Having a think of Scottish based players over the years we signed that done a job in Europe for us Hartley Robson McDonald Caldwell brown Armstrong agathe can anyone else think of any just thinking hayes will be for us.

Can't think of any stand out Euro ties but Jackie McNamara and Mark Wilson always gave their all in the Hoops.

{Ed007's Note - I don't think McNamara gets the praise he deserves when we talk about great players we've had. Him and Tom Boyd are always overlooked when people pick their Best XIs etc but people forget how good a servant they both were, especially Boyd who was our captain the last time we won a treble.}

A can mind jackie mac goal v Liverpool in the UEFA cup, game finished 2-2 in paradise! What an atmosphere that nite! Spot on ED Jackie was very underrated mate, really solid player and great servant! As was tam Boyd.

{Ed007's Note - They both showed great consistency and neither of them ever let us down on the pitch as far as I can remember and they always gave 100% out there.}

Ed I think the McNamara thing was when he left it upset people if I remember correctly was always a big fan of his and Tom Boyd.

{Ed007's Note - That was the Club's fault for messing up Jackie's contract talks and them playing on his feelings for the Club. Why did they leave the talks until his contract was expired, can you imagine Lawwell doing that now?}

Agree 100% Ed. When we talk about bargains we forget McNamara is up there with the best of them. To be in the team for around 10 years at a time when we had plenty superstars says a lot about the guy totally committed and a fantastic player too. Boyd was always a favourite of mine and i always enjoy listening to him i'm glad he is still involved with the Club, Legend.

Jackie Mc was a very good servant and when he switch to full back he became a fantastic defender.
Played both right and left side and never looked out of position.
Scored goals in Europe and cup final as well.

I couldn't remember the ins and outs about it can just remember people being upset about it at the time but no imagine they let this happen to Armstrong next year the fans wouldn't stand for it.

Does any know how many matches Jackie actually started in his first 2/ 3 years with Celtic . The reason I ask is I was told in no uncertain terms that Jackie spent that period on the drink and it took Jackie (Senior ) to sort him out and get him back living a proper life .
Now, I don't know if the story about Jackie is correct,
I would like anyone with information to tell us .

{Ed007's Note - Jackie made 30 apps in his first season (remember it was October when he joined) and he won PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year that year. In his second season he made 42 apps.}

Tom Boyd was one of my favourite ever players. A massively underrated player and an absolute gentleman.

I was at the game against Benfica and we had hardly got our arses in our seats and Caldwell had ensured it was all over. Never rated him.
