The rumour about Joe Hart is not going away. I’d be concerned if we signed him over Forster. Apparently Southampton want to take another look at him over pre season and there’s a couple of teams down south looking at him. My question is if we don’t sign Forster and Gordon goes who would you like to see as no 1.

I honestly think Joe Hart could be a very good signing for us, of course forster will be our number 1 target but the only way we won't sign him is if southampton refuse to sell him or there's too much money involved.
I don't think keepers lose there ability it's always going to be there, and with hart being 6ft 5 with massive experience in the premier league and champions league he could be a massive presence at the back for us, he's recently said he just wants to play and be part of a club and I think with him being in a free agent it would be a very shrewd move.
I mentioned it before on here, Craig gordon was in the wilderness before he signed for us and had been plagued by injuries and lost his form but came to us and was outstanding for a number of years, forster was out the team for nearly 2 years and came straight back and had a cracking season, a think sometimes a player just needs a confidence boost and time to rediscover there form and if Stevie woods has helped the 2 of them then why can't hart do the same.

I agree with Mark. Big fraz has got to be out number 1 target but if that falls through then Joe Hart would do a job for us.

Ed
Please tell me we aren't intrested in Joe Hart.

{Ed007's Note - I wish I could mate..... I wish I could.}

Leigh Griffiths can practice his free kicks against him - and score every time! Hart is way, way past his best and we would be better looking abroad for a younger Polish or other East European 'keeper.

I agree that Joe Hart is past his best, but can I ask what has Scott Bain done wrong to be not quoted by some fans for me he was doing fine until his injury. If it wasn’t for Motherwell cheating was he not on track for a record clean sheets.

To be honest, I'd rather have Miranda Hart than Joe Hart - both allegedly comedy turns.

Oldkilly Bain's form slumped towards the end of his run in the 1st team. He's not good enough though is OK as backup. Hart doesn't do it for me but if it was a choice between him and Bain it's Hart all day.

I respect everyone's opinions on here but I'm actually really surprised with the amount of negativity towards hart on here, just because a player has had some difficult times and a few sloppy performances doesn't make them a bad keeper, form is temporary and class is permanent it's been proving time and time before.

A keeper with his experience and available on a free and a lot of folk wouldn't at least take a gamble on him and give him a chance baffles me, as for him being way past his best, apparently henrik larsson was past his best when he left us and the same could be said for lubo when he joined us, every player deserves a chance to prove themselves at this club.

Gamble is the key word mate. Why would you take a gamble on one of the most important positions in the team in one of the most important seasons in the clubs history?

Problem with Hart is that one mistake will heap a ton of pressure on him that we really don't need.

People expect him to fail so any error, no matter how small will be used against him n blown up.

Avoid Imho.

Is it worth Gambling on 10 in a row. Hart comes in and doesn't find this class then what. He didn't find it at Torino, West ham or Burnley why should we be any different.

Hart is far to error prone, the problem is if we were to get foster back most likely a loan at the tail end of the window and God knows when that will shut this year so we've got to try find someone, somebody said on here that foster was the best goalie he's seen at us in the last 40 off year and I couldn't agree more he's so good so safe so reliable noo how do you replace that certainly not with Hart.

Totally understand this guys and youse all have valid points and I totally agree with us going for 10 next season it might be a big gamble but surely the same could be said for forster last season when he hadn't played a game for well over a year and we were going for 9? The point I'm trying to make here is that yes joe hart might make a few errors but he hasn't lost the ability as a keeper it's always there, its as if his confidence took a real hit when he was told straight he wasn't the keeper for guardiola and he just got sent out on loan to whoever would take him, that most likely would have affected his confidence and therefore his performances.

Massive season ahead no doubt about it, and I just want to make clear I think our first priority should be fraser forster and go all out for him because getting him at least for another year or getting edouard on another deal will be the best signing we can make this summer.

If it falls through though on the other hand, getting a keeper on board with Joe harts experience and presence in the hope lenny and Stevie woods get him working again shouldn't be sniffed at, players just need confidence and an arm around there shoulder and I don't think hart got that at the club's he went out on loan to, it would be more of a gamble in my opinion If we go with scott bain as our number 1 or bring in some unknown european who most likely will take time to settle and won't understand the importance of this season.

Mark, while lenny and Stevie Woods work on him to get him his confidence back who is going to our No1 until that happens? Or is the idea to get him in and play hime without fans in the stadium? Joe Hart's body language is all shot to pieces and to be absolutely honest I wouldn't touch him. He's 33 years of age and a keeper of that age, who has lost his confidence, it would take a helluva long time to get it back.

Joe Hart on a free and in our wage bracket would be a great bit of business imo, Woods improves every goalie that comes to us, Forster is still my No1 choice tho.

I am almost laughing into my cornflakes, Joe Hart is rubbish, you guys who want rid off Graig Gordon, for, Joe Hart, ( unbelievable)

Stengo, I understand that but who's to say it's going to take a while to bring his confidence up? Wasn't craig gordon 31 and had played 1 game in 3 years, plagued with injuries and confidence low, and he came in the summer of 2014 and was outstanding straight away.

That there in regards to gordon is the point I'm making that a keeper never loses there ability, if woodsy has improved forster and gordon then I'm sure he'll help hart do the same, besides 33 is helluva young for a goalkeeper.
