Van Dijk heading to Swansea?

Really? How much? That'll be an underwhelming 4 years for VVD. Does Swansea have a town centre or would he head to Bristol at weekends? What a boring boring boring club. It is a teams result I never ever check. Zzzzzzzzzzz

{Ed007's Note - I can't see VvD leaving for Swansea, I'd go as far as to say that I think he is going to be rather more picky about where he goes than a lot of people think.}

ED. Is he here until January or can/should we expect the unexpected in the immediate term?

{Ed007's Note - It seems that VvD isn't keen on joining on lower level EPL clubs, his agent has said the player's ambitions are not financially motivated.. Take from that what you will.}

Sounds like he could be heading to rangers!

I think with Southampton missing out on Alderweireld, they could come in for VvD. Them and Everton would maybe be the lowest standard of team he would consider but probably the most realistic of who is likely to come in for him. Can't see any of the 'Big 6' bidding for him, although Liverpool could be doing with him!

I actually believe the club that he'll not be leaving until at least after he CL qualifiers. Unless of course an EPL CL side are after him. But for a side challenging for the title in England he's somewhat a risk. Hasn't covered himself in justice in Europe. Now he's a fantastically talented CB. But he's a 'luxury' CB really isn't he. Southampton would be a decent move but hopefully not until January.

He's probably good enough for a Southampton or a Spurs IMO. I'm surprised the only apparent interest has come from the EPL, surely there would be a few Spanish/Italian/German clubs who'd fancy him.

Surprised too kev. Could see him going to Germany. If Schalke sell Matip then that could be a destination. Remember a while ago they were watching him? Think he'd suite Spain or Italy too to be fair. Perhaps we've told clubs where to go until after the qualifiers.

I agree Jim. He likes to take a touch and take the ball forward which is more suited to the slower tempo of Spain and Italy as opposed to the frantic pace of the EPL. More time on the ball to build from the back.

Southampton or Everton and oils be a good move for VVD!

That was my thinking kev italy and particularly spain he'd get that extra two yards on the ball to show what he can do going forward. I'd like him to stay until january, have an impressive CL, and then that may be the beat time to sell him before he is in his final year.

Disgraceful how? Have we just to keep it spare incase Larsson decides to come out of retirement? We should always have the 1-11 jerseys occupied. He's probably asked for it as it was his number at Dundee United. Or maybe he realises what the number means at Celtic and fancies the challenge of replicating some of our legends who have worn it. Good on him

Give the guy a chance. Not my ideal choice of signing but he's a Celtic player now so here's hoping he does well. HH

Not bothered about him getting the shirt just don't play the magnificent seven tune when he scores. That is Henkes and always will be.

Freddy Ljungberg and Miku wore the no7 lol
Cifti will give more than them 2 put together!
Still not ideal but no point having the number available and nobody filling it, if Cifti has asked for it then fair play.

I'm not doubting he thinks he is a player and the numbers 1-11 should be occupied so let's c how long of ban he gets for being stupid with his bite and then c how often the number 7 is on the park

Why would we ever retire it? It's the Celtic No 7. It's a challenge to match those who have also graced it. Jimmy Johnstone wore it, and if it can carry on after him, then it can carry on after Henrik.

So he gets banned for a few games. We knew that. Let's just let the guy get in with it. We will get enough if the press reminding everyone how much if a minster he is now that he has signed for us without us getting in on the act.
These are the same journos that had selective amnesia when overlooking Gazza beating seven shades of shit out of his wife. Ciftci was out if irder and will cop it but I think he will be fine.,

Exactly one player in a generation actually deserves the shirt number! But we never knew that HL would be the player he turned out to be! I will give ciftci every oppertunity to impress but the signing at this point is under whelming! But in RD I trust!

It doesn't matter what the number is on his back,it's only a number. It's the badge on the front that matters. COYBIG.

The number 7 shirt is nothing to do with how good you are, jinky wore it as he played rm as it was 1-11 in every game then, you had a lot of substandard players between then and larsson wear it and a few after. Its the player who fills ot we should concentrate on, not one person knows how good he will be here but he might just surprise a lot of people and become a legend here
