According to certain agents in London celtic are looking at a year long loan deal for Tom huddlestone to fill the central midfield roll left vacant by wanyamas move, this is also a good move for huddlestone to play in champions league football because he's surplus to requirements at white hart lane . If he performs to a high standard and prove his fitness then a move to other epl clubs should happen . Jimayr {Ed007's Note - Well let him go and perform and prove his fitness using some other club instead of us.}

I'm with Ed on this one, I also don't believe in bringing loans in no point bringing someone in to help another team sell a player, didn't see the point in miku coming in last year and would feel the same if we ended up with him.t

2.) 07 Aug 2013
I agree, loans are something a proper big club never really does. It smacks of desperation and short term thinking. You should simply be committing to buy a player you rate and have scouted thoroughly-we have banked enough money. Please god we actually spend some of it on quality, I am sick of saying the same thing over and over and over and over and over! Paul

3.) 07 Aug 2013
Well said Ed, we're too big a club to be used for some player who canny get a game but if he performs well will earn megabucks from a transfer. let the EPL keep these underachievers!!!!

Total rubbish, loans can be a way to land a player for less while he proves himself, look at Sammy and Forster for 2, I do agree that last minute knee jerk loans can be costly but they can and do sometimes offer a great deal

Dannybhoy {Ed007's Note - It has worked out for us twice and if you're honest remember that Samaras was the team's boo boy for years and 99% of fans would have been happy to see him leave. I said for two years it was ridiculous and a total embarrassment that a club CFCs size only had a GK on loan and didn't have our own recognised No.1.
How many other loans have worked for us, what was the point of having Keane, Bellamy, Miku or Lassad amongst a raft of others at the club? A fortune in loan fees, wages, insurance, housing etc pi$$ed down the drain with nothing to show for it. All the while holding back the development of our own young players. I said on the day Miku and Lassad came in that it was a mistake, neither player would play much and would leave in a year's time after taking a fortune out of the club leaving us out of pocket on both deals.
Plus why the hell should we give a player the chance to prove himself to other EPL clubs, is that where you see the club's standing in the game?}

Technically big teams do take players on loan,

remember man utd, took henrik larsson on loan.

Inter milan do loans and AC just loaned one of their players from inter for a year!

, ajax just took bojan on loan.

there are and have been others recently.

6.) 07 Aug 2013
I don't giva monkeys for any milan side or ajax, in fact I don't giva for any team apart from ours and unless its messi etc coming on loan then eff off, ., .kbarry

7.) 07 Aug 2013
We've got Tom rogic I want to see him play every game.

8.) 07 Aug 2013
I think you always get the exception to the rule, fair enough if Manchester United have had 1 loan player in 100 years. Also Italy are a bit of a freak example in that they part own players as well, what other country really does that. My point is that in general I think you should be putting all your efforts into the long term-players you have scouted over a period of time. When they're on loan it's all half hearted-they usually live in a hotel etc. You want players settled on a long contract, then if it doesn't work at least there can be no recourse. It's similar to renting/owning a property in that with loans you are paying someones salary but at the end of the day he's not your asset, you usually have to pay a lump sum just to get the player on loan these days also! Cheers Paul

9.) 07 Aug 2013
I also meant to say that when Forster first arrived(on loan) I didn't fancy him at all. Last season after he signed a contract with us he looked world class! I respect your opinions folks, it's just I think we should be spending any money we have on full signings-we are always pleading poverty, even when we shouldn't be! Paul

10.) 07 Aug 2013
Ed I think you are being a bit unkind.

Miku played and won against Barca.

Keane scored a goal a game for us.

We were crying out for Bellamy to sign after his loan spell.

I think Huddleston has had his problems but played really well for Spurs last year. He is a Premiership player but considering Spurs broke their transfer record to secure Paulinho he might not get games. {Ed007's Note - Well look at that, three prime examples of a long and lustrous CFC career. What use were they to the club in the long term? Keane and Bellamy have never had any intention of signing for CFC full time, if you think there was any chance of either, then sorry, you're deluded.}

11.) 07 Aug 2013
Loan signings aren't usually great idea but probably has more to do with players desire and commitment, which is probably why they are on loan in first place! Anyway, should always be an option to keep open I suppose. hopefully we don't need to get any panic loans though!. funny feeling another team from Glasgow might need a panic loan soon maybe (wonga)

12.) 07 Aug 2013
On loan & possibly 5th choice behind Brown, Ledley, Kayal, Rogic (not to mention the youth coming through). Who benefits from this? I seriously doubt this will happen unless Kayal is off somewhere. Real question is where's our new 4th (or arguably 3rd) striker?
Randi

13.) 07 Aug 2013
Ed your spot on end of,, NO tick please, ., .kbarry {Ed007's Note - That's a couple of times you have agreed with me over the last few days KB, are you feeling ok? ;-)

14.) 07 Aug 2013
Total nonsense about big clubs shouldn't loan players. Athletico Madrid have had chelsea keeper courtious on loan for a third season now. Aslong as they r good enough and there's a view 2 a permanent switch wheres the harm? Would rather get a player in for 6-12 months and see what he's like rather than sign a dud for 2-3 mil {Ed007's Note - So pay out maybe £1m in a loan fee and pay him £20k a week, if it doesn't work out he goes back to his parent club, we are still looking for a player in that position and we have just wasted £2m with no return on a transfer fee. That makes sense to you does it?}

15.) 07 Aug 2013
Hi Ed,

I'm not speaking about a long Celtic career, after all they are loan signings. The only one I mentioned that we (the support) were wanting to sign long-term was Bellamy. Couldn't afford Keane without Dermot's help.

We moved on a lot of dead wood this close season - if Huddleston turns out to be dead wood we can just give him back.

I know what you are saying but if the right player is offered to us on a loan deal Neil will bring him in.

16.) 07 Aug 2013
Guessing at figures there never said anything bout a player in the 20k bracket or who would comand a 1million fee. Our transfer strategy is 2 mainly look 2 buy young players with potential and sell them on so if john park scouted players who fall in2 that category a don't see a problem. Only under the right circumstances though obviously as in there's a realistic chance of singing them. That no what we did with forster was that a bad idea? {Ed007's Note - Who are you going to get in on loan for less than £1m? We got that much for Bangura, so even a half decent player on £10k a week that is still £1.5 million wasted, with no chance of any return.}

17.) 07 Aug 2013
With regards to the milan post, AC can't afford to buy players outright they are skint that's why they are turning to loans, and inter clearly want that player to develop in Serie A, as for Ajax takin Bojan, they are as skint as AC and just got money off celtic for Derk, they coulndt afford to buy Bojan outright either. Loans might work for skint clubs but I think we have lost our 2 best players and your wanting to replace them with guys that will be here for a year and move on! And Ed is right about Forster, he's the only one that's worked out properly, big sammi hasn't been up to it until last season, and I think we will see more of the old sammi this season. We need to SIGN players on good contracts and not just sign anyone, sign someone that will go straight into the team and not warm the bench like most when the come to play for the hoops. Miku and lassad were a joke of an idea, I used to think juarez was our worst signin under lenny, but seein they 2 changed my mind, miku couldn't hit water if he fell out a boat and as for lassad only thing had going for him was he could of won a 'I looklike sammi' competition.
