Aftrnoon Ed007

The need for Rangers to be back so we become stronger therefore giving us competiton to prepare us for the CL campaign, I don't get it, when they were at their pomp I do'nt remember us doing well every year, you might be able to provide the stats from their 9 in a row years till now

PS I don't regard, Efe, stokesy, forest or kayal as deadwood, ah bit harsh methinks :))

Efe's a bombscare + the chink in the armour clubs look to single out (along with Izzy) to focus their attacks through, Stokes is an average greedy primadonna, Forrest has no end product + injury prone, Kayal has never fully recovered from the injury he received from that thug Lee McCulloch.

And I can provide you with the facts on Deadco's first three seasons on the road to 9IAR if you like:

R*ngers 1988-89: Scottish Premier Division winners, Scottish Cup runners up, League Cup winners, UEFA Cup 2nd round.

R*ngers 1989-90: Scottish Premier Division winners, Scottish Cup 4th round, League Cup winners, European Cup first round.

R*ngers 1990-91: Scottish Premier Division winners, Scottish Cup quarter finals, League Cup winners, European Cup second round.

6/9 domestic trophies, a SC final + 10 European matches.

Celtic 2011-12: Scottish Premier League winners, Scottish Cup semi finals, League Cup runners up, Europa League group stage.

Celtic 2012-13: Scottish Premier League winners, Scottish Cup winners, League Cup semi finals, Champions League last 16.

Celtic 2013-14: Scottish Premier League winners - elect, Scottish Cup 4th round, League Cup 3rd round.

4/9 domestic trophies, no other finals, although we played 32 European matches.

Deadco's campaigns was pre-group stage European football with less teams qualifiying and no safety net of UEFA Cup from the European Cup, etc. We also had a reprive (Sion getting kicked out) which gained us an extra 6 games - so let's just stick to comparing domestic competitions?

Apologies, that should say a LC final rather than no other finals.

Hamiltonbhoy, I was'nt looking for an argument or comparisons with Rangers, I was trying to debunk the myth that ( we need Them)! to do well in th CL, GS and NL have done well in my eyes, Celtic only need to buy quality added to the quality we already have and wee wo'nt be far away,
If we do'nt sell said quality, I maybe did'nt word it the way it was in my head, and NL has to show he has learned managerial lessons, jeez your Hamilton boyz are quite feisty lol:))

Apologies mate, I've took your post the wrong way then. However, after investigating the facts it's made me realise just how dissapointing Lennon's been.

They achieved 3 doubles (6/9 domestic trophies) in a 3 horse race between us, them + Aberdeen. Lennon's achieved one double (4/9) in a one horse race. Really poor!

Haha, we're very passionate about Celtic in this wee bigoted toon. Especially the ones, ie me, who stay in predominantly R*ngers / Prod / Loyalist areas where they still have a Masonic Lodge, flute bands practising in the community centre every Monday of the year with the doors open for all to hear + a young team called Jungle Derry!

{Ed007's Note - You should get yourself up to Fairhill, it's a better class of place altogether.}

We don't need Rangers as such, just a serious challenger and competition in the league.

If its going to come from the Ibrox Club then we have quite a few years to wait - assuming they survive.

I'm a bit wary of 'we should be beating all other Clubs in the league by a good margin every week now that Rangers are gone'? We never did that when they were here so why would it change now? 3-2 against ICT (2011/12) or 2-1(2004/05) against Motherwell and blew the title?

Celtic seem to shoot themselves in the foot all the time and I don't know why, it's very frustrating! This season's Cup exits are an utter embarrassment and I now feel only the treble next season will make up for it.

Guys don't understand the efe bashing. Yes he can make a mistake just like any other defender, Kompany last wk)and I regard him the best. But remember this he is part of the best defence we have had in years.We have suffered from some terrible defenders in recent past. He makes a good partnership with VVD and I always say the partnership is what counts.Remember McLeish wasn't a great defender but with Miller made a great partnership.

@5&6 Mrs E & Hamiltonbhoy

We lost titles to them recently due to our failings against teams late on in the season

Motherwell and ICT our downfall not Rangers superiority

Also NL the honeymoon is over no more repeating the same mistakes please, Aberdeen could win more trophies

Jayzus Rangers could win more trophies its just not good enough i'm afraid, .

HB burnbank/whitehill then lol

Ths.

{Ed007's Note - Can you remember and log in bud.}

9.) 22 Mar 2014
Ths, I'm thinking the Udston part of Burnbank - fondly known as the Jungle lol

Exactly we lost the title with defeats against teams like Mothwerwell and ICT, not just Rangers.

Rayman, I agree with your point. We still need depth in our squad and we can't pack it full of high earners. Efe does a job.
