Ed007: I'm new here, but I assume your the man to ask, I've been reading tonight we're to complete the signing of Manchester City youngster Patrick Roberts.
On loan I assume, did you hear any update?
Do we actually need the wee man?

{Ed007's Note - It looks like Roberts will be coming in but if De Bruyne's injury is serious it could scupper it. For me personally I don't think we need him, especially only until the end of the season but the good thing is it means we aren't signing O'Halloran, so every cloud and all that.}

Yeah totally agree about O'Halloran, but Roberts at 18 year old bought for £11Mill by city seems last season seems like a no brainer to our benefit. 😄👍🍀.

{Ed007's Note - What's the point of bringing him in until the end of the season though? We don't need anyone to win the league, hopefully the treble, so all he'll do is hold back one of our own youngsters.}

Sorry Ed but I'd rather we signed Michael O'Halloran permanently and developed him than sign Patrick Roberts for 4 months to help Man City develop him, its a no brainer, O'Halloran is a good pacy young forward who would improve greatly playing with better players .

{Ed007's Note - I don't see a 25 year old as a young player and I'd much rather see our young players get a chance than see us bringing in an average SPFL player. Do you really see a 25 year old as a player to bring in as a project and develop? If we are buying players at that age I'm looking for a better standard and quality than Michael O'Halloran who is no better than what we've got, in fact he's worse.}

That's my original question but now I'm warming to the signing,
Ronnie got a cunning plan lol.
But at least he'll be a great influence on our youths which can't be bad.
Hh Ed👍🍀.

{Ed007's Note - (yes)

There can not be any justification or sense in signing an 18 year old on a six month loan, that can be of any benefit to Celtic, the only one getting any benrfit is man c, there youngster is just beig kept fit at the detriment of any youngster coming up thru the ranks and being denied a place by this wunderkid, Celtic need to develop and encourage and play their own 18 year olds rather than be a patsy to man c.

the man city conveyor continues. I wish the deal had been made to join in the summer. 18 or not he is still an 11m player. We have sviatchenko and if that stuttering ljuban deal goes through we will have spent our tin busting 2m!
I'd like to see nesbit getting the odd game but he isn't ready for playing week in week out.
If forrest decides he isn't signing then I'd freeze him out, freeze him out anyway tbh :) .

Why would you freeze out one of our players that has really come on this year?

Cmcbhoy. Forrest has stayed fit. I wouldn't say he a has came on any. I still see the same player with the same abilities and same numerous failings. I don't rate wingers with no awareness, poor finishing and final ball. Added to that if he isn't going to sign a new deal we are going to upping his sign on fee which I don't think he deserves considering his input over the last few years.

Any time I've seen Forrest this year he's been a class apart. I agree that he needs to be more consistent and that his final ball is not always the best but I think if he's managed the right way and stays fit he could well be a top top player. I did hear that he wasn't happy with the contract offered. He should accept anything with the injuries he's had.

Ed, I agree that we should be going for a better standard of player than O'Halloran, but I think he is better than you are rating him, he would do a good job for us and that seems to be our market nowadays .

{Ed007's Note - We've got enough deadwood and average players at the club without adding to it. Who would O'Halloran get in the squad in front of, who would you drop for him? Don't you think that if he was any good he'd be at a higher level than St Johnstone by the time he reached 25, he hardly got a game down in England and now after two years of being an average player in a poor St Johnstone team you think he could do a job for us? And here was me thinking we were meant to be building a team to qualify for the CL.
By the way I've been told that we've never contacted either St Johnstone or O'Halloran.}

He is an ok spl player fast but not a great finisher.
The only reason he has been given all this extra attention by the media is to soften blow to rangers when st johnstone turned them over. Now he is a star!

{Ed007's Note - Exactly, and it seems because of TRIFC's interest all of a sudden some people are thinking he's good enough to play for us. If we has signed O'Halloran last summer the fans would have been seething and rightly so.}
