Today killed the Lennon debate stone dead. No chance he should get the job.
That line up and subs were just bizarre.

Kev

The guy is clueless. He was clueless first time round and nothing has changed.

Let’s hope the squad has enough about them to secure the treble but not as confident as I was 2 months ago.

Clueless in beating Barcelona but no let's remember judas who lost 7-0 to barca,7-1 to psg and 5-0 at home to psg. Judas gave us our worst results ever in europe be careful what u people wish for.

Agreed Kev but heard from a few that Michael Oneil is under serious consideration which breaks my heart. No moyes Keane Lennon or Oneil for me.

Have to agree lads. The pace of play is so slow. The tactics are Lennon and Kennedy simple as that. People going on about rogers tactics is rubbish. He gone and Lennon is in charge. They need to get this sorted and wrap up the league asap and get ready for the semi final against the dons.

I reckon if he was getting the job he would already have it, so I presume they have someone else in mind.

Mike Tyson

You have clearly had a few too many blows to the head so I will take it easy on you.

Beating Barcelona doesn’t make you a great manager. Just like scoring against them doesn’t make you a great player, remind me again what happened to Tony Watt.

The team have gone backwards massively in terms of entertainment and being clinical since Lennon took charge. 3 last minute winners needed and our record of winning every home game gone with two 0-0 draws in the last 3 home games.

I hope to god he doesn’t get the job permanently as he just isn’t good enough.

You will also notice that I didn’t mention anything about Rodgers, I just said I was more confident a few months ago that we could complete the treble. On current form I am worried about it.

I have to agree; but really don't want to slag the guy off too much, because the real culprit here - is Rodgers, but for whatever reason, we are really struggling for form and inspiration and it's hard-going watching us these days; although we will win the league
On the bright side we are 14 points clear; whereas we were 8 points ahead when he took over so that is a definite plus and although we have really struggled to score in recent games the defense is fairly tight and one goal victories have been enough.
However, we really have to snap out of it if the 3 x 3 is going to happen as Aberdeen will be a tougher game than expected at this rate and I would think we may need to score two or three?

I remember quite a few games before NL arrived, where we were poor against packed defenses and were too pedantic and predictable, but it's still happening and maybe the players need to take much more initiative on the park with quicker movement and slicker passing?
The manager can only do so much and the players we have are mostly experienced Internationals who have been signed for their ability; but a ridiculous lack of dead-ball quality or inability to beat a man and cut the ball back, are basic flaws in our game too often.

I know injuries haven't helped and playing with no penalty-box striker all season has been a disadvantage, but we have more than enough quality in this squad, who have done it all before- capable of much better form and we need them to stand up and be counted.
The team needs to progress and improve and I still maintain that going back for an ex-manager would be a backward step after going 'Extra Large' when RD left; we must support NL in the meantime and hope the players get a second-wind for the run-in and do the 3x3.

Would you take Moyes before Lennon.

I couldn't disagree more.
I enjoyed the game today, I thought we played okay.
There was a lot of positives to take out of the team and game.
A clean sheet and solid at the back again.
Benkovic game time, Tierney came through unscathed.
Rogic and Christie some much needed minutes.
Edouard playing 90 minutes and McGregor back to full fitness.
I can see Celtic with all our best players coming back are going to start playing the way we did in November and tear teams apart.
We still had 11 shots on target and I thought our shape was good and with a little more sharpness the goals will fly in.
I believe we are in a fantastic position to make history because our players have not played a full long season like other clubs due to our horrendous injury record.
Most of our players have had much needed rest time and I think when it counts it will start to show.

Lennon hasn't had a transfer window and is using a team quite the opposite of how he likes to play.

Lennon sides are usually physical and good from set pieces and corners

We don't have any players for that. We have players based on total possession. One dimensional, because of Rodgers.

Lennon got to last 16 with Celtic. Which is better European achievement that Rodgers ever made with Liverpool and their money.

I don’t think we can put this on Lennon. Our performance under the previous manager even when we won matches were awful. The brand of football we played was mind numbingly boring. Let’s reserve judgment for the end of the season as there is still a treble to secure. Lennon still has my vote up to now. One player I’m starting to have doubts about is Burke. That miss in injury time was incredible 🙈.

Celtic fans need to calm down, Lennon will win us 10 in a row.
Plenty of times this season under Brendan we never scored and never looked like scoring because he wouldn't change anything. No high balls, no putting the big men up, everything stayed the same.
Since Lennon came in I always feel we are going to score, even if it is the last kick of the game because he will throw caution to the wind.
Today we had 11 shots on target and when we beat Livi 3-1 in the first game of the season we only had 8 shots on target.
But that's football we can't win all the time but I can see the big picture and I am happy with our best players gradually getting fitter.

Am sorry but physical good from set piece teams is not the way we should be looking to play and isn’t the correct way to play that’s ok for a team/ club that’s limited we should be looking to play teams off the pitch.

06 Apr 2019 20:31:02
iceman if you are happy with that drivel today then you are in for a long season next year. that was clueless today, wee griff would have been better today than eddy. we desperately need a real No9.that sort of play doesn't suit eddy he needs room and as we seen last week he will destroy teams.

Robroy1967 I never at any point mentioned I was happy with the performance today. My point was we can’t pin the blame on Lennon for it. If we’re all honest the performance levels of the team all season have been very poor. You can literally count on one hand the amount of decent performances we have produced this season. I have said on previous threads there are names out there I would take before Lenny (Rose, Benitez, Martinez etc although I’m not sure those names are realistic) but there are also names being mentioned where I would much rather Lenny got the job ahead of these (Clark, neal, O’Neil) . We don’t know where the boards heads are at. We shall see.

Lennon is not clueless. Would never say that.
He's probably what I'd call a say pair of hands but I want new ideas not same old same old.

People try to use Lennon beating Barcelona and Rogers losing heavily against them bust forget the took 6 of a Lennon team as well.

His line up and subs today was bizarre and clearly didn't work.

{Ed007's Note - I never seen the game today, Kev but I see we had 73% possession, 18 shots at goal with 11 on target to their 1 so it sounds like it's the same old problem of not putting our chances away. Going by the stats we could have just as easily won by 3 or 4. With 18 shots at goal it doesn't sound as if we didn't create - the other same old story for the last 18 months.}

The Livingston keeper was outstanding today. Our fans never really credit others

Also campsie Bhoy? The right way to play?

Often long balls are called "ignorant" but the only ignorance is people who think there is only one way to play football.

Our best recent era was with long and direct play with a huge physical element.

You tell me our open possession sides who have done well?

Rodgers? Deila? Mowbray? All embarrassed in Europe.

What about the other mob? Le guen? Caixinha?

Ok let's look at managers who either played physical or defensive.

O'Neill, Strachan, Walter Smith even Lennon got us to last 16 playing more tight.

What would you prefer really?

20.) 07 Apr 2019
07 Apr 2019 08:27:26
Lennon got us doings in Europe and Smith parked the bus. If your happy playing long balls or hoping for a corner or free kick into the box then fine mate that’s your opinion.
Some of the fball we played under BR was excellent also RD does not get enough credit for a lot of what he was trying to implement! I’m for getting the ball forward quickly and trying to hurt teams that way but Lennon is not the man to take us forward his ideas are backwards and his selections have always been weird.

21.) 07 Apr 2019
07 Apr 2019 00:31:33
That's my point with the subs ed. We left a proven goal scorer on the bench. Love him or not Sinclair gets goals.

{Ed007's Note - I noticed Tesla mention it and how many times on the live chat have we spoken about how average opposition 'keepers seem to have a worldly performance whenever they play us?}

22.) 07 Apr 2019
07 Apr 2019 11:25:37
Everyone always try and lift there game against us ed. Wouldn't be surprised if livi got skepted in their next game.

{Ed007's Note - That and the fact we've struggled to break down teams who park the bus for the past 18 months or so. }

Campsie I'd love to play like Barcelona and skelp teams in Europe and domestically

But I'm living in the real world. We don't spend any money. Even cash rich side who try to be open have crashed and burned.

It's takes a very very high level of player to play so open.

Say what you want about other styles but simple fact is O'Neill got us to European final.

Walter Smith got them toa European final.

Lennon and Strachan got us to last 16 3 times between them.

I'd rather have those achievements than leaking goals

Even sides like Astana were putting goals past us at ease. Same with beer Sheva.

The board have to take responsibility also. We have gone miles backwards in quality of individual player.
