I won't wet my panties just yet but .
An 18 year old son of a great player (Timothy Weah) and a 21 year old that none of us have ever heard of (Vakoun Issouf Bayo) doesn't really get my fire burning. We may get both, we may end up with neither and there may be others that come in and others that go however we need to be mindful that there is a real challenge this season.
BR and the board need to get their act together both in terms of identifying the right players and getting the deals across the line as smoothly as possible. Last minute deals rarely work, let's get them in early and give them a chance to settle.
The challenge is there and we need to rise to it. We'll see what happens. HH.

Any football club is always in three states at any time. Progessing, regressing or standing still.
We appear to have regressed over the past year, consider one year ago we had just added a scottish international backup goalkeeper. We had bought what we believed to be a provan experienced german defender. Our fullbacks were at the top of there game, our midfield was all full or under 21 internationals with another in the wings developing at Aberdeen. We had added a left winger to support SS and had two quality right wingers and a deal was in place for what seemed a promising next winger, We had three very good Forwards all fighting for just one spot and we were on our way to a treble.
Now just one year on we have one very good fullback with others who are too old/ young or not good enough. Our central defenders are leaving/ injured or loans. Our international midfield is gone, injured, leaving or off form our wingers are either left or not what we thought and we are down to one forward.
It is no wonder a lot of supporters are rightly worried. Good transfers are usually done in the time between transfer periods and there is then just the paperwork to complete in the interim. Panic buys usually come from bad planning and bad management. We appear to be in the panic buy mode I cannot think of one transfer that was a panic buy that proved a great deal for us.

Do you happen to know all the good footballers? Just because someone is unheard of doesn’t mean they can’t improve our team. Same with their age, Kieran Tierney was a huge improvement on izzaguire even at 18.

The odds are if a player is well known and can come straight in and improve us, we won’t be able to afford him. The only thing that causes me concern is how poor Rodgers signings have been.

And when we produce the next Henry or Suarez our club will continue to be known for producing the best talent or allowing them to flourish. We have already sold Wanyama, Forster, DVD, Armstrong and currently have Forrest, Tierney, Eduoard, McGregor, Ntcham, Christie. Players will come and go and the only way to ensure this model works is to ensure you have a youth conveyor belt of talent. This type of reputation will turn us into dominant force for the foreseeable. When very good young players know they will be given the chance to play at the top level and also European experience whether that be CL or Europa. This will allow us to attract the top young talent around albeit loan or loan with option to buy. Yes some will not flourish but others will, in addition this will also benefit the young Scottish players as they will also be given a chance especially as youth is the future aside with mixing with young talented footballers from across the globe. I would rather this than age old experienced warhorses looking for one last paycheck and wanting to play at the top level in another country being half the player they were only 5 years before, no sell on value and usually less hungry for success. apart from the soundbites saying different.
