See a 3m fee has been agreed with man city for guidetti so now down 2 the board and guidetti. I really hope the board pull out all the stops get him permanent then we focus on sorting the defence asap

seen this 3m fee floating around aswel mate but for a player on a SEASON long loan and out of contract in the summer surely some of these reporters/pundits should do there calculations and realize we get him for compensation money

maybe i'm looking at this all wrong but it makes sense in my eyes but no newspaper or commentator has even mentioned the way I think. they all waffle on about this 3, 4 or even 5million fee

2.) 15 Dec 2014
Kieran_bhoy your right. It is a development fee club would be liable for. Newspapers talk $hit just to fill pages and sell papers. Why would club pay £3m for a player they have on loan untill end of season and an agreement Guidetti is at celtic untill end of season regardless who is interested. There's also the crucial point of Guidetti being a free agent in the summer and can be signed on a pre-contract in a couple of weeks. Does anyone honestly think he will care if "fee" has been agreed? Ball has always been in Guidetti court- not celtic, not man city

{Ed001's Note - but paying a fee would enable the club to complete a deal before anyone else could make him any kind of offer.}

3.) 15 Dec 2014
@ed001 surely with january fast approaching though it wouldn't matter as Guidetti could still sign pre-contract for which ever team he wanted?

{Ed001's Note - he could if you don't get a deal done now, yes. Otherwise he could take a permanent move to you immediately.}

4.) 15 Dec 2014
@ed001 board should of signed him months ago

Guidetti has previously said that money isn't everything to him. But it isn't 'nothing' to him either.
I suspect he'll wait until January and see what the best deal he can get might be, whatever team that is.
He'll still want to go to a team where: (a) he will play regularly and,
(b) where he can realistically win trophies.
That may be Celtic but it could also be a handful of teams in other countries. He knows Real Madrid won't be coming for him but he'll still have certain expectations. We may get him and we may not. No-one can say for certain and whilst he may be enjoying his stint at Paradise he'll know that he could have just as good an experience elsewhere too. I suppose it's all about what clubs show an interest and perhaps one or two might be keeping quiet until January when they could get in quick and get him signed up and avoid all the speculation that usually comes with possible pre-contract signings.

Chrisbhoy I think he will wait untill january aswell, it makes sense on his behalf or any other player.

If there is any truth in a £3m fee being agreed, then its bad business on celtics behalf when they can sign him on a pre contract in January for buttons and still have him at club untill then on loan.

Peter Lawwell grumbled over £500k in valuation over Finnbogasson, there is no way he would pay £3m at this point of time in guidetti contract.

7.) 15 Dec 2014
I suspect that's the case DN30.
Lawwell's not going to spend that money now when he can possibly get the lad for very little money and use the surplus to bolster his wages.
I'd like him to sign but we don't always get what we want, do we?
We need our defence sorted too. There is a collective bomb scare waiting to go off every time opposing teams have the ball. Look at St. Mirren, they had 2 chances early on when the ball came in from the left and our defenders were nowhere to be seen. And I mean nowhere. Virgil can shout and wave his arms as much as he likes but he's part of our defensive puzzle too. I think he might be doing a Sally McMoist in his head (losing interest) and looking for a January move himself.

8.) 15 Dec 2014
Hopefully he does sign. It will be a good bit of business.

Defence should be a priority in January

9.) 16 Dec 2014
Sorry if this has been covered but I'm still not grasping this?

If we have JG until May and he can be signed on a contract come janury. Why on earth would we spend cash getting him. Celtic are surely on the case with him everyday and he knows the script. Even if we where to agree a fee with him in jan, a club can still offer a pre contract for him to make a desision.

And if the 3m is a 'development fee', why is it we got Ledley and Matthews through the pre contract agreement without paying this?

10.) 16 Dec 2014
@91bhoy its newspapers talking $hit mate. Development fee would be less than £500k and a lot less than Ledley and Matthews as he has never played a first team game for Man City.

Even if this alleged £3m fee has been agreed, it's a pointless venture because guidetti has to agree and come january can negotiate with whichever club he wants and no club can stop him.
