Bit off topic, seen a program this afternoon in Bannatynes, while my wee girl was in the pool, called footballs greatest, was about Roberto Baggio, I'm 40, I remember watching Italian football on Chanel 4 on Sunday afternoons back in the late 80s early 90s, they had so many great players over there, it made football seem quite glamorous at the time, and the standard of players was top class, Baggio, Maldini, Donadoni, Van Basten, Baresi, Battistuta, Voller, Gullit, Nesta, Albertini, Rjkaard, Signori. if you could take one or a different one from that time, in there prime for Celtic just now, who would it be?

Wee Signori would have been a hero here. Scored goals for fun for lazio and had a magical left foot. Never made the most of his talent though.

If we are talking about players to go in the current team, then I would be torn between Barsei and Maldini. However, if it was based on who I would loved to have seen in the hoops the most, I would probably go for Maradona, as he was one of my favourite players of all time (can't believe you forgot him) .

Van Basten for me Cjb77 absolutely loved the guy as a kid and was in tears when he had to retire Never missed gazzetta on a Saturday morning or an Ac Milan game if they were shown on the Sunday.

Your right, Maradona was amazing player, can’t believe I left him off first list, along with Mattheus, another top player, James Richardson always seemed to be sitting outside fancy cafes in the sun, while we watched on tv and it was grey outside! Back to today, I hope we get the young lad Hendry and keeper that our manager wants👍.

Van Basten in his prime was the best center forward I've seen in my fairly lomg lifetime. ACMilan were something then.

Maldini for me. One of those rare talents that made football look easy and beautiful. A truly brilliant player.

My memory of Italian football on channel 4 was loads of big names, lots of 0-0 draws or very low scoring games.

As a kid I hated watching it, in hindsight it was the world's best players all cancelling each other out.

Has to be Gullit for me, he had everything that you would want in a player.

Same yernawsbaws, a always got bored waiting for a goal. A can remember thinking it was shite cos there was nobody getting put up in the air. It was modern day football before its time in that sense.
