When you think about it the Celtic team that won in Lisbon, had maybe two world class players in Jimmy Johnstone and Bobby Murdoch, and then 4 international class players and then the rest were good honest journeyman guys that you could rely on to do their job, but they had a manager, that they believed in, that they respected and they would follow his instructions, that inter Milan team were full of the Neymars and the Messis of the time, but Celtic out psyched them, out thought them and out played them.

PSG are nowhere as good as Inter were, and Celtic are nowhere as good as the Lisbon guys, but the thing is, if PSG play to their maximum and Celtic play to their best and throw away their inhibitions, PSG are there for the taking, pride comes before a fall, and they are so full of themselves, they are going to fall a long way.

Sorry aindoh but if psg play in 3rd or 4th gear they will still beat us comfortably. If they are at their best then it'll be damage limitation for us. We need to play out of our skin and hope they don't turn up to get anything.
I think it's crazy to try and compare this match to our finest hour. This psg team are full of super talented footballers whereas that inter team were full of defensive minded footballers with the mindset of winning every game 1-0. 2 completely different teams.
Also it's wrong to compare both eras matches as there is a far greater gap between Celtic and psg now than Celtic and inter in 67.

If PSG play to their best we’ve got no chance aindoh. Unfortunate but true.

Aindoh you are talking about a team that won THE most coveted club trophy in world football.
Threfore I would suggest they were ALL world class, and for me the teams of yesteryear have no chance against the super teams of now, football has changed dramatically.

Rayman although football has changed imo it's fitness and conditioning that's different . give that lions the access to the facilities and sports science of today and their class and ability would tell in any league or competition.

aindoh you are dreaming.
We are so far behind them it almost doesn't matter how good we play in a one off game and how badly they play, we'll still lose on Wednesday. For us to get anything from the game will need something close to a miracle, and yes miracles can happen but they are few and far between that's why they're called miracles! lol HH.

it wasn't naymar
it wasn't Mbop
it wasn't cavani
it wasn't di maria (wasn't playing)
it wasn't ben arfa
it wasn't draxler
it wasn't alves
it wasn't silva

I tuned in knowing all these players.

they had no week links anywhere, every position has practically the best player they can afford (which is anyone)

I was blown away by Rabiot and I had no clue who he was.

I am seriously not up on European football but even this "unknown" was world class.

I agree heart etc can win games, but these guys at half speed could win the cl.

Can't see anything other than 90 mins of torture the moro night, can't say I enjoy watching us against those super rich multi billionaire funded clubs. Looking forward to a bit of a breather in the Europa and hopefully a wee run. On the upside lads when sitting through the torture the moro night just think that's how Sevconians feel when they play us.

When I was a young lad my old man used to get a cabbie called Jim to drive myself and my brothers home to my mums some Sundays. Great auld boy, he talked endlessly about celtic and he had an old clapped out cavalier that other drivers marveled at the miles he got out of it. anyway he said there was lads at that time that turned down professional football contracts for danger money down the pitts.
That one statement says it all. No matter how good our team could of been in the last 10/ 15 years if players stayed, the point is that the lisbon team with today's money would of been dismantled and our history wouldn't exist. Psg are pretty much one of those game console/ current times dream teams. Keep the score down. Play negative and go toe to toe with anderlecht when the time comes.

Self delusion is sometimes a good thing. Why would rangers fans stick to it so passionately?

I am looking to us to put up a better show like they did against Bayern. That is all we can ask.

If they fire on all cylinders and we freeze it will be a pummelling.

If we step up and fight and play, we will still lose but by feck I will be proud. This mob will win it imo.

Get stuck in Celtic and believe in your ability.

We do.

PSG are nowhere near Inter? Are you having a laugh? PSG would destroy Inter.

The Green tinted specs are strong in this one. :)

Nostalgia can be guilty of creating false realities. That teams back in the distant past would beat the very best now. They wouldn't.

Even with fitness levels they couldn't compete. Teams like Barca, PSG and a few others would run any of the great teams of the past ragged.
