According to some reports VVD wants out now. If this is true in my opinion we should sell him to the highest bidder not worth keeping a player that wants away.
And as for me good luck big man and thanks for your time with us hope you have a great career a true professional that has not bad mouthed us for a move

If he is that great a professional then he should wait until Celtic are ready to sell him and not the other way round. He was the one who signed a contract but we all know that means nothing these days. I like Virgil he is an all round centre back who also has good distribution and a great free kick but I sometimes get the impression that he believes he is better than he really is. Maybe in time he will be.

Would you rather him say nothing stay next year then get he haw for him?

Tony2bhoy, I think Virgil has two years left .
Virgil has already told us he reads Celtic fans forums and I am sure he has read many posts Celtic fans posts that he is going to leave . I hope they haven't affected his thinking .

{Ed007's Note - LMFAO!!! That's one of your best yet. :=D

Thanks Ed007, but I will never reach your standard 😍😆

{Ed007's Note - Not many will.}

Tony2bhoy of course Celtic must get the best possible deal for Virgil but it must be on the club's terms. I don't think it's right for any player to speak to the press in an attempt to alert suitors. The problem is that the whole transfer system is broken and contracts don't really mean that much.

I agree lawman but if you look at it another way a lot/most of foreign players don't come here because they love our club its because they see us as a stepping stone to the bigger leagues more so the EPL if we stop players from doing that we will stop a market for that certain player and a big potential in lost earnings from highlighting them and bringing them on. Plus why keep a player if he wants to leave? VVD in my opinion is being honest about his feelings and he is not belittling our club for a move. And there is no way Pedro will let him go unless he is happy with the deal

Tony2bhoy. According to what we are reading Virgil seems to have shifted his position , and now seems to be demanding a move . The media may have changed his words to make what he is saying into a demand for a move .
If that is the case and Virgil continues to agitate for a move then Mr Lawwell may have no option but take what ever is offered for him . I would imagine the last thing Deila wants is a senior player walking around with a hump on him every day .

{Ed007's Note - Chris you've repeatedly said VvD would be here next season.....

I understand the market model that the club prescribes too and without decent media rights/money it's a sensible approach. I personally get frustrated that by adopting this method of making money the club will never have a strong team to challenge in Europe as we keep on selling our most valuable players.

again lawman you are spot on but unfortunately for us that is the way it is until we can get a better TV deal sorted out and that is not going to happen any time soon with the men in charge of our game we just have to except it

Get 10 mill for him now and get a replacement sorted before qualifiers no one player is bigger than CFC

Ed007 . Of course I repeatedly said that Virgil would be here until after the qualifiers .
I based my reasoning , on the fact that up on to yesterday Virgil hadn't made a demand to move and also Deila, who I believe to be an honest man , said Virgil would be at Celtic for a long time , at least until after the Champions League qualifiers .

As you know Ed007 , some posters have been posting about Virgil leaving every window since he was with us 6 months , and I have no doubt they will be right .

{Ed007's Note - No Chris, let's get the facts right, it was YOU that only found out yesterday that VVD said he wanted to leave when it was made public. His demand to leave was made last summer and repeated throughout the season when the subject of a contract extension was mentioned by the club - the last time being after the League Cup final. You were adamant he was staying and in your usual patronising way tried to put down anyone who mentioned him leaving.
VVD was raging that he wasn't allowed to leave last summer, remember how he spat the dummy out and missed the match up at Dundee to 'get it out his system' as RD put it?
There was never ANY doubt that VVD would be leaving this summer if an acceptable is made, I've been saying it for months.}

007 You got it wrong mate he spat the dummy out because Chris was on here saying he was staying lol
sorry Chris just a bit of fun

{Ed007's Note - That's what happens when you try to pass your opinion or what you want to happen as fact, it can always come back to bite you in the butt.}

Ed007 . Obviously " his demands" last year were resisted or else he would be gone, the same thing happened his January "demands ". The fact that he had a good season with us indicates to me that he was reasonably happy at least to stay . This summer up until yesterday there was only vague paper talk about Virgil wanting to leave . That's my take .

Is Delia telling lies when he says Virgil is going no where for a long time , especially not before the Champions League Qualifiers .
Ed007 Am I not supposed to believe our manager?

{Ed007's Note - I don't know what you're supposed to do, have you ever thought of following another team?}

Ed007
Once a Celt , always a Celt . Obviously you don't know what it is to be a celtic fan , or you wouldn't make such a suggestion .

No matter how clever a person is he can always get it wrong from time to time .
I have clear memory of someone saying in the first half of the season that Griffith would be away on loan to Hibs last January .
The fact he didn't , did not mean that the world came to an end , or did this forum suffer long term damage .

{Ed007's Note - There you go again making things up. I said Hibs wanted him on loan and it was all agreed until the last minute, Griffiths was not pulling his weight and was surplus to the manager's plans. I think what the CFC manager and the player himself has said since has proven that once again I was right.
Chris, as you know I think that the club and the support will be just fine while you sit and worry about what's going on at Ibrox or your local Orange/Masonic hall, you are everything that is wrong with the CFC support and people like you repulse me, you're about as much use to society as the state-aid plonker and I know that the feeling of your own worthlessness is eating away at you, the thought of your pitiful existence thrills me.}

Wow, that seems a bit harsh

{Ed007's Note - Things are not always what they seem; the first appearance deceives many; the intelligence of a few perceives what has been carefully hidden.}

{Ed007's Note - I love a bit of banter with the troops and the intellectual jousting with the likes of Chris but I'm not having anyone question my support for the club mate.}
