This just stinks of another paper over the cracks move which unfortunately we have become accustomed to for years now. Constant temporary repairs without ever going and doing the job properly will eventually lead to having to knock everything down and starting from scratch. This rubbish of loan signings for 6 months here n there needs to stop and we need to address this here and now because if the dark side do catch us then our board and management have a million sins to answer for. This should never have been allowed to come to this. Sitting back thinking we are invincible, we haven't even been standing still we have went backwards alarmingly fast.

We have 45 mil in the bank. Spending the way we do is a choice, not a necessity.

Unfortunately the overall quality has dropped due to this.

Seen people say Dembele was cheap. Only cheap due to a technicality in compensation package. English sides bid 7 mil for him previously.

Meaning if we actually signed players of that value we can still sell for 15-20 and make profit.

No issue with loans but the way we rely on them is a disgrace.

A 2.3 mil Xmas bonus for lawwells is also a joke.

Out wide is not an area we need to spend money on right now. The money will be spent on a CB or two, A RB and a ST as well as another on loan. Our main problem has been the defence in Europe so if the Dembele money goes towards sorting that out then I'd be happy. Bayo will score goals one thing I can say is he's good in the air and makes the runs to get on the crosses which is something we don't have. The amount of corners and free kicks we pass up as we rarely score from set pieces Bayo will have a field day with.

Where are you getting we have 45million in the bank from? Lol.

{Ed007's Note - Didn't we have about £27 million in the bank and then the Dembele money on top of that?}

Do you honestly think Rangers will beat us to the league title all because they have signed Jermaine Defoe (37 this year) and Steven Davis (35) . Sure it will be closer but we haven't hit top gear yet and we are still top of the table with a game in hand, league cup in the bag, treble treble still on, European football after Christmas, a good young squad (which will be added to) , one of the best coaches in Europe and money in the bank . Compare that to what's going on across the city and its night and day. They are throwing everything at trying to halt 10 in a row. Look at some of the players they are stockpiling on decent wages, guys like Davis, Pena, Herrera, Dorrans, Murphy, McGregor, Defoe, Flanagan, Arfield, Goldson, Katic, Worral . These guys won't be on peanuts and I wouldn't be surprised if their wage bill is higher than ours by the end of the season. They must be seriously flirting with admin#2 if they don't bring in success ( My guess is CL qualification next season is essential) and most of these guys are too far the wrong side of 30 and will need replaced in a year or 2. Too many people jumping on the MSM craving for Rangers to do well and us to be in turmoil. Would you trade places with them in the race for the league and dominance in Scotland. My guess is no. Yes now is not the time to take risks hence why I said earlier I think it would be wise if we brought in an experienced striker instead of having 3 guys under the age of 22 as our strike force. If that's on loan until the end of the season then so be it. Too many fans getting caught up in us always getting top dollar for every player we sell. Leave the money side to the board and enjoy the success whilst it's here.

Did Lawell seriously get tbat amount?

If it's true it's a disgrace, what's his combined salary?

Bigp, I'm not one for technicalities with that stuff. Let me rephrase as another administration / liquidation for the club of 'the peepo'

Need to factor in loss of CL cash too. Plus our wage budget is £50 odd mil. I think we’ll be sitting at £30-35m in the bank just now but that will fall as the months go on with less Europa cash and no new ST money. Still healthy but the loss of CL money is a big factor.

But the reason there was no CL football is because we didn't invest with the adequate quality in order to qualify. You need to speculate to accumulate and we didn't. Simple.

{Ed007's Note - Our squad with it's wage bill should have had enough quality to qualify for the CL - the blame for that lies solely at the feet of the players for not turning up.}

Our wage bill is £59.7m and our club only made £7m profit after a season in Champions league.
We are £30m worse off this season as a result and took in £7m for Armstrong, £7.5m for Van Dijk sell on and £19.8m for Dembele that’s £34m and that’s if all the money was paid in lump sums with only the Dembele money being reported that was.
We spent £9m on Edouard so £25m up after transfers and probably made about £5m in Europa League we got to last 32 last year aswell so unless we make further progress we will finish season at best £7m up again before factoring in new Hotel costs, new contract signing on fees, loan fees, for Benkovic and possibly higher wage bill again not to mention directors bonuses in excess of £1m and we still need to win the treble for those calculation which although is likely it’s not a certainty.
Yes we can possibly add a cpl of good players but we are by no means cash rich.
This from Celtic. net
These results, which declare record sales revenue of £101.6m (2017: £90.6m) and a profit before taxation of £17.3m (2017: £6.9m) , reflect a financial year in which everything went well.
The year-end cash net of bank borrowings was £36.1m (2017: £17.9m) , which equates to a net funding position of £27.0m (2017: £13.4m) when adjusted for debt and debt like items (as defined in the Summary of the Results) . This allows the Board to plan for the unexpected and manage the immediate disappointment of failing to qualify for the Group Stages of the Champions League.

Ed007 does the Dembele sale money not factor into next year's accounts?

{Ed007's Note - Yeah but the money is still in the bank as part of Lawwell trying to get some payback on Dembele was that the fee would be paid in full.}

Yes downunderboy. Lawwell got a 2.3 mil bonus.

But can't pay an extra mil or so for signings like mcginn for example.

Along with his 1.3 or whatever salary.

3.5mil he gets paid more than most English premier chairmen.

How long have we been papering over the cracks . The last 2 which should bear the brunt of this crack papering, we won a double treble, which can't be too bad because I think it is unprecedented in Scottish football. Even David and Walter, and H Dallas and about 20 players illegally registered couldn't achieve that .
Maybe if we get an opportunity to buy players that are worth more than £5 m we will do so . I know any idiot and their seems to be up to twenty such idiots in the EPL can give £10m £25m, £50m and more for players that may be better than some of ours, I hope to God, Lawwell doesn't take a funny turn and start throwing money away for average footballers.
