Obviously not Celtic-related; but very topical these days, I just saw on the news, the Aston Villa player being assaulted/ punched by a nutter who ran onto the field.
Incidents like this and other such unsavory behavior is front page news and the Villa player could have been seriously hurt; but what are the stewards and police doing between the guy making a bee-line for the track from his seat and getting on the pitch?
Clubs are paying through the nose for weekend/ evening security and policing at their grounds and they seem to act after the deed is done
There have been multiple incidents recently at Easter Road and I saw a double-line of stewards/ police standing looking in the direction of where the bottle was thrown at Scott Sinclair and no reaction?!
There is no excuse for violence or abusive behavior - that would see anyone 'lifted' at the drop of a hat in 'real life', so why are they so reluctant to act to stop or prevent it inside grounds?

The security at ibrokes is also a disgrace. When the bampot ran on to confront Brown there was only about 3 stewards along the govan stand yet there was about 20 stewards all lined up at the Celtic end. Even after the incident 7 minutes into the match, nothing changed.
The same bampot only got 140 hours community service and 18 months football ban. His ban would have been finished for the Celtic match in December, totally shocking.
I could even understand if it was his first offence but it was told in court he was a "prolific offender"including the worst crimes imaginable and yet the scumbag escaped prison.
I can remember a Celtic fan confronting maxwell years ago and I think he got 3 month in prison and the young hibs fan will probably get something similar.

OAB why are we reluctant to stop or prevent it? (1) there is an unwritten rule not to grass to Police which I understand and I detest Celtic fans washing our dirty linen in public. Shop them to the club and become self policing. (2) often these scumbags are team handed and an objecting fan can feel intimidated. Grow a set and confront them. (3) there is often a reluctance to admit we have scumbags within our own support. Accept it. There is good and bad in every skwad. I traveled home on train from Cartyne to Airdrie with a bunch of disgusting uncouth reprobates a few months ago who’s language and behaviour was an insult to both God and man. On another occasion I travelled home from Patrick after watching Celtic away in the Dolphin when the new Govan team were at home. I was surrounded by them on the subway and said not a jot but simply observed them. Their behaviour to a man was exemplary. If you have manners you have manners. If you’re a scumbag that is what you are irrespective of the colour of your scarf.

Jfp I've said this before on another thread but I would happily point any of these Neanderthals out if I seen them throwing objects at players or officials that is not football that is not what our club should stand for and as for the idiots being team handed I can assure you in the area I sit we the real football fans would greatly outnumber the idiots it's time we took a stand and root these people out and all clubs need to be united in this sorry for the rant but it gets my goat having these people associated with real football fans.

Jaw, good guys outnumbering the **** bags is only important if your fellow fans get up in unison and back you. But could you honestly say that is the case.

Anytime I’ve seen someone have a go at another fan at a game ( for whatever reason) it just ends up an argument between two guys and everyone else watching mon as they don’t want to get involved.

Personally I can’t think of any preventative action which would work as these people are not rational thinking people. They are total pissheads that don’t know any better. Maybe netting around the corner areas and behind the goals is needed.

Zikos I'd back you and so would most who sit round me we've all sat together for a number of years and always look out for the regulars when new piss heads are there for one offs and cause a scene I like to think we live up to the whole YNWA mantra.
