches, negotiations and deals; the records always show that the manager in post when they join is credited with 'signing' those players.
I have no doubt that many players are brought in without a managers consent or recommendation, but the 'credit or criticism' always ends up at the man in charge of first team affairs.

It's ground we've been over time and time again this one. As fans, we'd love the clarity in knowing who exactly was responsible for each signing. But that's very unlikely at the time. What is more apparent is that the 'quality over quantity' mantra still hasn't quite set in under Rodgers/ Congerton/ Lawell. It's interesting having heard scouts say that they look for players only to find out they'll cost more than 3m so the game is up. Obviously we have broken that figure, however, it does seem to be the ceiling for the vast majority of signings. For me, this all points again for a shake up behind the scenes and we need a figure bridging football and finances.

Exactly once a bhoy. It's who it falls on and that's the responsibility of the job but it's Obviously much more than that when you dig deeper.

Yes yes jimtim that's exactly the issue.

As kev said we spend 32 mil over 23 players. That's a very low average spend per player.

We have 3 times as many failures as we do success stories like van dijk or wanyama.

Ajax set a great example for clubs like us because they spent money and the result was they earned even more in sales.

They acquired a better player as a result and therefore they went to bigger clubs for higher values.

Not to mention prize money for better performance in Europe.

We can do that but somehow we stick with this overly safe method which some people are happy with fair enough.

It's safe. But it's not ambitious and nobody can argue against that.

Who signed Shved. Who cares he looks fantastic.

15.) 10 May 2019
10 May 2019 21:01:07
What's your point there Stan?

The point was managers aren't signing all the players

So whether shved is good or not is irrelevant. Rodgers openly admitted he didn't know much about him.

Proves what I'm saying regardless of his ability.

16.) 10 May 2019
10 May 2019 22:20:47
He also admitted being manager of Celtic was his dream job. oldkilly.

17.) 10 May 2019
10 May 2019 22:59:27
Yep and he probably was. Funnily enough I warned you the policy of the board would drive him away

Then it became publicly obvious there was issues between him and the board.

Then he left. What a surprise eh?

Nobody with ambition wants to be here, player or manager

That's why van dijk and wanyama are in a European final for other clubs, not ours.

We are a self proclaimed stepping stone to better things.

Tesla my point was i couldn't care less who makes the signings aslong as they perform on the park.
