Seems to be unrest on here over RD. If i am honest i cannot understand why. This is a coach, in the modern version of the word. As ED has pointed out, it seems he has no input into the player recruitment. This is the accepted technique of many major teams so why are so many negative about him?

Please, please don't bring the Celtic connection into it, it makes us sound sevconian. The 'to big a club for him' argument also falls flat for me. let's stop kidding ourselves. A big club by what standards? Crowds, hardly with the 'i miss sevco stay aways'. By constant CL appearances, maybe even sneaking last eight now and again? Aye right.

Some of us need a reality check. We are what we are because we play in Scotland. It is that simple. Yes we could be a bit more adventurous in buying, especially if RD does what he was brought here to do which is improve what we have and promote young players. Not as keevins keeps bleating on about bringing him in for Europe! Sure hugh, an inexperienced Scandinavian coach to get us into Europe and beyond, now that would be foolish.

For me he had done ok. Biton is a different player from the one of Lennys tenure. Young Tierney is just the most exciting defensive propspect since Danny McGrain, and i watched the Quality St Kids you young whippersnappers! Rogic has spoke openly on how much RD has helped him. We also have a few loan players coming back season end and the squad will have to be trimmed. For me that will be his biggest test to date. I have faith in this guy. I think we all should.

My only gripe with Deila is that his tactics in Europe are a bit too cavelier at times.

However, everything else about him pleases me.

In all seriousness for those who doubt his credentials ask yourself this question and try and be as honest as you can.

Which players have improved under Deila?

In my humble opinion I think the following have improved:

Johansen, ROgic, Biton, Tierney, VVD, Denayer, Griffiths, Brown and Lustig.

On a final note, I hear lots of people say that our defence is pish and that we need to replace the players. However, I don't think it is the players who are pish. In my view the system and style we play often leaves us exposed at the back if we give away possession as everyone is bombing forward or we get hit quick on the counter attack. My only gripe with the actual defenders is that 1-2 of them can lose concentration at times during set pieces and 1-2 of them need to be more aggressive in the air and make sure they don't give away free headers in the box.

Couldn't agree less GJ! We are what we are because we play in Scotland! Utter nonsense! So how does this explain the 6th best team in Norway, yes Norway not Spain or Germany! Totally dominating us over 2 games? Because the last time I looked the Norwegian league wasn't up to much! And u say he's a coach and this is the done thing at most clubs! Maybe Uve got a point there! But the problem is he ain't a very good coach mate! A good coach learns from his mistakes! And a good coach knows how to set up a team in more than one way! And a good coach can see in a game when things need changed! For me in Europe Ronnie has done none of these things in Europe! Legia Malmo molde Maribor! 4 teams we've played woefully against! And 4 mediocre teams at that!

Well, Ronnie is the manager, so the system and style is down to him, can't agree with the players you've said have improved, apart from maybe Biton and Rogic,

@Dh88. I think you miss my point. when i say Scotland i mean the Country as a whole, not just the footballing side. You use Norway as a bolster for your argument. Norway are reaping the benefits of investment into youth football. Would you fancy Scotland to beat Norway over two legs? Would not be easy IF they did.

On Ronny, when are players going to come into this equation? If a player plays a short pass how is that his fault? If a player misses tracking back is that his fault? individual errors are killing us, not Ronny. I will give you that he does seem to be rigid regarding shape. I also feel that sometimes the mix can be a bit one sided, but i have faith he will take us forward.

On the four teams we played, hard to argue with you. We were better than, or should have been, all of them. Again, players have to look at themselves as well.

Green jhedi Ronnie will not improve Celtic. Now maybe the standard of players we have can't be improved. Who knows. What I do believe us that Ronnie has gone as far as he can with this team. He will get a draw against Ajax and lose against Fernebache. We will end up bottom of our group. So do we as supporters accept that this squad can not qualify for CL and bottom of our EL group is acceptable or do we ask for change. If this is the best he can do let's roll the dice as most half competent managers will win the league with our squad anyway so what gave we got to lose. You can't have it both ways.

By the time I was 19 celtic had been in two European Cup finals and I had followed them all over Scotland enjoying nine in a row and many, many successful cup runs, with an array of very talented and gifted players.
Obviously times change and I remember the lows as well like the Anglo-Scottish or Texaco Cup and the emergence of the 'New Firm' plus the unforgettable Kelly collapse.

The majority of us have seen a lot of success and great football at some point or other, with flair players and style.
On our day we have matched or even bettered bigger, richer, glamorous teams even as recently as 2012/13.
The club cannot compete financially and we are based in Scotland - what's new? That has always been the case.
However we see ourselves as a huge club because we have done it before and we expect to at least compete with top clubs in Europe because it's the Celtic way and that's not pie in the sky as our European nights are legendary.

RD talks a very good game and he has improved a few of the players at the club but we lose goals far too easily and this has been brutally punished by even the most average European opponent and that worries me and it does nothing for our coefficient or confidence.

@Johnnymac i think you are forgetting the fact that our last participation in CL group stages, we were very lucky to get past Karagandy to group stages and we were absolutely diabolical! It was an absolute embarrasing participation. It was clearly evident at that point we were a Europa league side punching above our weight in CL. The decline was set before Deila took reigns.

Rabmac It is true we pay an attacking game and like to play the game in our opponents half of the pitch, yet we have conceded a large amount of goals when we have had almost the whole team back in and around area, so it isn't just our attack mindless that is costing us goals .
