Not exactly Celtic related but have been thinking about van dijk, sky sports had him in a key battle against zlatan lol. I honestly can't believe no one has signed him? ( Ed can you shed any light on that) stones going for 50mil when they could have had Virgil for 30 max. I am honestly proud to have had one of the best defenders in the world at our club. Hopefully he is saying nice things about us, I couldn't care what he says about the league (like denayer) as we all have the same thoughts. Good luck to the big man hopefully see him back at CP in a CL game against one of the top teams.

{Ed007's Note - Van Dijk recently signed a new deal at Southampton but that hasn't put off Man City, who have him marked down as a possible replacement for Kompany, and also Spurs and Arsenal have been monitoring the situation too but it may well be Everton who will make a the first concrete move.
Van Dijk isn't pushing for a move but would be open to the right move.}

I attended a Southampton game last year as was down that way and the big man stood out a mile. I have always said he is the perfect fit for barca. Quick, great on the ball, reads the game well and fantastic in the air. Him and puiqe would be one of the best center back combos around.

Guys I have been on to the Arsenal site and said VVD is the man they need and by all accounts they agreed. I'm so surprised the money paid for Stones and I know he is English but VVD is far better and cheaper .

I was stunned that guardiola Wanted stones! I watched this boy a lot last year and while I wouldn't say he was terrible, he ain't half the player VVD is! Not even close in my opinion! To me there wasn't a better centre half in the EPL last season! And every time I watched Southampton he stood out like a sore thumb! Shocked arsenal or even Liverpool haven't tried to get him! If he plays like he did last season then a move to one of the real top clubs is inevitable!

If the lad had orange curly hair and a big nose and played as he actually does play and contributed as he actively contributed he wouldn't even be in the Everton team

There is about 90 % froth in his fee based on age ( so what ) potential, looks ( baby faced ) , and his Englishness

He has been pump primed for 12 consecutive months. In fact I think he even had 6 bad months in among that ( probably nervousness LOL over his pending big money move! ( not his fault )

Ed thoughts?

Thanks ed, can't see him fancying Everton not exactly a step up from where he is. Maybe the fact that the players we have sold recently van dijk wanyama etc have done so well down south we may be able to hold out for bigger money on any future bids (unless of course the player wants to leave) for out players. I would love to see van dijk and wanyama together again although I can see van dijk fancying a move to Spurs I think he should be aiming higher.

Stones must be good I heard last year on one of the few times I watched MOT D that Stones was the best centre half in either Europe or the World ( I forget which ) , on watching this star, I have to say I was under -whelmed .
If the Scottish media went on non stop talking up our stars we could buy good players every season . Of course they have been hooked into The Rangers and everyone associated is good the rest of Scotland is pish.
