My head is all scrambled with all this transfer talk.
Could it be the case the club are starting to view BR as a top coach but a pretty hopeless talent spotter and want to take more control back in that area.
Ddv, kouassi, commper, hendry, Hayes, Sinclair, and many more were all BR driven signings.

MD was being worked on when RD was at the club and with his man city back ground am sure the club would have had a say in the ON deal.
Over the last few years we have spent some money just on pretty poor players.

The turn point in the hole things appears to be the musonda deal. BR fought tooth and nail to get him PL pulled out all the stops and it was a disaster.
Maybe then the club have tried to take some power back.
Am just trying to look at why there seems to be a big change in things over the last few months and this theory is all I can come up with.

You may be right with your first point jj. But it still asks the question why no one has been signed since edouard.

With an outlay of only £1m we have barely touched what should be the "warchest" it was key we did sign Edouard as both Griffiths and Dembele have been unavailable. But defence was always the issue with Gamboa, Lustig, Boyata at the world cup. Now with Ajer suspended we are down to the bare bones at the back as Compper can't buy a start right now. We should've sorted CB out before now especially now Boyata has spat his dummy out leaves us even worse off. Surely we should be waking up to some movement on signing a new CB.

You can’t throw Sinclair’s name in as a bad signing. He’s scored about 50 goals in 2 seasons from left wing!

I was thinking the same earlier mate.

If you look at most of the top clubs nowadays the managers (coaches) are basically just given players to work with. They may say they want a certain area strengthened but they usually don’t identify players.

That makes sense to me, the manager is the most important role in the club. Jack of all trades master of none comes to mind.

Either way let’s hope we don’t go back to accepting all of Man City’s rejects.
