So guys if you had to pick 1 player you could buy in the Jan window, who would you buy between Roberts or Mcarthy?

I'd be happy with either, learning towards Roberts tho.

Roberts for sure, like McCarthy but with Armstrongs form n the likes of Henderson n McGregor I want to see get a chance, but it has to be Roberts, a magic wee player n the type we like in our team.
Roberts n a new goalkeeper n I'd be happy with that.

McCarthy is a more relevant player

Roberts on current form and capability is still flirting with the "luxury bracket " IE to play him is a luxury in the sense that he doesn't do everything required of a player in that position under the BR system. In saying that he is progressing in that regard and of course is s goal threat ( but then commons was a goal threat )

Roberts isn't overweight, lazy and can pick a pass or two instead of shooting every time!
Agreed he can be a luxury but he is young and will develop (hopefully with us! )

Spot on island Celt, and don't forget Paddy Roberts doesn't stand in the same spot waiting for the ball n yet Commons was lauded as a mainstay of our team haha what a load of rubbish Roberts is a special talent n causes danger in almost every game, heis attack minded, created goals n scores them also n for me a definite 1st team regular, as for commons can't wait till he finally leaves, a year n a half too late.
