All over twitter that Celtic have agreed to sign Scott McKenna £4M, ed please tell me this is Shiite.

{Ed007's Note - Celtic are interested as we know but Aberdeen are adamant he's not for sale and certainly not for that amount - I'd ignore any talk about swap deals etc and avoid Twitter in general when it comes to football rumours.}

ED. Mentions of the Norwegian right back from Olympiakos, is this paper talk?

Is there any more interest in Castagne? Apparently we have a list of players and Brendan is getting his “war chest” this winter due to the club failing to deliver signings in the summer.

{Ed007's Note - There's definite interest in both players but Castagne is probably out of our price range.}

They would not sell for that price could it be to get others interested possibly coming leaked by Agents Ed?

{Ed007's Note - I doubt it, Aberdeen don't want to sell McKenna.}

Eds are there any updates on the Americans Gutman and Perez? X.

{Ed007's Note - It looks like it's just a case of crossing the I's and dotting the Ts on both deals.}

Do you rate either of them Ed.

{Ed007's Note - I really don't know enough about them, Shug, sorry.}

Ed, what’s your opinion on Perez and Gutman? It appears to me that Gutman will be back up to KT, but with this hip injury, is he good enough to slot straight in? Perez seems like one for the future, heard he may be loaned straight out?

Not one for doom and gloom, but Andy Murray retiring with his hip injury has me sh*tting myself about KT and that we may need a more ready made understudy, I. e. Meling from Rosenborg.

{Ed007's Note - I've not really got an opinion on them but I'm hoping Gutman's arrival means Izaguirre's departure is imminent.
Can a player that played in the US College football set-up be good enough to come straight into the Celtic team - I doubt it myself and would rather see what Calvin Miller can do while KT's out.}

Is the college system not like the second teir, or is it more to do with age? Just wondering why he wasn't already playing mls.

{Ed007's Note - I'm not too sure and a lot of my guesswork is based on watching films like Boyz in the Hood but I think you would go from graduating college into the MLS draft like happens in the NBA and NFL.
So if you're a kid good at a sport you get a scholarship to college - and if you're really good you have all the top colleges fighting over you - and that's you a student for the next 4 years. All the pro clubs scout the college teams for the next big stars and every year there's a draft where the pro clubs try and get the college players they want.
I honestly don't think it's any slight on the lad that he wasn't playing in the MLS yet, a lot of the players in the top league came through that system.}

Think people are flapping a little at BR comments. We won't sign players that are quoted in the Castagne price bracket. There will still be money spent. Far too many stealing a wage so some will need moving on to free up wages for new additions. BR needs to be ruthless on who he wants rid of. Surely need to get rid of De Vries, Compper, Gamboa, Izzy (expected with Gutman arrival? ) Allan, Benyu. Then there's talks of loaning out Hendry, Mulumbu (possible sale) Morgan. Then possibility of cashing in on Boyata. That'll free up around 80-100 grand in wages (guess) so we can concentrate on getting in a RB and CB before window closes. Most targets leave their options open until late in window to see what's available so our main targets won't make a decision until then. If we get in a decent RB and CB and get rid of the deadwood then I'd say it's been our best window in a long time and puts us further away from Rangers. Then come summer our biggest worry is replacing Benkovic and Gordon.

Have you lost all patience with Izzy ed? I loved the boy from his first spell, but it’s clear that he has regressed so far since then that he shouldn’t be near our first team. Do you know if he got his collar majorly felt at half time against Aberdeen? On seeing him peering out of the tunnel in the 2nd half I said to my pals at the time, that’ll be the last we see of him.

Very likable lad right enough.

{Ed007's Note - I'm just the same as you, Kev, great player when he was here but he's went backwards and fans only want him here through sentimentality.}

Talking about the college system again, would that be the league that guys from here would play in if they got a scholarship over there? If it is then the standard of football can't be good, that's guys a used to play against, doesn't fill me with confidence but I'm willing to give these lads a chance.

Totally agree with you Ed, that coming out of college these bhoys are highly unlikely to slot right into the Celtic team. On saying that, they’ll likely be on a par with some of the lower end clubs in terms of fitness, nutrition, strength etc.

Also, because they’re walking out of university with a degree, the big challenge is. do they try and slot into a long term career in hopes of quickly moving up the ladder, or do they chance the MLS where they’ll potentially be a back up player, making minimum MLS wage and hoping they can avoid injury for the next 10years and hopefully get a career within the game after that. In Scotland you make that decision at 16, in the US you tend to see it at a latter stage, with a more difficult decision. Obviously when a European team comes knocking on your door it’s a different ball game, but just throwing a thought out there as to why they might not be automatically moving to an MLS team.
