James mcfaddens agent meeting with Celtic today at 2 pm to discuss move to cp, posted the other day that we met his agent and fundraiser ant he was not lying this one should go threw.

I really hope not! Can't see the logic in this one, never rated him in his prime and don't see him improving our team as we are. Thought we had seen the back of over the hill signing's picking up there last payday's.

2.) 24 Jun 2013
A think its terrible they are offering him chance after chance he is no better than we have a disgraceful signing

3.) 24 Jun 2013
With a career average of 1 goal every 4.5 games he doesn't cut the mustard in my opinion. We should be looking at players of a much higher standard than him, even if it is only for a bit-part/back up role. Like others here, I think he had his chance in the past and is only looking at our glorious club as a cash cow.
Shame on him, and shame on our board for thinking he is the player for us when just a few quid would actually buy someone much better.

Send this donkey packing - he had his chance over the past few seasons when we were interested. There are much better than him warming our bench. He is crawling back for a quick few ££'s before he is thrown on the scrapheap. This is a shocking signing if he comes. #nothappy!

Adds some maturity he's no worse than McCourt and at times we needed him. McFadden will be no more than a squad pay by play player I'm sure he knows that. If he says fit I say give him a chance. I don't think he is the mercenary people are making out.

I agree to a point that you shouldn't get too many chances to pull on the hoops and pass it up. We all know we would walk to Timbuktu for just one chance, but depending on the terms of the deal, I don't think its that bad an idea. The guy defo did a job against us last season and if they can get him back up to speed, then he is worth a punt. If he breaks down again, the terms of the deal should protect the club. I for one doubt PL is going to give him a high basic wage and if he is prepared to come on an appearance basis, then give him this one last chance. You don't know the background to the snubs, maybe his wife wasn't prepared for it, was his family too young to live in the fishbowl? We don't know the ins and outs, so I for one will leave it up to the guys in the know. Hail Hail COYBIG

Guys this sounds a bit hysterical. Would not have him in his prime. what's that about. The guy cut the mustard as a footballer. Its his injuries that are the issue. The new Man U manager liked him and who am I to argue. Also what so we know about previous attempts to sign him. Who knows how realistic and serious they were. Only he and the club know. So why condemn the guy. Now don't get me wrong the deal has to be right and should take account of playtime and appearances given his past injuries. Other than that why the worry. Its not as if we expect a world beater. Smetimes players are brought in to develop the other players. He is an older heid which is sorely missing in the group. My only realmconcern is he may restrict a developing players chances but let's have some faith here. If he does sign it may just turn out rather well and if he is injured all season then as long as the club have included the correct clauses in the deal then all will be well. he's hardly an old man looking for a big pay day at 29. Sopotcelt.

9.) 24 Jun 2013
I seriously hope not! The guy has had more than enough chances to join the hoops and said no everytime when EPL teams were interested. now no1 wants him, he wants celtic fc. Keep him away from CP, don't want to ever see him in the hoops!

If we are looking for a player like McFadden who can play up top and in an attacking midfield position I'd rather bring back Niall McGinn who had a great season with Aberdeen last year, he is also younger and not as injury prone too.

McFadden is quality, just needed time to recover from a series of hellish injuries. Still what 29? Plenty still left in him!

Seriously, they way some of these people go on you'd think they have no faith in Lennon. He would not sign him if he didn't think it was worthwhile to the team.

At he same time I think a lot of these people expect the board to to destroy all the good work done with keeping the finances in check and live beyond their means, eventually leading to a Rangers scenario. Can't please anyone, never mind everyone!

Ultimately though, we ALL should be behind all players coming in.

12.) 24 Jun 2013
Last season our one failing was a lack of quality in depth. This guy has far more quality and has played and performed to a higher standard than Paddy McCourt who for me did very little in his time at our club. McFadden is the type of player than can add flair, make a defence splitting pass and would be a great weapon to have on the bench. If Neil Lennon wants him and the deal is right then so be it. I will back him to the hilt as I would any other Celtic player.

13.) 24 Jun 2013
I'd take McFadden over McCourt anyday. Paddy offered nothing to the team, he was with us way too long and became a cult figure for what? Unfit, hid in big games, when given the chance, only decent performances v lower league teams, mc fadden on a free will add to the team for spl games, I'm sure his contract will involve risk if he falls injured,

14.) 24 Jun 2013
If its true its the worst move Celtic have made in years. He is only interested as no one south of the border will take him.

15.) 24 Jun 2013
I think if he signs he will make the doubters eat their words as he has that extra bit of quality in the last third to change games or win them on his own.

16.) 24 Jun 2013
Celtic have already denied this move back in april

17.) 24 Jun 2013
Happy for McFadden to come in as a squad player and then try to prove his worth.
More than good enough for SPL, if he stays injury free? I think celtic could be the team that fits him, playing in this league with decent players around him could bring out the best in him.
Not so sure about him knocking us back twice, nobody really knows what goes on behind the scenes, was there 2 offers on the table? And even if there was? If he comes in, puts a decent shift in, earns his wages unlike some, then I don't mind if the deals right?!

I'd be happy to see him in a Celtic shirt. Bar the bad injuries he'd had he's always played at a top level and when we last played Motherwell he was the best player on show.
I don't buy into the crap about him turning us down twice before. Most if not all was papertalk {Ed007's Note - I know it's a 100% fact that Glass-legs turned us down to go to Everton.}

19.) 24 Jun 2013
McFadden looked good in games for Motherwell last season. That aside even if he comes in for a season on a sensible deal it can only be good for the youngsters. They'd be inspired and they can learn from him technically. Our defenders would also improve cause I'd hate to be defending against Faddy every day in bounce games.

20.) 24 Jun 2013
If Helder Barbosa is a free agent, why not just give the contract to him???
