I see Eboue getting a little stick today; all justified. I beleive he will take time to settle and we won't see him start a game until next season. I was disappointed Hill was not given a place on the bench ahead of Eboue after outperforming him in the development side. How can we expect our own youngsters to believe in themselves if players who are bought in are first choice even if you play better.

Jonace, I suppose when you spend £2m on a player there is a pressure to show that the money hasn't been wasted.
There is a tendency in football where clubs would rather pay money for players rather than go with their own youngsters. Man Utd sold Pogba for around £5m, then spent £89m to buy him back. Chelsea sold Lukaku to Everton for I think it was £17m, and now a couple of years later want to spend £50m to bring him back.
It's as if clubs can only see how good a player is when they play for someone else.

{Ed007's Note - Pogba left Utd on a free after refusing to use one of Fergie's cronies as his agent and the compensation was around £800,000 which also had to be shared with Le Havre where Utd signed him from (a move FIFA investigated) and a couple of other small French clubs.}

There was some expectation and anticipation, as the player came with a good reputation and decent price tag.
However unlike other 'foreign imports' he does seem to be taking a lot longer to get up to speed and looks pretty raw and will probably take a while to develop?
