BRs latest statement is magnificent. The man oozes class. I guess it's over to PL now.

He has made it clear he wants to be backed and if the club don't back him his job is done. This site is split between posters who keep on saying everything is fine and others who have been saying from the start of the transfer window we are not ambitious enough. BR has made it clear he thinks we as a club are not brave enough to fulfil his ambitions or the supporters ambition for the club. Its now or never. If we don't push forward now we will never do it. The club need to back this man or we lose him and the momentum we have built over the last 2 seasons. It really is crunch time and BR will be off st the end of the season.

{Ed007's Note - You got a link to Rodgers saying this?}

End of the season? The way he’s talking he won't be here for the first game against rangers unless he’s backed significantly in the last few weeks of the window. And unless we get to the CL group stage, I don't think we will splash the cash. Very interesting few weeks coming up.

Johnny, not sure if story is true but this is exactly what I was expecting given the lack of players signed. BR wanted them in early, it’s simple like many other clubs that have signed there targets.

It’s irrelevant with 3 weeks left, he clearly wanted his qualifiers to be made easier and he’s been left high n dry with no new players coming in

Now if the board don’t get there finger out we will be back to a Ronny Deila yes man type and a half empty stadium.

Ed he never said those exact words, but his statements recently read directly that he is not happy with the backing from the board.

It won't be surprising if it is his last year if he gets no backing.

but what isn't up for argument is that he's not pleased.

many people will defend the board but Rodgers opinion means more than any of them and it's telling how he feels.

Brendan Rodgers turned Celtics fortunes around when they got rid of Ronnie if we are not careful he will be turning round a premier league's fortune come January.

Sorry Ed I thought i added this last night.

BRENDAN RODGERS has talked about the moment he will realise his days of managing his boyhood idols Celtic are at an end. The champions’ boss denied there is a rift with the Parkhead board, but clearly there has been frustration at the lack of investment in the playing squad during the summer. Rodgers missed out on top target John McGinn who quit Hibs for Aston Villa in a £2.75million deal earlier this week. Asked if it would be over at Celtic if he stopped pushing to take the team forward, the Irishman replied: “Yeah. My job is done then. Terminado. Gone. “But that’s the challenge. You have to test yourself to the limit. You have to be courageous as a club. “It’s a joy to work here. I love my life here and enjoy being the manager here. “But it’s no good if I just sit back and get comfortable. Being comfortable is the enemy of progress. “I never allow it in my own life or professional life. You see it in sports and in industry. The minute you think you’re doing okay, it can quickly disappear – and that’s the greatest institutions. “You have to be mindful of that and keep getting stronger and stronger. ”Rodgers insisted there had been no fall-out behind the scenes and added: “Dermott (Desmond ) , Peter (Lawwell) and Ian (Bankier) all want what is best for Celtic. Critically, they are major shareholders and run the club. I have to respect that, and I do. “My ambition is for Celtic. Every manger is ambitious, but, for me, it’s inherently about the club. We’ve done a double treble, been invincible in one of those seasons, set a British record for unbeaten games. “We don’t want to stand still. How do we improve? We improve in Europe and in order to do that, it’s simple, is quality players. “The minute I start thinking otherwise and get comfortable, then progress stops. In football you can’t afford to do that. “It’s too late once the rot sets in. It’s too late. I’ve always tried to guard against it. “Especially after our first season, we built on it last year. We want to keep building on it. “I totally respect how difficult it can be, the financial side is tough at times. “I have a huge respect for the board here – absolutely. They have run the club strategically very, very well. “Me coming into here and what I have seen in the past couple of years, I have real good relations with every one of them. “There is not an issue there at all. My focus is on doing the best for Celtic. “Deep down I am a supporter, but I am also a professional manager. I also look for the help that is needed to take the team to the next level if that is what the demand is. “I will always push for that. ”.

{Ed007's Note - So basically Rodgers has said that if he rests on his laurels and stops striving to better himself and Celtic there's no point in him being in the job and people have taken that and spun it to mean if the board don't spend money he'll quit.
Another bollocks non-story that the usual suspects will read what they want rather than what's actually been said.}

Wow Ed if that's what you read from that and Rodgers other interviews then you really are just in denial.

{Ed007's Note - I knew I'd have to break it down for the hard of thinking amongst us:

Asked if it would be over at Celtic if he stopped pushing to take the team forward, the Irishman replied:

"Yeah. My job is done then. Terminado. Gone. But that’s the challenge. You have to test yourself to the limit. You have to be courageous as a club. It’s a joy to work here. I love my life here and enjoy being the manager here. But it’s no good if I just sit back and get comfortable. Being comfortable is the enemy of progress. “I never allow it in my own life or professional life. You see it in sports and in industry. The minute you think you’re doing okay, it can quickly disappear – and that’s the greatest institutions.
You have to be mindful of that and keep getting stronger and stronger.
The minute I start thinking otherwise and get comfortable, then progress stops. In football you can’t afford to do that. "It’s too late once the rot sets in. It’s too late. I’ve always tried to guard against it."

Read what he's actually said there, he's saying there's no point being Celtic manager if you're not trying to push forward, at a Club like Celtic you can't just stand still. Did you miss the bits where he uses "I" as in he's talking about himself? Like this...

"But it’s no good if I just sit back and get comfortable."

"The minute Istart thinking otherwise and get comfortable, then progress stops."

Are you accusing the Celtic manager of lying?

"I totally respect how difficult it can be, the financial side is tough at times. "I have a huge respect for the board here – absolutely. They have run the club strategically very, very well. Me coming into here and what I have seen in the past couple of years, I have real good relations with every one of them. There is not an issue there at all. My focus is on doing the best for Celtic."

Every manager is at loggerheads with their board regarding signings and every manager tries to get as much money as possible out of the board, it's part of their job.
And where's all the people that think the manager is in full charge of transfers, why aren't they on blaming Rodgers for the McGinn situation?
As I have previously said - quite a lot of times- read what's actually being said instead of what you want it to say.}

How is it a non story.

{Ed007's Note - Because it's Brendan Rodgers talking about himself and what drives him on. He could have given the exact same interview in May after we secured the Double Treble and nobody would have batted an eyelid.}

BR will never walk out on Celtic. The way i see it is he wants Celtic to act like the big club we claim to be. To do that he needs to be backed. For long enough the Board said but look what happened to Rangers. F@#$ Rangers. We are Celtic and we should rebuild as we see fit. Look at what O'Neill got to spend, did that near put us to the wall. Nowhere near it we spent and excelled. They should act like a big club and back the man who has won us double trebles and got the fans back through the gates. BR is a class act and deserves nothing less than the Boards full support, which i expect to happen over the next 2 weeks.

{Ed007's Note - That's far too sensible, Stan.}

“Deep down I am a supporter but I am also a professional manager. I also look for the help that is needed to take the team to the next level if that is what the demand is. I will always push for that. ”

Nothing ambiguous in that statement. Would he have made that statement if any of the players he wanted were here? No he wouldn’t. The fact they aren’t here is the issue. The reason he is speaking about it. He wanted players in early to have them ready for the most hazardous part of our season that held the greatest reward. Having three weeks to think, let’s have a look at the players we could have got if we fall next week will only intensify the feeling of an opportunity missed. I’m reading the Moos May be back and if he is that greatly improves our chances to pull this out if the fire.

I think we can do it, but it won’t be easy. With Boyata back and the mood it gives us a better chance. Pity about big Ajer though, but that’s fitba.
