I've only just managed to have a look at the plans for the museum etc. and it looks fantastic. You have to say fair play to Pedro for this because he's always said the money brought in gets invested back into the "club" as well as the "team" and this is the kind of thing I'm sure he meant. We're starting to see it happen on both fronts now.

How good does that look Kev, think of all the business that would get from fans around the world and here in sconny botland! The Emirates arena would furnish it with bookings too, a no brainer if you ask me. Hopefully we can see it through to the end, I really like the way our club is heading so hats off to the board, we really are in great hands just now.

without being a misery, still to get the planning ok.
Mind you, maybe the Glasgow Council planning dept will be too busy defending allegations to block this.

{Ed007's Note - I doubt the Club would have made any official announcement if they weren't confident of getting the permission. Nobody seems to know how far down the line the application is, it could be miles away or it could be at the crossing the T's and dotting the i's stage and that's why the Club have made it known.}

i don't want to see money spent on a hotel, what's that got to do with celtic? a hotel that will stay empty for most of the year, i see it being a huge white elephant, i would rather see the money splashed on the team, i don't want a fantastic hotel, i want a fantastic TEAM.

Re if its been approved or not, I think there's an element of release the plan, hope enough folk go 'oohh that's great' to put extra pressure on planning dept to accept?

jamesbhoy i see your point however with the emirates accross the road and the possibility of more regeneration to come in the area i think it makes some sense. Without going on, there's loads of things they could add in the future, an away game / classic game cinema in with the museum etc, lots of ways to increase revenues after the initial outlay of course.

the emirates has one or two big events a year, not enough to sustain a huge hotel.

james i reckon you're missing the trick altogether. If it's built that hotel will be full 95% of the time. HH.

Its not just about the big events though. And i doubt its going to be huge.

That place is becoming the hub for scottish cycling, folk travel from all over to use it. It creates another venue for corporate events at CP, the hotel and the emirates. Also could help attract other big events to the venues like gigs etc more frequently. During the summer when rooms are usually at a premium in the center of town, it could fill a gap, the list goes on, esp with other develpment in the triangle having been mentioned in the past which if this gets the go ahead might begin to happen like shopping, restaurants and improved travel links.

There is a gamble involved i agree. There would be a few hotel chains interested in getting involved there too though especially because of the proximity to the 2 venues. I don't think Celtic would be pushing ahead with this without other guarantees for other development in the area.

That all said, you could be right and we piss money away on a big shiny metal block instead of another moussa, but i for one thing it is a good idea and has many ways of increasing revenues for the club beyond just being a simple Hotel.

@jamesbhoy Celtic have a large support from England/ Ireland who stay in city centre hotels who could fill it on match weekends and foreign clubs supporters on euro nights. This is a great idea which should be applauded as we have to raise revenue streams over a longer period from other sources as playing in Scotland limits income and Europe will only get harder with the big nations closing ranks.

If they keep the prices reasonable then a lot of people will use it like they use Premiere Inn etc.
Run some complimentary buses to Rail and air links like they do in many countries and you have a edge.
I think it is a good investment.

@jamesbhoy67, they wouldn't be proposing it if they didn't think it would make the club money. Celtic would get a cut of the hotel money and the museum would bring in plenty I'm sure. More revenue means a better chance of improvement on the park.

Haha I think my Mrs would be less than impressed if I suggested a night away and took her to Celtic Park. Even a walk up to the Anchor for an aperitif before dinner wouldn't satisfy her. Women eh?

i've got friends who come over from ireland to watch the games and they struggle to pay for their season ticket, coach and the ferry nevermind a posh hotel, with a lot of games on sundays too they are straight home for work in the morning, no working class fan will be able to afford a posh hotel, all this crap is aimed at the corporate fans, the working class fans are the core of our support but celtic are moving away from them season by season, if they want to spend money the should raise the front of the main stand and bring the stadium the same size all the way round and do away with that embarrassing red brick frontage built for centenary season and that joke of a main stand.

If you. Yield they will come 😂, these guys aren't going to go into this with their eyes closed, and I might sure they would have taken this decision lightly. The building of this, and if successful (don't forget the number of weddings) would put us light years ahead of not just Scotland, but majority of EPL, and the future looks very Rosie.

The whole area where the stadium is, is night and day to what it was. this will only enhance it.
