Brendan Rodgers is certain that he will be the new Celtic manager.

Tell us more Ed007 what have you heard?

{Ed007's Note - Rodgers has told someone (who I am not going to name for obvious reason) that he is certain the job is his. That's all I know, Gaz, but I trust the person who told me 100% or I wouldn't have posted it up. Because of who told me there must be something in it.}

2.) 06 May 2016
06 May 2016 18:18:56
If he is, let's look forward to it. Experience, desire and likes a quick passing game. He may not be my first choice but I'd get right behind him if this is true.

06 May 2016 18:21:04
Where u hear that ED? What u think bud?

{Ed007's Note - Someone told me. Personally I think it's a big risk.}

4.) 06 May 2016
06 May 2016 18:43:41
It is a risk, every new manager is. But looking at who we have been linked with he's probably the best of a bad bunch, Moyes will only take the job as a last resort and the football would be boring. If nothing else we should see some good football.

He did a great job at Swansea but not so well at Liverpool.
At Liverpool he seemed to have problems sorting out his defence, they seemed to lose a lot of soft goals. I'm not sure if he was just unlucky, or whether he is not very good at organising things at the back.
I really hope that it's the former.

RD was a big risk and look where that got us.

If we were going to go British/ Irish he would be my choice. He did a brilliant job at Swansea. Liverpool is probably the toughest job in England because along with M Utd they are the biggest club. He came closest to winning the league in 20 years or whatever. He is a little peculiar sometimes but he knows the game, and plays it the right way. He's still very young but because he started coaching in his 20's has loads of experience. I think he will change the perception of the club if he gets it, it will actually show imagination and ambition. Deila spent time with him at Liverpool and just gave him a glowing reference. Bottom line is if you respected Ronny then you've got to respect his thoughts on Rodgers! With all respect to Ed and his contacts though I will be surprised if he get's it, purely because I'm so used to mediocrity.

Every manager is a risk sometimes it just doesn't go for them.
But if it is going to be Rogers surely he has had assurancesuccess that he is getting funds to spend.

9.) 06 May 2016
06 May 2016 19:51:22
I've made my thoughts on him pretty clear already but if it is the case then you can't fault the board for ambition. It's a big statement.

06 May 2016 20:05:41
Cheers for that info Ed I'm kind of torn not sure why maybe I expected it to be someone else or maybe it kind of excites me! I remember reading Darren O'Dea saying he is an amazing coach on the training field. Everyone has good things to say about his coaching! But is Ronny not meant to be a great coach? He seem to loose the Liverpool dressing room a bit at the end of his rain not unlike our Ronny! He did play good football a Dimond in midfield if I remember right with one holder and three free to Rome. I hope if what you have been told is true he let's the current group of player know he is the boss and what he says goes! Hopefully he has a backbone and sticks up for himself when it comes to players he wants and doesn't want! He is the big name we had hoped! So if he is the man we are going to get then let's get behind him!

Regards your previous comments, successful managers need quality players, MON had larsson at his peak, was he a fluke? I wouldn't call Rodgers or MON a fluke - to be successful you need a combination of everything; skill, vision, hunger, attitude.
I agree Rodgers would be a big statement and a bit of prestige, hopefully there will be funds, because we are seriously limited on quality.

Id give him chance. Best of names we are linked with, just glad its not return of Lennon. Will be interesting to see spin likes of Hartson and Sutton put out about next manager. Pair of trouble makers.

13.) 06 May 2016
06 May 2016 23:26:58
I would be happy with Rodgers but I see in the papers that they are confident he is going back to Swansea as soon as the last game is played.

{Ed007's Note - I thought the same, Jon, or even the Valencia job might be his, If it hadn't been THIS certain person who told me I'd have laughed it off, because of who told me I believe that there must be something in it with Rodgers in the running.
Remember it was Rodgers who said he was certain the job was his, it's not me saying it.
And everyone on here knows we don't just make up stories to attract hits.}

Island- I didn't say he was a fluke. I said it was pertinent. But to Answer your question: was MON a fluke? No - but he was extremely fortunate, in much the same way JB was not.

07 May 2016 00:16:40
Dunno Ed, why should we believe you when Mr. Keevins and Mr. Commons have already told us it's Lenny? Lol. Good appointment for me if it happens.

{Ed007's Note - I'm only passing on the info, Kev. Whether he gets the job or not I 100% believe he said what he did about it.}

16.) 07 May 2016
07 May 2016 00:20:23
Great post ed. Do you think this is the job he wants? The reason I ask is I've heard him nail his colours to the mast in the past, as have others but have then been lured by the bright lights of relegation battles in the epl or mid table mediocrity of the championship. He will have offers of the above with bigger comparative budgets and wages but I'd this is a matter of choice I'm all for it.

{Ed007's Note - He might feel he might never get the chance again, he doesn't need money, a crack at the CL and a few league titles and trophies. Who knows buddy.}

17.) 07 May 2016
07 May 2016 00:24:43
If Ronnie recomends him, that says it all for me.

07 May 2016 02:32:25
Ed, forgive me for asking but are you providing "Sky Sources" if you get what i mean?

{Ed007's Note - C'mon JB, I expected better than that from you. Rodgers told another candidate that he was certain the job was his. Would Ed001 nd especially Ed002 let me post that under muy own account if there was no basis in it, thi was an putting his name to it not an anonymous poster that seen Roy Keane in Glasgow.
For all the new whinging bitches that have appeared. I don't earn onen single penny for doing this, whether 2 or 2 million people read it, all revenue goes towards the costs of running multiple sites. Things change, we get things right and we might get some things wrong but at the time of publishing you get facts and the truth with no spin, even if you don't like the news.
If the sites do fold over the financial difficulties I'm sure Sly will keep you all up to date with what their sources know - and all for £30 a month.
He'llgo mental at me saying this but it sticks in my craw. Him and Ed033 moved to Dubai for tax breaks etc and the daft b@strad went and fell in love with a beatiful young woman over there. So after ignoring my advice he ddcided she was the one and he proposed.
Stop puking for now, that's not the worst, after starting these sites 13 (?) Years ago, working on them 14 - 20 hours a day, overseeing all the changes etc because of the costs of just running the sites Ed1 is now moving to spain to live with his folks to save for a wedding.
Remember that when you see begging for one single blog compared to the pages we run.
Here I'm not begging for money, Ed001 has always said these pages would be free), I'm just pointing out the way things like that really run. I can't undestand why anyone would need to ask for money to run a blog. Ed033 might know....

The content in which you stated :
'Landed on his feet' aligned itself to 'fluke'. Obviously good players are 'pertinent' to any managerial set up.
I appreciate you slated Brendan, in your previous post (possibly in the belief he would never come to Celtic? ) however following ed's breaking rumour it appears we may be in with a shout. He wasn't my first choice with the names mentioned but I'm well up for him.
So i'm sure nobody will hold it against you to climb down off that fence you own and get behind the new man (if he is appointed) and post some support for what would be an ambitious 'big name' appointment?
hail hail.

It may well be the case that Brendan Rodgers has said the job at Celtic is his. IF HE WANTS IT.
He may not want it, hence the recent talk about him going back to Swansea.

Hail Hail.

Island, if didn't "align" itself to anything. You did aligned it to what you needed to what ever point you are desperately trying to make. I've already explained that I meant fortunate. Which he was. I've already explained I he was successful 1 from 4 seasons. Which he was.

How can a piece of info from ED get turned into an argument? Some folks on here look to be contrary.

You can lay off the patronising comments as well. I had the sane belief for BR becoming manager as anyone else - be that RDM, MM or DM. I didn't know. I was originally (and this fine) replying to someone else mentioning him. If you read above you'd see I already said I'd congratulate the board on the ambition behind the appointment - and unlike a lot of people on here, I would be backing the manager (and team) 100% regardless of my initial feelings on his appointment.

And I'm not afraid to have an opinion in case someone becomes manager, that's ridiculous. So ridiculous that it could be turned on its head--

You're only defending BR in case he does. Then you can claim some higher ground later and say:

"I wanted/ supported him from the start. X didn't. Y didnt. But I did. "

I'd correct the typos but there are many. I blame Steve Jobs.

Don't get me wrong Ed. I always believe what you write but i was just wondering if you were just setting them up for a fall as the Ed's did before. I know you have excellent contacts inside and outside of the club. If you say you believe your contact 100% then that's good enough for me.

{Ed007's Note - I wouldn't pull your leg over something as important as the manager without making it obvious to at least the more sharper readers.

I don't really like watching EPL games but when BR was at Swansea I watched them any time I could the way he had them playing was magnificent one touch fast moving football it was almost as good as watching Barcelona if he is to come in and get Celtic play like that it will be a joy.

My point is that, you as a regular poster come across as a bit of a stirrer and always seem to be claiming some sort of moral high ground. Different opinions make the game what it is, and I thought I would pick your arguments up for a change.

27.) 07 May 2016
07 May 2016 19:41:55
Okay Island, you're embarrassing yourself now.

You say I come across as a regular stirrer - because I have a different opinion. Then you say different opinions make the game what it is - and then say you decided to pick my arguments up for a change; in other words, you're a stirrer.

Kudos. You managed to contradict your own contradiction.

I'm not even being drawn into this any more. You've already shown your arguing for arguing sake - or picking up my argument (for a change) . Knock yourself out. Reply to this. Go on and on. Do what you will. You may have time for such a pointless endeavor, but I don't.

Maybe Rodgers is that arrogant he just assumes he's the number 1 candidate for every job. That confidence isn't always a bad thing right enough, it could be what's needed to put ped in his place.
