Anyone heard anything regarding Chelsea wanting dembele? Apparently Celtic won't consider a bid lower than 40million. Can't see it myself but it's being reported on sky app 😳😳😳

Crazy money! Would take anything over £25m

If they offered that, and that's a big if, we should take it imo, its far too much to knock back. Business is business. We can and could knock it back, but then there's the question of what if he gets injured, loses form badly etc. Got to strike while the irons hot i feel.

"If" we had to sell Gordon and dembele we could make 44million on 2 basically free transfers that crazy money for a Scottish team to make on 2 players!

We shouldn't sell. Keep him few more seasons, he keeps improving, market keeps inflating, we get 60m

Why would an English club bid in euros when both countries are in the UK?

Only passing on what's on Celtic news now page think that report came from France so may account for the euros part

If i thought we'd use even half the money of the dembele cash (20m) to put back in to summer transfer kitty I would say sell

But I think we no celtic by now, sell for 40m and buy a replacement for 4m

And the rest put into the pocket of dermo the Desmonds

Ed, you got anything on this mate? Seems to have started with sky but it does make for a crazy story.

{Ed007's Note - I'm not surprised that Chelsea have joined the list of clubs interested in Demebele, it doesn't mean they'll get anywhere as he's not for sale.}

I personally don't want the club to sell him unless he wants to go . I understand 40 million is massive money but we fell incredibly lucky with him. Say we sold him and obviously bought another forward in the summer to replace him, what if he didn't hit the ground running and we miss out on the champions league. That 40 million would then be only be worth 10 million because of lost revenues. If he wants to go, sell him after our qualifiers.

If this was early in the window I would maybe entertain it but we would have no chance of getting replacements in at this late stage. Anyway personally think it's a lot of 💩 More the media trying to unsettle us again. hh 🍀

sell for £40m and have it as part of the deal we get him back on an 18 month loan. couldn't see him playing regularly for them with Costa still there

I would say that we have Griffiths as a backup but he seems to have taken over Derk Boerrigter's medical bed. He has been out injured quite a few times this season and can't be relied on like he was last season.

we would have to take a big offer I'm afraid

it would be crazy business not too.

and perhaps a sell on clause too.

Lots of sense here, on both sides. I think the prevailing notion is that if he wants to go we shouldn't stand in his way so long as that 40M goes the other way. I don't see anything to suggest that he wants to go (credit to him and his manager either way) .

To hold on to a player valued at that kind of money would be a statement of intent, tho, wouldn't it? Notice to Europe's elite that we're coming out next year with the intent to go toe-to-toe.

Is that sort of symbolism worth 40M over the next 5 seasons or so? You better believe it. 'Optics' is the fashionable word these days: but it means that the best young talent and the established pros with thing differently about Celtic Football Club going on. Keep him I say - even if it is no more than a status symbol (and he's so much more than that) .

I'd hate to see him go but 34mill!? Problem we would have is that we realistically can only spend 4-5 million to replace as players costing more than this expect higher wages which would unbalance the squad, however I'd have no problem buying 2 4 Mill strikers in, as I think we need 3 good ones at the club and putting 8 mill in for paddy Roberts. Still leaves 18 mill for the coffers. Now that is great business for a 500k outlay

We really don't need the money. Yes it will fill the coffers but this bhoy is a massive talent who seems to love wearing our hoops.
Is this what it has come to?
Fans wanting us to sell one of our best players because a team is supposedly willing to spend silly money.
Say we do sell him, that's the bhoy gone and we could spend all the 40mill on players who might not even live up to their price tag
