Not a Celtic rumour more an observation, the cardigan as Scotland manager? Would the ludicrous tartan army, still makes me snigger, accept this? Days after the sms DEMAND a fresh start, a new broom, sunlight being let in etc, this what they pitch to supporters?

Time we forgot about the old school managers, they would just take us back in time, we have a load of great young players coming through and some experienced ones already plying their trade, my choice steve clarke. I would prefer a scot to be in charge.

Read a couple of days ago Scot Gemmill was inm with a shout and I thought WTF, but after reading more into it and what he has done with the U21's and U17's he might be worth as shout.
At least he may be more willing to bring the younger boys through.

It's only a pain in the arse because in relation to real class, we produce hee haw. We supposedly have the cream if the crop and yet not one of this group looks capable if taking a first team berth.

Well there is one, but the heed yins at the academy ket him go for us to piss £1.5m up the wall to buy him back.

Sums up the academy for me.

Pep couldn't get us to a final because in the cold light of reality we don't have enough class. We have plenty if hard working players who will run through a brick wall. Put a baw their feet and it all unravels though.

It might technically be a bit easier to qualify for the next euros. But will it be enough for us? I don't think so. A scan around our game and it's the same story. Not bad players, fit and committed but technically deficient.

Now that's a pain in the arse. No matter how good a manager is, he is hogtied by a pool of players who just aren't competitive at international level.

And we can't even get there. Shows you how bad we are then doesn't it? It's all shit, but we are even more rubbish than the rubbish who beat us.

I would certainly enjoy a finals better if we had a team there who could actually play a bit of football. Right now me replacing Daniel Craig as the next Bond looks a better bet.

Scottish football produces no better than no bad 90% of the time. Apart from KT I don't see any young players of real class for the future in any team in our league. We can take on the worlds pain in the arse, but we can do something about our own hopefully.

I won't hold my breath. 22 years is a long time for that caper.

I agree about the number of pointless, stupid friendlies, but it gives those taking part a chance to attempt to shine. Just like the CL.

Players have always been contracted to clubs. Imagine if your player cost £200m and an injury there is very costly
but I never see them moaning about it.

I think we would enjoy more if we weren't third rate.

I don't care what Scotland do, I don't care if they win or lose and I couldn't care less whether they're third rate or tenth rate. International football is garbage - that's ALL international football - and I haven't watched a Scotland game in years, I think it was the France '98 opener against Brazil.

Why do you dislike them so much? Is it the old rangers bias and treatment of our players back in the day? When I say back in the day I of course mean nearly half a century ago.

If it's not that then what's the issue? Not with international football just wanting Scotland to lose?

But it is hilarious reading all the meltdowns from the Tartan Fanny members when Scotland inevitably lose. I don't want any international team that calls-up Celtic players to qualify for tournaments where they're playing even more games and risking injuries.

Cmon stephbhoy2, i think international football is great, but only when your country qualifies for the big tournys. No matter what country you call home, there's a crackin feelin grips the country when your on the big stage, its a different buzz but a good one. In Scotland we've lost that sense of excitement for obvious reasons, and so less and less people bother. Il tell you here and now, next time we do qualify, and we will eventualy, the nation will be going mental. Just need to get the right men in to lead the way.

Bhampot I've never been interested in national football, a can remember my pals fae school getting excited about France 98, a was 16 then, jesus, but I've never supported Scotland for the many reasons that many of us don't. Apart from that as ed says it's crap football. When was the last great tournament? Al be honest I've watched a few games cos they've been on while av been in the pub or whatever but a can't remember a great game or even a good world cup.
