Ed any idea what potential plans may be for Mikey Johnston this summer? He got a couple of games a while back but has had very little game time recently and might benefit from a loan. Maybe St. Mirren? He'd get Premiership football and work under a highly rated manager who has put a lot of faith in youngsters already.

{Ed007's Note - I've no idea what the plan is, Kev.}

I’d like to see him get a bit of game time but can’t really see it unless he gets some minutes after the league is wrapped up. A loan could be the making of him as he seems to be a class above a lot of the other development boys at times.

{Ed007's Note - I don't keep up with the youth teams half as much as I used to but I'd agree that he should be playing more regularly and a loan is probably his best bet for doing that.}

He's out injured for the rest of the season kev.

{Ed007's Note - So he is, I forgot that. Cheers, Gordo.}

I like to see young Jack Aitchison go out on loan next year. Still scoring for fun at youth level. Maybe a year on Liam to a Hibs or Motherwell type team can develop him further.

I would be disappointed if Jack Atchison goes out on loan next season . Based on what has happened over the last decade, heading out on loan is the fore runner of leaving full time . I would prefer Jack to go the Kieran Tierney route to regular first team starring.

I hear what you’re saying Chris but realistically he’s not going to get much game time with us next season and he’s only turned 18 this month. Both Ajer and Christie have benefitted from Loan with other SPL clubs and would like to see how he performs at this level consistently.

Be good to see a few of the youngsters go out on loan. Johnston, Miller, Aitchison, Hill and Hazard again. If they aren't going to get regular game time then find a team that'll play them regularly. They'll progress better than playing in the development league against kids their own age.

Did I hear on the radio, that the reserve league in some sort of format will be going next year?

Aindoh- hope it was a cross signal that has been played on a constant doomsday loop from a coat hanger on the end of bombers fishing rod you picked up :) .
Genuinely hope not. I still miss the televised development games on ctv.
That extra cut. Why bother with any youth set up if they can't get a game for the reserves and test against a level up? It's a massive gap. Smaller clubs and bigger clubs will l miss out on so many decent players. Some lads might never get a career in the game.
Instead of an England shift happening at 20/ 22 It will cut that to youth age. Plenty more lost players.
Frightening.
I'd like these lads to do well. The team will be rebuilt and shifted around in the summer. I'd prefer blooding than a bloodbath. Mcgregor will play a lot of football late summer regardless. few of the current crop will be given a go as well.
I don't like that news if true.

Aside from the post above

It's about picking the right clubs/ managers and if need be inserting a play clause as long as the player is good enough and the reciprocal game time is upheld. Other end. Hit and hope loan punts for example, benyu. Are never going to kick a ball in anger for us again.

It's all right mentioning less than a handful who have went out on loan and have comeback to do a middling or better job for us . However in this century alone over one hundred players whom we had high hopes for have gone out on loan and either fell on the scrap heap or are plying their trade at a lower level .
Our manager says he prefers to work with permanent players, although he signs loan players with the hope of them becoming permanent . He certainly doesn't sign players to improve them for any other manager or team .
Do you think a CE O of another club wants his manager spending time with a player to improve hi for Celtic . CEO is likely to tell manager to use the loan player to fill a hole in team but develop their permanent players . When loan players join other clubs it is often the first time they have left home, temptations from the young boys and girls to party and not live the life style of a 24/ 7 althlete are sometimes hard to overcome
Young Tierney is our model 24/ 7 althlete, the club are proud of him every day no matter where he goes . He got a good up bringing at home that will stand him in good steed.

J Aitchisons dad passed away a few weeks ago aged only 43.Celtics taken the pressure of the young guy and withdrew him from the first team for a few weeks.
He has been assured that he is still very much in brendans plans, and has said he`s determined to make his dad very proud, and do the best he can in his memory.
therefore I don't see him going out on loan as I would think Celtic will be wanting to give him a bit time to come to terms with the loss of his Dad.
