just wondering about the real qualitey of this greek side edd. saw a couple of youtub vids seem decent.
domt cocede a lot of goals aparently. fist game of season though.

{Ed007's Note - It's also their first game with a new manager and they've lost their 2 main CBs and star striker Sergio Araujo this summer.
It won't be easy, especially over there, but we shouldn't have any real problems getting past AEK if we play well.}

One thing is a cert, if we play like we did last night any good team will beat us. I’m reading Ajer will be out next Wednesday so Jozo back. Rosenborg had nothing in the final third. I thought our first half performance was absolutely woeful, the second was better but we still didn’t create any real chances after Eddy nearly scored.

I am no fan of the board with their wait and see attitude. Rogers isn’t happy either. So all of you who think he knows best should be too.

The let’s make it harder attitude is not good enough when a minimum of £60m is up for grabs and for me and Brendan that isn’t good governance.

Every year the cheque signing pen goes missing. Every single year. The problem now is even if we find it, the player/ s won’t be match fit and that’s just bad planning.

If we do feck it up, do we go straight into the EL group stage or do we have a qualifier for that too?

Rodgers must be telling lies when he said the board have done great for him and that he was happy then eh magicpole?

Magic - last nights game was poor to watch by all means but the aim of the game was done.
I thought the majority of the players refused to commit going forward for the clean sheet which was worth it.
IF we buy a player right now do they gel straight into the first team? I think the players who are there deserve a shot at the qualifiers.

Will boyata not be back as well for the next game?

If we lose we go into the next round of the EL qualifiers.

He’s being diplomatic. If you think he is happy I have five magic beans going cheap you could be interested in.

Fully agree Magic. We are behind last year. Armstrong away, doing really well at Southampton. Sinclair a shadow of start of last season he needs to come good fast. Dembele may not make next week. We should have Boyata and jozo back so that will help but we need 2 quality players in. Bench last night was week. We have had £7mill from VVD. £7mill from Armstrong. Spent £8 or £9 on eddy so we are ahead by £5 or £6mill. We should be investing and be stronger not weaker. Anyone who thinks we are stronger is wrong.

6.) 02 Aug 2018
02 Aug 2018 11:15:19
Being diplomatic? He's saying the opposite of what you are coming out with. So either he's lying or your wrong.
Did he phone you?
Johnnymac if we are so far behind last year how come we have better result against Rosenberg than last year?

7.) 02 Aug 2018
02 Aug 2018 11:24:23
Why would Ajer be out you need 3 yellow cards to miss one of these qualifiers he has two.

8.) 02 Aug 2018
02 Aug 2018 11:32:07
I'm dreading the day we lose a game Magicpole and Johnny will go into meltdown . The negativity that comes out of the two of them is astonishing.

9.) 02 Aug 2018
02 Aug 2018 11:42:14
Yes he phoned me and confirmed he was being economical with the truth. He said we were weaker. What does thatvtell you? Do you think he wants to be weaker? If you do, again, those beans won’t last long.

As for Ajer, that’s good news. I read he was out on KDS.

The blind faith that comes out of you lot is mind bending.

Magicpole I don't think I have ever seen you say anything positive about our club.
Doesn't matter what we win or how we do your on greeting about the board and saying crap like that while the manager says things like this

The club have had a very clear structure of how they work. These last couple of years have been great years for us. I have got no reason not to ever believe that club don’t want that either. They have supported me extremely well since I have been up here. There is not a huge reforming that needs doing.

I can understand the supporters’ perspective.

The modern game now is very much about signings and lots of signings. But I think our supporters will probably be thankful that we have continuity. We’ve got a core that really connect to how we work but we have to bring in quality.

Now that’s then what goes over to the club, and then the club will look to then do their best, which I believe they are, their very best, to get the level of quality that we need in and that’s going to help us improve because that’s what’s important. "

Yup he's ready to blow up and tell the board to shove the job up their a**e.

02 Aug 2018 12:25:34
Kev I do t want loads of signings. I want maybe two good ones that will lift us. We have money, we need to strengthen. We lost the most goals in the CL last year. I am not expecting £10m signings. You must have missed my post saying at times this year we are playing better than the Invincible season.

You obviously just focus on my posts that avoid happy clapping. There’s enough of that on here. We need to strengthen and make the CL. That will bury Sevco. In order to do that we need to be prepared. Brendan said we are weaker. Do you think for a minute he wants that with four games to get there?

Do you think £60m should be risked? We are playing a makeshift defence in the four hardest and potentially rewarding games of the season. We step up to that then we smash the treble easily. I want to be in the CL and avoid humiliating defeats. That should be all our goal and indeed Lawell said he wanted us to be a recognised CL team. Not cannon fodder. We will probably struggle to beat the top two in any group. But getting 3rd and not being routed at home needs additional talent.

Our defence has been our Achilles for years. Boyata has come on a ton but we still need class in there.

I resent greatly the view that because I am pragmatic that I don’t appreciate how far we have come. I do. I just want us to address the areas dugs in the street know needs helping

Last night our defence got away with it because they were bolloks in the last third. We knew we had four games to get through and remember Rogers said we are weaker. Are you saying he is negative or truthful?

Faith is no pathway to truth. CL stats tell the truth and we should recognise that not improving how we defend will mean more of the same.

What’s that definition of insanity again?

Well, here we are in the same position we always are. If anybody thinks that good prep then I pity the fool.

It’s not negative to point out that not strengthening is good planning. We could win this league with our second team. It’s the CL that ensures we bury Sevco and hopefully we might win a home game in the CL too.

Magic - Kev 83 just likes to say the opposite of everyone apart from the green tinted specs brigade

🤷‍♂️.

It would be typical celtic fashion to fail to qualify, lose out on the 40m euros. That 40 million could see another 3 French Eddys in the team and people believe we don’t need to invest to insure that cash? I think we do. There’s a lot at stake in these qualifiers. If we don’t get there we will be set back quite a distance in the clubs progression.

15.) 02 Aug 2018
02 Aug 2018 13:35:38
The hard bits finding the French eddys if it was easy we would have a team full of then.

02 Aug 2018 13:47:00
Naw kev that ain't true either. I have my own mind. I ain't some wee boy that gets led around by the nose.
Magic our defence didn't get away with it. They played well.
Saying you think 3rd place ain't beyond us. Remind me what we did last year?

Since Rogers has came in we have improved in Europe.
1st year we qualified
2nd we qualified out of the group in 3rd place.
Progress is being made.
Even this year we have a better result against Rosenberg than last.

Do I agree we are weaker? Yes and no.

Our squad yes
Our first team no.

Yes we need signings but nothing major.
We ain't getting a better CB than boyata for a couple million. It will need big money
Finding guys like van djyk only happen once in a blue moon.

Magic answer me this would you say our defence was better in Europe with van djyk in it?

17.) 02 Aug 2018
02 Aug 2018 13:48:24
Ken you are forgetting the £13.5m we got from Tv money last year and £10m CL gate money. That nearly £65m even if we get handed our arses in every game. Win a game and that’s £2.6m every 3 points. So one win and it’s nearly £70m.

That’s what’s at stake. But Petrr knows best and obviously thrives on pitching in young untested guys to secure it.

And I’m the mental one.

18.) 02 Aug 2018
02 Aug 2018 13:53:36
Just been reading the differences of opinions between magicpole and others regarding signings or lack of. In magicpoles post at 10:14 today he couldn’t wait to play that shower of rubbish and smash them into a jam, in his post today at 12:25 we need to strengthen that will bury sevco, no need to say anything else. oldkilly.

19.) 02 Aug 2018
02 Aug 2018 13:59:41
We beat Anderlect because they were in turmoil, they came here and played us off the park. Or don’t you remember that?

Not one win at home in each of thevtwonyears, skeloed senseless away.

Your lack of ambition should secure you a seat on our board.

I want us to use the money we have made to secure more.

20.) 02 Aug 2018
02 Aug 2018 14:02:12
Magic your talking like that money just gets banked. when surely you know it costs about 60-70 million to run Celtic each year?

21.) 02 Aug 2018
02 Aug 2018 14:16:42
So when we win it's only because another team is poor or in turmoil but when we lose its a crisis and all the boards fault.
You could get a job at daily record with views like that.

22.) 02 Aug 2018
02 Aug 2018 14:22:36
Oldkilly do you honestly think I meant just beating Sevco? I mean crushing them
As a club forever. Our second team could smash that shower. I’m talking about no way back, no challenge. Done.

If you are trying to interpret my posts read the one that stated our second team could do them up above. I want King out, Scouser out? The resources to ensure they never pose a threat. That’s jam. Feck my pub team could give them a game. We started letting £60m slip through our fingers by being cautious then they could have a chance. Secure it and they are done.

Ambition to destroy them long term.

23.) 02 Aug 2018
02 Aug 2018 15:05:31
Magicpole you really need to stop seeing them as our rival. They will never again consistently compete against us.
They are an Aberdeen or hibs or hearts now. That's their level. Even without champions league money we beat them hands down with money. Even at their biggest they have only made more money than Celtic once.

24.) 02 Aug 2018
02 Aug 2018 15:07:50
KeV then doesn’t getting CL money become vital with that yearly cost? Doesn’t or shouldn’t that focus the mind to be tooled up to ensure we cover the costs? Or just have faith everything will work out?

What would a couple of years failing to do so mean to our progress? Feck it to a standstill that what would happen.

I do t care what anybody says, failing to prepare is a rubbish strategy. And dangerous.

I’ve said it before, no one but ourselves will feck us up. Our dithering waiting game is only good when luck is with us.

We have brought in more than we have spent. We failed to tool up in January and got knocked out by a rubbish Zenit.

25.) 02 Aug 2018
02 Aug 2018 15:42:23
Kev because we went through 3-1 as against last year 1-0 does not mean we are miles better. They may have got worse. You can't compare the two. Hearts beat us 4-1. Told us nothing apart from on the day we didn't turn up.

26.) 02 Aug 2018
02 Aug 2018 17:00:00
Magicpole: What did you mean by "you lot" are we not all the same lot? Not something you would normally say about your own support? You lot!

27.) 02 Aug 2018
02 Aug 2018 22:38:40
I have to say there are some people on here who are putting themselves under pressure because Celtic just won't lose the game that their posts indicate is just around the corner . It's affecting their sleep as they appear a little bit foolish that Rodgers methods rather than been foolish and stupid actually work . Now in his third year Brendan has everyone playing their role, we don't have glory hunters but we have a team that works together and are very hard to beat., in fact we are very hard to score against even playing a very young defence last night, probably the youngest playing in the qualifiers last night.

28.) 02 Aug 2018
02 Aug 2018 22:21:08
Magicpole, strengthening is not as easy in our position as you try and make out. We have very good players in the area that we all believe is our weakness in Boyota, Jozo and Ajer.

It's difficult to put a transfer value on the 3 of them but if we replaced 2 of them what standard of player could we attract to Scottish football? The standard of player we are craving to pretty much guarantee to be better than what we've got will be a big expense, on top of that you've got to sell the Scottish game to them.

It's easy for lesser teams in Scotland to strengthen as they are replacing dross. We're trying to replace full internationalists.
