The sorry mess we find ourselves in at the minute (Dembele probably going, no replacement for Armstrong or Roberts, defence leaking goals etc. etc. ) is entirely our own fault.
The prospect of Dembele going was always high. BR said a while ago that he likes to have 3 quality strikers, looks like he'll soon have two.
Armstrong was always going to leave this year.
Roberts also was a strong prospect for not coming back after spending 2 good years with us.
As of now we have a board scrambling around for cheap options just as they always have done. Losing 3 quality players is tough for any team and young projects (Arzani) are not the answer. Sometimes when you sell quality you HAVE TO replace it with quality but for some reason Lawwell and Co. don't quite understand that.
My final rant, why oh why do we feck around with long drawn out transfers when other clubs seem to be able to move quickly? What is it with our club? Every year is the same. We should have bought McGinn as soon as last season finished and just got the deal done but I won't go into that any further as it has been mentioned 1000 times by us all. Even the penniless Sevvies seem to be able to spot a player, get the deal done and get him signed and they are supposed to be penniless. Any club worth it's salt says, "That's the guy for us. How much do we have to pay to get him? Send him for a medical and get him in. " That may be a bit naive of me to make it sound so simple but it sure as hell shouldn't be anywhere near as difficult as our board makes it.
Tonight's game is almost an afterthought for most of us. We have been seriously let down on all transfer fronts by the club (ins and outs) and this evening's performance is probably just going to remind us of how weak we really are when we already know it.
Signing 3 or 4 players in the last 48 hours of the transfer window? Don't make me laugh, when is the last time our club did that? Perhaps they should have focused a bit more on the previous 1600 hours of the window and they might have got somewhere.
As the Green Brigade said, "CHAMPIONS LEAGUE? YOU'RE HAVING A LAUGH"

Well said Sir. Our board have never had their finger on the pulse. If our board cannot back a manager who has won everything since he arrived, what chance do we have?

All very true and instead of going into a season with confidence, improvement and expectation after a double treble - we are culpable of so much self-inflicted damage and mismanagement in a few weeks.
The Board have come out of this reeking of incompetence, but there are other factors that seemed to conspire including, an injury epidemic, poor choices of recruitment with a squad that hardly matches up to the balance sheet of salaries and a drastic loss of form right through the side from back to front, where International players seem to have lost all confidence in even basic decisions.
The manager looks downhearted and flat and this has obviously filtered through the whole team - and now the support.

You would like to think that once this window is closed, there is serious meetings going to happen with our manager, DD and PL. They all have to get back on the same train, as I fear the hierarchy haven't the same vision for our club as our manager does.

And what exactly does Lee Congerton do to merit picking up a wage?

How could we balls this up from a position of pure dominance we find ourselves going into a season we should romp in a weaker position. unless the pistol gets his finger out.
