Thoughts on our chances of getting Roberts on a permanent deal Ed? Not played an awful lot since coming back from injury and talk of a few prem clubs looking at him.

{Ed007's Note - He's still on his way back from injury though. Players need to be gradually brought up to speed after being out so long. It's far too early to say if we have a chance of signing him permanently.}

Surely Dembeles best opportunity to get into the France squad is by staying at celtic? That is his dream after all, like many players. I hope he will stay.

@KenLikeEh I believe the opposite to be true. He was banging in goals last season and couldn't even make the squad for a friendly against Luxembourg. He needs to move to a more high profile league to get into that squad.

Cheers for the input Ed, maybe I'm just reading into the little things like bringing him on later than expected etc.

{Ed007's Note - I thought he would have got more game time too but he is coming back from a long lay-off and Rodgers - and Man City - won't want to rush things. City have an input on these things, he is/was back down in Manchester regularly for check-ups and to keep City's medical staff in the loop.}

He is their player after all, they could easily get a bigger fee from another prem club if they choose to sell him so I don't see how we could compete.

{Ed007's Note - What if Roberts doesn't want to sign for another EPL team?}

Seems like Roberts has been a city a while, been out on loan a while and no other team has made a bid for him. strange one?

Roberts or any player getting passed around on loan would jump at the chance of an EPL team and regular football in his home country.
Just a thought. Hail Hail

As you probably gathered i am not a big fan of loan players, for me Celtic are at the top and should be buying players outright for the team, and only in a emergency take a loan player.

Celtic should be aiming to be the team that loans out and not loans in.

Ypf the problem is we would not have bought Paddy for £10mill so the only way to get these players are loan deals. Also if they don't work out you can shift them back. However I am not a great fan of loans either but at least with Paddy we know what we have got before we write the cheque if we choose to do so.

I felt that Paddy's body language and remarks at the end of the last campaign suggested he was leaving and that he was okay with that. Must be weird for him this time round, and it was a rough year for the kid. But to see the team doing so well and being on the periphery, knowing what he can offer, maybe makes him realise what it is like in the limelight a bit more. I think there's every chance of him hanging round and becoming a legend.

As divisive as this forum can sometimes be, I don't think I've seen any disagreement on PR at all. Everyone would be delighted to keep him as long as possible.

He might not Ed but I find it hard to believe that City truly want want to do right by him and not what's best for business. They'll want to make a profit and we can't match that.

{Ed007's Note - A profit on an initial £5.3 million outlay minus 2 loan fees and the wages we've paid should be well within our reach.}

Forgot about that, I take it none of his add ons will have been triggered yet.

{Ed007's Note - I wouldn't think so.}
