James Forrest is the latest player being linked with a move away from Celtic. Everton are said to be lining up a £8m bid for the youngster with Cardiff also interested.

I'm a huge Forrest fan and always defend him on here but i've said previously anything over 6 million has to be looked at so 8 million is a no brainer. Great money for player we've brought through. I don't know how true that figure is though.

2.) 01 Jul 2013
9.5-10 just like our last academy player, we turned down 7 two years ago from qpr I think so for me it's 10. If its an academy player who is wanted and has talent like Forrest 10 has to be the mark

3.) 01 Jul 2013
Why would martinez be in for forrest for 8mil when he can get mcgeady for half that and is a long time admirer? james forrest is the most overrated celtic player in history, he's an alright player to bring on in the last 10 or 15 minutes of a game, he's never the player the way some of our fans get on, and lennon 's little prodigy, he's brutal i'd bit anyones hand of for 3mil.(sorry lads that's my opinion on the situation ) belfastbhoy

A lot of people seem to dislike Forrest because he lacks end product, which is true, but he's the only player we have with real pace who can take a man on, also puts a great shift in for the team. Would like to keep him but if anything like £8m came in for him then I'd take it.

5.) 01 Jul 2013
I don't think he's worth 10 million to be honest. If his season hadn't been wrecked by injury last year and he had followed up his debut season by progressing last year then yes I would probably be agreeing with you but after how it turned out I don't feel 10 million is realistic. I think he's a fantastic wee player and I hope a bid never comes to be honest. I hope he stays injury free and gets a run in the team and silences the doubters.

6.) 01 Jul 2013
I have to agree with 1 of the other replys, I've never been a Forrest fan. Anything around £4/5m i'd say goodbye

7.) 01 Jul 2013
I have been pretty critical of young Forrest, I just don't think he has progressed as he should have.Granted injury has played a part but rarely does he shine. If this is true I would take it, bring in GMS for £1.5-2m and move on.green jhedi

Your all completely mad, how can you all talk so much rubbish about one of our own? Wee forest is very young by the time he is 23-24 he will leave mcgeady in the dust. I say hold on to the bhoy and let him fulfil his potential were he belongs. But if he does go for anything it should be 8-10, then like green Jedi says bring in gms for the 1.5 and get mcgeaoch blooded.

Good player injured a lot if we get 8 million for him take it and give mcgeough more game time

10.) 01 Jul 2013
Please let it be true, I don't believe he's worth half that to be honest. Can't cross, scared to go on the outside and sorry but he's just plain lazy.

11.) 01 Jul 2013
Please let this be true, Would take 4. Has pace and that's it. Overrated is an understatement, take the money and buy two decent wingers.

Last post. Outragous comment. Sopotcelt.

13.) 01 Jul 2013
Agree with most of the comments take the money and run. Don't ever remember him lighting up a game, there is not even a comparison with Aiden. He also sticks his hands out everytime some breaths on him which does my head in!

Forrest is a great wee player. Forget what he's worth or not worth. His season was wrecked by injury, he shouldn't have been thrown in against Juventus after being out for so long and wasn't fully fit for the cup final against Hibs, the 2 games people keep referring back to. The criticism is shocking he gets on here. Everyone is entitled to there opinion but its as clear as day some people are going over the score as a result of there seemingly being a Pro Forrest camp and an Anti Forrest camp.

I literally can't wait to ram it down peoples throats on here when he starts running riot again for Celtic. I've wrote down a few regular posters names who've been laying into wee shoulders big time in anticipation.

He has faults, no doubt about it. The throwing his arms up when he's had his shirt pulled looking for a foul is frustrating. Even more so when we don't get the foul and he doesn't chase to get the ball back. I'll admit that needs removed from his game but his vision, pace, movement, link up play and potential are there for everyone to see. His crossing isn't bad like people keep saying, its inconsistent. Sometimes its brilliant like the assist to win the scottish cup semi-final against Dundee Utd right on Stokes's head.

He must get himself fit or his development will be badly stunted and he will turn into a Donnelly or a Burchill. But to put him into that category already is just unfair I feel.

Again though lads, your entitled to your opinions. Just keep it fair eh, he's one of our own.

15.) 01 Jul 2013
@belfastbhoy I'd have Forrest in a hoops jersey before McGeady 9 times out of 10. Forrest is quicker, more direct and at 21 has a far better end product. He will continue to improve whereas McGeady reached a decent level and has just stayed there. Just my humble opinion.

Does nobody remember last season when Forrest was being hailed as on of the three amigos? he was at times the ONLY player turning up in games! injury has stifled him this season and rushing back has sent him back. every player has their price but some of the criticism here is unwarranted. Celtic supporters?

17.) 02 Jul 2013
From what I know James does not want to leave so he would have to be forced out the door. Which is unlikely as we don't need to sell.

18.) 03 Jul 2013
I think if you take forrest and stick him at 5 on a list of Celtics current best players.
Then add a player - better above forrest, worse below.
Ledley, Hoops, Stokes, Broony, etc etc - I don't think it would be long before Forrest would be bottom of the list!
So 5-8 million for "not our greatest" player - take it and use that doh to build where we are weakest.
