It is madness to think about selling Dembelle until it becomes a necessity, when he makes his full french debut, his value will skyrocket, it is also madness to talk about downgrading Griffith's in the pecking order for someone who is very much unproven as is the case of Solanke, probably won't come north of the border but if he does, hope it isn't another case of what happened with Guidetti.

It's not madness, the whole point is developing the squad. Rodgers isn't a massive fan on Griffiths so he has to work for his place. I agree he's a very important player for us but if a better striker comes in it's only correct to replace him. I'm sure it would be the same case for solanke.

Unless we get an offer in excess of £30m (which I can't see) then I would think the board would look at the bigger picture with what we could earn for CL qualification. I TOTALLY get the 'what if he get's a bad injury' argument. tricky one.

I agree with your first point Aindoh. If Dembele is willing to stay, and I honestly think he is, then we would be silly to sell him this season. I think he will want to play CL football for us, knowing he will participate in every game and gain further experience. He appears to be a very patient and mature kid who is astute enough to know that time is on his side.

I partly agree with your second point. I think LG would and should be rightly pissed off if he was to get pushed down the pecking order. However, I will qualify that by saying that he's at a big club and big club's are fluid in their development. The playing staff will constantly change and hopefully improve. It is up to him to secure his place in the starting line up.

As for Solanke, who knows if he will come and who knows if he will be a success. The point is, if it isn't him coming to challenge our current strikers then it will be someone else. We should be embracing that sort of investment and improvement instead of fearing it, and so should the players.

Don't really post much but on the subject of Griffiths I feel I had to. Anyway I don't see what goes on behind the scenes but on the field you can hardly fault Griffiths for his contribution. If he hadn't picked up that injury I would have expected him to score 20+ even with his limited game time.

To even consider him being third choice is insane imo, if dembele was to leave or get injured long term I'm sure he would easily pick up where he left off. I hope Rodgers issue isn't down to his ego especially with what he said when he first arrived or down to him trying to stamp his authority although I do believe Griffiths should be doing as he is asked.

Hopefully we can get to a point where we have 3 top class forwards (demblele, Griffiths+1) as we did with Larsson and co. Neither are in the same league mind you 😉.

We won't get an offer of over £25-£30 million for Dembele as our Board will make it clear to any club who show an interest that a bid isn't welcome . Interest will be snubbed at outset .

Of course its no surprise that we have no idea who may be coming in, Celtic have always been good at keeping their cards close to their hearts and Brendan is keeping this tradition.
