I have been banging the drum for James Forrest to win player of the year most the season as I think he has had a great season.
But as I read Scott brown talk about I realised over last month or so I have been changing my mind. The way Brown has been dragging us through some games has been fantastic.
He has become more than just a player.
He has grown into a great captain.

Broonie for me Kev. Consistency the key. Forrest has had a very good season but if he doesn't play there is others to step in. When Broonie doesn't play it's very noticable. Would be a great end to his Testimonial year to be named player of the year.

{Ed007's Note - I don't understand the calls for Forrest to even be considered for POTY, he had a good first half of the season but since the winter break he's slipped back into his old ways and he hasn't scored a league goal since Boxing Day.
If it's not Brown then it has to be KT for the level of consistency he's shown in playing so many games.}

Got to be broony for me kev, nobody else comes close! Forrest has done well, but it’s his usual first part of the season and back to the same frustrating Forrest since January! Seen a quote from big Sutton online were he said, there would be a good chance the league would be so much closer if it wasn’t for broony! I couldn’t agree more honestly! If the whole team had his fight and desire for every game fhe league would be won already! So it’s got to be the captain for me, and if it’s anyone else it will purely be down to the fact that broony is disliked by most people outside our club!

Agree with that Ed, Lh86. To be considered you have to be on it consistently. Too be honest as long as he is named player of the year by the club i will be happy, not interested in who other clubs players or writers choose they have no love for our club so who cares about their opinion.

{Ed007's Note - I'd be very surprised if Brown won the PFA award and I'd imagine so would he.}

I think people are being a bit unfair on Forrest myself. He was fantastic first half season and the the second half he's been ok.
But I have been impressed with his work rate off the ball and defensively tae which he has never really excelled at. But Brown just seems stepped it up to a new level again. When the chips are down he really comes into his game.

Brown and KT have been there week after week from day one, rarely putting a foot wrong, breaking up opposing attacks and setting up and supporting the forward players, covering every blade of grass home and away. Forrest has had a good season by his standards, but still goes missing too many times and very rarely maintains his best form for three games in a row and his goals have dried up yet again after the turn of the year.

In fairness to Forrest we have to remember no one has really held down the RB position this season due to injuries and change of formation so he never really gets more than a game or 2 to work out some kind of understanding with the full back. Of course he should be able to play regardless but it must still have an affect in his game.

{Ed007's Note - Apart from the 42 games in which him and Lustig have played in together.}

Is that how many times they have played together this season Ed!? Jeezo would never have thought that. Goes to show how many games we have played this season with Gamboa, Ralston, Hendry, Ajer, Boyata all having played there at some point over the season in a back 3 or 4.

{Ed007's Note - Lustig's played 42 games and Forrest's played 51 so I just took it from that, Stan. It'll be there or there abouts.}

I think that Brendan sets up the team to attack most on the left hand side with K T and S S often backed up and supported by Armstrong .
I believe Lustig is instructed to not drive foreward as much as K T on attack . This leaves Forrest often starting off on ball further from opponents goal .
It also means that our centre defenders can carry ball out of defence and know they have some cover behind .

It's great we have so many home produced players Tierney, Forrest and McGregor all three current Internationals and all thee should be supported and encouraged by Celtic supporters.
