Hi Ed, do you have any info on McGinn situation. IMO if he is at Villa then there won’t be much chance of retrieving the situation if Celtic do want him. Also, I’ve not seen it but what’s your take on BR’s press conference? .

{Ed007's Note - If Celtic agree a fee with Hibs McGinn will sign for Celtic. I've not really got a take on Rodgers press conference, he didn't say anything new.}

Maybe not happening then is this scare tactic from Hibs?

{Ed007's Note - No, if Villa make an acceptable offer Hibs will accept it.}

Will Mcginn accept it.

{Ed007's Note - I don't see why not if there's no agreement with Hibs. McGinn was never going to leave Hibs in the lurch by signing a pre-contract in January, the deal had to be done this window.}

Ed, For the avoidance of doubt and clarity here IF VILLA agree a fee then would you accept that McGinn's agent would know that fee? If that were the case then if Celtic matched that fee McGinn would be in a position to choose? Albeit, Hibs could try and force him toward Villa but McGinn would hold the "trump card " in choosing what option suited him best?

Again if Celtic don't match the fee he becomes probably a Villa player (Y)

{Ed007's Note - Hibs could still turn down an offer from us that matches Villa's or even betters it but that wouldn't sit well with the player and his agent when it's well known moving to Celtic is McGinn's preference.
I'm hoping Peter Lawwell wasn't hoping McGinn would hand in a transfer request to force the Celtic move.}

John will be courted down South. He'll be offered silly money compared to what he earns now. He'll be given stories of promotion to the Premier League. Not sure how the transfer market really works but can he refuse a move if Hibs want to sell him to Villa?
I still think he's desperate to come to us but may see playing in the Championship as a different challenge. I don't think it's as simple as us not matching Hibs valuation.

{Ed007's Note - A player can still turn down a transfer, Rab even if their club accept an offer and try to force it through. It's a murky business the old transfer game, with threats, white lies and whoppers, leaks to the press and useful social media idiots etc

How do you see it going then Ed? . Celtic or villa. Also do you have any info on the interest of Liverpool’s young Spaniard Chirivella? .

{Ed007's Note - It could still go either way, it's telling that Hibs and Villa haven't agreed a fee yet but they are in the driving seat and closer to a deal than we are.
I don't believe there's any interest in Chirivella.}

Is it true he is or was at Villa today ahead of their window closing to get the job done. Or are Villa waiting to see what happens to their midfielder first before they move in for McGinn?

It was reported Hibs wanted £4mill but Villa have offered £2.1mill. So was he available for £2.1mill all the time?

Baring in mind what I've just said in my eyes still up to Hibs if Celtic get McGinn simple.

A slight bit of digging into his personality through his agent or even guys like Scott Allen who’ve played with him surely would have shown PL if that was the case or not.

You may also have to add that Villa will probably pay him more than we would, wether he wants to come to us or not. If he’s there and gets offered big wages and looks at us who won’t pay what Hibs want, at some point he’s just going to look after himself.

Couldn't blame him if he choose the big cash but I'll say this, there's been plenty that choose the cash and regretted never pulling on the hoops.

McGinn sees playing for us as his destiny. If it’s down to him he will choose us, of that I am very confident. Which one of us would knock back the chance to be a hero for our team? It’s his team too. He has plenty of time to go to England, and when thatvday comes his fee will dwarf what we pay for him now. Also, listening to Brendan he knows he wants him. That will settle it in his mind.

You're spot on there MP i think BR was very deliberate in speaking out about McGinn.
