Celtic supposedly stepping it up to bring in Armstrong in Jan, ED any news on this? I think we should offer 3m to Utd to bring in him and GMS see if they take the bait

They rate Armstrong at £2.5m and GMS at £250.000 so there is no way Celtic are going to offer £3m for both of them especially when we get GMS for nothing in the summer too many people at celtic with the biscuit tin mentality .

2.) 20 Jan 2015
Celtic will bid on last day for something like £50k to sign GMS this window. Take it or recieve nothing. I don't think Dundee United can afford to not take £

{Ed007's Note - Dundee Utd are in a great financial position to turn it down. They posted a net profit of £1.2m for the last financial year and that figure did not include the £2.8m sale of Andrew Robertson to Hull City, or Ryan Gauld's £3m switch to Sporting Lisbon.}

3.) 20 Jan 2015
Forgot about that ed. Surely though they would want to take some £ rather than nothing?

{Ed007's Note - There's circa £180k of a difference between finishing 3rd and 4th in the Premiership and circa £250k between 2nd and 3rd. Utd are chasing a European place, there's a league cup final place up for grabs and they're still in the Scottish Cup. Would you take £50k for Commons?}

4.) 20 Jan 2015
Ed, the main reason for their current position is that they have highly competent businessmen running the club so surely taking a lower price for GMS would be more savvy than paying him another 4/5 month's wages and receiving no fee?

{Ed007's Note - So you'd take £50k for Commons?}

5.) 20 Jan 2015
Not me personally but I'm sure Pedro would be tempted

6.) 20 Jan 2015
Also the Commons situation is completely different. He wants to stay at Celtic whereas it's already official that GMS is leaving Dundee United.

Good point ed can see why they are saying 250k now. Would make sense to reject anything below that figure when they still have a lot to play for

What's your thoughts on Armstrong? Do you think we could get him in before end of the window?

{Ed007's Note - I have no idea where the Armstrong story came from but nobody's contacted Dundee Utd about him.}

8.) 20 Jan 2015
My understanding is that Celtic are no longer interested in Armstrong and are instead going to work on the progress of Henderson who has 5 years on Armstrong and has far better potential.

9.) 20 Jan 2015
If we had a suitable replacement for commons and if he was not to feature in Deilas plans, I would be happy with something rather than nothing.

10.) 20 Jan 2015
They put a price tag of 6m on Ciftci and Armstrong my guessing is that's 3m each I can't see them valuing Ciftci at 3.5m and 2.5 for Armstrong as he's the better player. So my opinion would be offer 3m for both Armstrong and GMS see if they take it. Or add a 10-15% sell on fee on top for Armstrong if they refuse the offer to sell both. I rate Henderson but that's all we hear from Celtic is potential we need some proven players too

11.) 20 Jan 2015
Armstrong is far better than Henderson, he may well be 5 years younger but he's 10 years behind in footballing terms

Never heard so much 💩 in all my life. Sorry I have, keep forgetting every year for the past 6/7 years Pedro says we can sign a £5 million plus player

Dundee United have just stated that they have had no offers from Celtic or anybody else for Armstrong or any other of their players.

I'd love to know where sly sports get there sources from by the way! Says celtic have entered into negotiations for Armstrong and tryin to agree a fee! I think they just make it up as they go along by the way! I for one would be stunned if Lawell payed 2.5 million for anyone in the SPL! I really rate Armstrong and would love to see him in the hoops, but I'm afraid there's no chance! Hopefully I'm proved wrong but! We'll be lucky to spend any money in this window, just like the last one!

14.) 20 Jan 2015
A lot of negativity on here I think celtic will sign GMS and Armstrong before the end of this window. Will we get anyone else probably not might sign gudetti on a permenent basis but can't see us doing much more if we get them two in. I am all for buying good scottish talent I thing armstrong is better than biton and might even take over from brown in years to come. And GMS is better than what we have out wide just now if he can stay fit.

15.) 20 Jan 2015
Sam I don't think its negativity at all! I really hope we do get Armstrong and gms but I don't think we'll pay out the money! Just being realistic unfortunately, we've barely spent a penny in the past 3 or 4 windows and nuthin has made me think otherwise! But like I said I hope I'm proved wrong and we sign both of them in this window!

16.) 21 Jan 2015
I think we will get GMS, Armstrong and one more in purely on the basis Guidetti ain't coming so the 3m will be used elsewhere. Agree although Henderson is a decent young player and has potential he is miles behind Armstrong

{Ed007's Note - Well Armstrong is four years older than Henderson and has a lot more experience than Henderson. It's an unfair comparison to make considering Armstrong has played over 140 games and Henderson hasn't even made 20 appearances.
I'd say Henderson is a better player today than Armstrong was at 18.}
