Just thought I'd post this for anyone starting out in the world of streaming. You don't need a T8 box or any android box to do this you only need an android device, any android smartphone or tablet eg hudl, galaxy etc not I phone or I pad . The simple set up is download kodi from playstore onto your device then google search get Ares wizard for kodi there you get simple step by step instructions from a bloke Michael once the Ares wizard is installed on Kodi it is just a case of going into addons and installing NJM soccer, sportsdevil, genesis, phoenix etc, everything you need is in this wizard. Guaranteed 10 mins this will take you from start to finish. If you have a decent download speed it is better i'm with Virgin and getting 60 ish mbps which pretty much gives flawless streaming. i'm not trying to teach you how to suck eggs here but I notice a lot of posts asking about android boxes streaming etc. It really is simple even I can set it up.

Any time I stream football it's never the best picture, even when it's on Sky etc. any ideas how to improve it? Wifi speed test showed 60-odd Meg so it's a decent speed.

That's a fair point stevie but I've had a cheap box for over a year. I then switched to doing it through my laptop and plugging it into the tv. Over Christmas I purchased the t8 and it's the best £65 I've spent. The machine is hassle free. Good quality and has everything. I've wasted so much time with the cheap box and laptop. So while all the things you've said are true. I'd say for convenience and quality I would spend the money and get the t8.

{Ed001's Note - what makes it better? Out of interest. Having always used desktop, laptop, tablet or phone, I have never bothered with an android box myself, wondered what makes it better.}

I downloaded Kodi on my laptop and works fine too. Will need to look into getting some kind of android box though connecting thel laptop to the telly every time you want to stream a match can be a pain.

If the laptop, tablet or phone your using is old and running slow you are wasting your time installing kodi on it with all the addons.Ive got a T8 box in the living room and use my hudl tableti which is relatively new and not full of junk for tele upstairs and there is no difference both work perfectly

{Ed001's Note - I would always say to do a factory reset and then removing anything unnecessary before setting up kodi etc.}

It's just my opinion ed 001. The cheap box was a constant let down. I've got the highest speed broadband but you'd sit down to watch a film and it would take half an hour to get it going or a decent stream. For footie it would be half time before you get a stream if you got one at all. So the cheap box was no good. So I tried the laptop but every time you wanted to watch somethin it was a bit of a chore and I had the same problems getting things to work or spending time setting up. So with all this in mind I was sceptical about paying for the t8 Incase that was the same. I can honestly say it's just like anther virgin box. It's fast the programmes are preloaded. I don't even have to watch foreign tv for the footie as sly works just as well. Maybe it's the way I've downloaded kodi onto my other devices but I can't recommend this t8 enough mate. Really happy with it.

{Ed001's Note - that is a problem your end mate. There is little power required for streaming, so a cheap box will run a stream fine. It would be worth giving your old one a factory reset and wiping off any extra programmes you don't need, then just setting it up with the programmes you do need. Just in case you ever need it in the future, or if you want to use it on a different TV.}

Stevie I did a speed test for my sly broadband with various ones I found online. They all come in at around about 10mb! I take it that is a poor speed? I do have my box wired to router so streams are usually ok but do buffer still from time to time.
For anyone interested I got the t8 from entertainment box ( cheers edd07) you pay a little more but it's a far superior box it automatically updates for you and is 4K enabled etc. The guy is on hand via social media, email and phone and YouTube videos for any after sale inquiries or problems. I don't do tech but found step by step guides on the web and YouTube vids, as Stevie says will take about 10 mins to set up.

I don't doubt for a second that both the lap top and cheap box are down to the way I've been running them. I'm just saying the t8 is so easy and it's just like a normal tv box it's quick it's simple and it's really good quality. Hopefully it keeps updating its self because that's when the problems start if I have to touch it. I would still recommend it to anyone who isn't sure of installing and operating the programmes.

{Ed001's Note - ok cheers mate.}

Briggs I recently got my speed upped by virgin they sent me another router all for a one off fee of a fiver (thanks ed007 for letting me know about this) and I jumped from 20 odd mb to 60 odd immediately and that did make a difference. I've had my box for a while now and the best thing I done recently was fresh start as I had a lot of rubbish on it from not really knowing what I was doing when I first got it. I installed the Ares wizard and it has only the best addons for installing . If one of the addons plays up simply un install it through the wizard and re install and it always installs latest updates and takes seconds to do

For those who want something a lot more stable there is a pay service (nothing to do with me ed incase u think I'm flogging lol) called iptv stalker there's over 1000 channels and can be incorporated with a tv guide last time I checked it could be picked up for $65 for the year there a massive outfit so wouldn't see any worries about taking money and running.

Got a T8 box as well as having Kodi on a few devices. The T8 box is hard wired and I have around 28mbps bandwidth. I think you need about 2mbps or higher for a decent stream. Hard wired is always best and I use plug in lans that save on having cables everywhere. Best free for sports is phoenix woody. I use sportsmania which is excellent and works out about £4 per month and they have just released an app which you can use on your devices.

That's not true about little power for streaming. For example the prem pass streams in hd are done at a very high bitrate which is why there are alternative links. Older boxes and devices may struggle with these streams. Also if buying a box be careful many Chinese clones don't always have what they claim.
As Stevie pointed out ares wizard is great add on I sent instructions though to android thread few days ago not sure if it got received but rather than Steve suggested installing add ons have a look in the custom builds there's some good ones there that are updated regularly.

I'm terrible with builds always chopping and changing really liked tb build but have gone back to blackbox as its a very small file ideal for boxes with little storage such as firesticks. The blackbox build I've noticed is not on ares at the moment it usually is but for anyone wanting to try it the source address is

There are loads of reasons your stream is stuttering. Have a read at this for an explanation and possible fixes:

If the link does not post just google "How to fix Kodi / XBMC Buffering Issues. The cause and solution"

{Ed007's Note - You need to send in links without the http part, Rab.}

I'm guilty of that sorry ed regarding my last post I see you have coded it but that give the zip file which many may not know how to add so maybe easier this way

For blackbox build add hxxp:/ / tbbwizard. co. uk/ tbb.
