Paddy McNair supposedly coming in, don't know if it's before the deadline or as a wildcard but heard it from a few folk now, imagine it would be a loan.

Heard same but permanent deal. Realistically he'll never play under Mourinho so he may as well leave full time.

Strange move if its a loan. looking at the back 4 we have, Toure/ Sviatchenko/ Simunovic/ Lustig/ O'Connell, for 2 places. the only other thought is that BR does not like the looks of 1 or 2. However if its another class player then fine by me.

cant see the reasoning behind it unless bhoyattas ta ta.

He can play as a defensive midfielder. Maybe the rock we need in front of the back 4 for big domestic games/ europe.

Can McNair not play that defensive midfield position to? Maybe that's where BR sees him!

Definitely play holding role if he comes in.

Do we really need this guy.
At centre half we have plenty of options
And if he is coming in on loan then why not just play Ajer.

I think you are spot on Kev83. The team lacks creativity in the midfield given BR's reluctance to start the like of Rogic so that is a greater priority for mine and I don't see what McNair brings that we haven't already got within the squad. I'd be even more wary based on the loan experience of last season with another Man Utd starlet in Blackett.

Agree kev, I would rather see a top class attacking midfielder come in! Get that and a new GK and I'll be happy.

Apparently he is actually a defensive midfielder who can drop in at c/ back if needed, like he did at Man U last season.

Think we will prodominately play a back 3 so may need the defenders incase of emergencys but if it's for a CM I don't know what we will get from him Iv not seen enough!

Think it's a permanent transfer guys only got 1 year left on his Utd deal.

Don't get the cry for a creative midfielder. Seems pretty clear to me that we won't be playing with a no. 10 this season. Griffiths dembele Sinclair Roberts will all be starters so to throw in a number 10 as well would be stupidly attacking. Brendan knows what he's doing.

The northern Ireland assistant manager said his best role is as a box to box midfielder.

Completely agree DG1888 realistically Armstrong, Rogic, McGregor, Johanson are all CAM not to mention, Ajer has played there, as well as the 2 young lads we have in development aswell. CM we have Brown, Biton and Ajer but apart from possibly the latter none are actually CDM! I think we need another baller in the middle a lot more than we need a CAM. And there's nothing to say we can't get a deep lying playmaker but needs a bit of steel, especially for Europe.

DG we are not crying out for a number 10! We are looking for a CM that can bring the ball forward and control the tempo of the game! We have suiting CMs but maybe Rodgers can help bitton or Rogic improve to fit the role.

A box to box midfielder is what we need, someone who can score a couple but also chip in with the defensive side of it.
Not a no 10.

I agree but I've heard a lot of people say we need a number 10 which is the last thing we need along with any more centre backs. HH.
