I am not a big fan of John Kennedy's coaching abilities, in my eyes he only got job out of sympathy because of his career ending injury.
But he has gone up in my estimation as I heard Rodgers offered to take him with him, but he apparently said "no thanks, I am a Celtic Man" Also got told by my Celtic Pools friend that when Rodgers told players he was leaving, several just walked away in silence but Brown told Rodgers to "take a f''k to himself"
It is all just gossip, we will probably never hear the full story, unless a book comes out in the future.

How often do you overlook his sessions Tim?

{Ed007's Note - John Kennedy seems to get the blame for our defensive frailties but he's a coach, not a specific defensive coach and he only does what the manager tells him to - and he can't be that bad if Rodgers wanted to take him to the Pub League - and the players all have massive respect for him and enjoy working with him.
I think Kennedy acts like the buffer between the 'gaffer' (whoever that is) and the players, a role he probably didn't go looking for but was forged while the unapproachable Collins was RD's assistant.
Kennedy is a well respected & highly thought of coach in the game and could easily move into management himself. You don't get to be an assistant coach at Celtic out of any sympathy or sentimentality, he's worked hard to get where he is and climb the ladder at Celtic, remember he was first employed as a scout when he retired which might have been the Club looking after their own but he's earned every job he's done since by sheer hard work and ability.}

Hope broony said exactly that to him.

I have never really known what Kennedy did under different managers but there are 'Celtic Men' and people posing as Celtic Men and both he and Lennon fall into the former of guys who love this club as much as the support - because they are the support.
Hoping for a great reaction tonight; whether it's anger, nervous energy, determination or just plain professionalism. COYBIG.

Have got to laugh about all these fans that say I don't rate Kennedy as a coach but have never seen him coach.
Fae the stuff I've heard he's seen as a very good coach by people he's actually worked with.

@Kev I guess that dig is aimed at me.
No I have not witnessed him take a training session, but most refer to him as a "defensive coach" and I have witnessed many many games in europe and Scotland where our defensive shape has been poor. My opinion, and it is only my opinion, is that Kennedy does not have the experience for that role. He may be a nice guy and may be pals with the players but it is his coaching ability I question. Nothing else.

{Ed007's Note - But the people referring to him as a "defensive coach" are wrong. Kolo Toure was a defender so why wasn't he the defensive coach? What about when McGrain was here too?}

Aye it was a dig at you and everyone else that keeps saying he's a DEFENSIVE COACH even though that has been proven untrue.
He was just a first team coach, who like the rest of the first team coaches have to carry out the head coaches instructions and tactics.
