For those people who remember the 80s THE PRICE IS RIGHT COME ON DOWN was a catchphrase from well known show. So now that Charlie Austin has failed to go to hull and Steve Bruce openly admits he needs two strikers the bidding starts at 5 million for Hooper. If you need a striker who doesn't have a knee injury drug problem or a police cell with the name Chaz scratched into the wall come and get him. Great news for celts I suspect a bidding war between Norwich and Hull {Ed007's Note - I think QPR would still like to sign him but being in the Championship isn't ideal for Hooper. I said last week I wouldn't be surprised if Aston Villa came in for him once they had sold Benteke.}

Believable6 Unbelievable4

Who cares if GH and VW are going, I said this before both may live to regret there moves, with celtic they got time to be at there best, but now more money yes but if they do not hit the ground running then what, down south there are to many once great players taking the big money and winning nothing.
When scotland become independent and I will vote yes, there will be tv deals coming in that will be on a par with south of the border, BT virgin talktalk to name a few are all wanting to own there own football league. channel, and the days of selling will be over.

Agree0 Disagree2

@1 I'm worried about your mental health mate. A Scottish Football TV deal on par with south of the border do you honestly believe that? Celtic Motherwell St Mirren etc pulling in the same cash as Arsenal, Man U, City, Chelsea, Spurs you must be joking me. What makes you so sure that the rest of Scotland will vote for independance? It will ruin this country certainly won't open the door for billion pound TV contracts!

Agree3 Disagree0

Nothing in stone, but let's face it, if the rest of scotland vote no, then we all know what comes in 2015 we already been told of the cuts that come our way.

As for football yes we all share the tv deal, and when scottish teams get more money they spend more on players.
Most if not all the teams south of the border are paying paul to feed peter, most are in huge debt, and if the tv deal goes then all fall like rangers/hearts, then what.

Agree0 Disagree0

@ OP: You are a feckin mentalist!
What has Scottish independence got to do with the price of chips, never mind lucrative TV deals?
Don't worry though, the Romans are coming to build a new road that will take you directly to the Crazy Factory.

Agree0 Disagree0

Your comment is total pie in the sky. I'll be voting 'yes' too, but you're deluded if you think that'll lead to serious money coming into the Scottish game. I do however think that the EPL is unsustainable and the bubble will (eventually) burst.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its only my view, that Scottish football will get more TV money, I can see no reason why not, it can only get better, after all we can have 2 teams playing in CL and 3/4 teams playing in Europe every year.
Many would pay top dollar for a set up like that.

Agree0 Disagree1

@7 if that was the case they would just start showing German or Dutch games lol Scottish football will always be small fry through no fault of Celtic, Rangers or whoever else it's just the way it is. Celtic WILL BE the only Scottish Club with a remote chance of playing CL football for at the very least 5-6 years.
As for the Europa i'd be surprised if anyone makes the group stages. There's no money coming into the game face it even Celtic are a selling Club buying & selling is the way of survival in these climates.

Agree0 Disagree0

If he's anything like Hartson i'd have some of that, did he ever pass a medical.mark

Agree0 Disagree0

Now I think scotland would be better off on there own and football tv deals would be much better, just think even at a third of what a team makes in the EPL would do to our teams before they kicked a ball, £10 million NOW ON OUR OWN WE WOULD be better off in all walks of life.
Oh yes scotland would become the place to be I have no dought about that.
The way forward is on our own and we can take top dollar for our products.

Hi ed, what's the score with Norwich and all the foster rumours in the paper? Is it serious or just paper journos bumpn gums?
If they are true we should ask for a million or two more than they will sell ruddy for, see if the are serious, they played hardball with Chelsea , we should do the same.
ps . Anything around the £5million mark and hopper should go now, I will help pack his bags if required. {Ed007's Note - The only team I have heard of sniffing about Forster is Chelsea who are looking for more home-grown players. Forster was not even interested in talking to them about a move as he knew he would only be a sub. Norwich seem to be linked with all our players, I think they are just using our name to appease the fans, West Ham done the same thing with Jelavic, they were putting in bids that they knew were far too low and telling fans they were trying to buy him, even though they had no chance, they simply couldn't afford the fee.}

Believable3 Unbelievable3

Chelsea have signed experienced keeper Swharzer on a 1yr deal, buys a bit of time on the merrygoround that could have came about.
Doesn't iron anything out in the long term though.

Bigbadjohn

Agree1 Disagree0

Don't forget Chelsea own Courtois who they have loaned to Athletico Madrid for the past few years. When Cech's time is done he will step into the number 1 spot. Any keeper Chelsea sign will be resigned to being a back up, or indeed Cech may become a Cuddicini.

MgC

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would Chelsea want Forster ed? seems a bit far fetched to me {Ed007's Note - Chelsea were/are having trouble meeting the home-grown criteria in their 25 man EPL squad. It was decided that one of the easiest ways round it was to sign a home-grown GK. Everybody involved thought it was a terrible idea except for Chelsea.}

Opening game of the season kicking off at 5:15 . WTF is that all about . I know that we're the biggest show in town but we should have told Sly where to stick their schedule . 3 out of the first four games have time changes . DH

Believable7 Unbelievable4

I was thinking that myself when I seen it DH. Total slave to the telly now.

I just wish it was 3pm Saturday football ~ Mrs E

Agree1 Disagree0

Its a complete disgrace. Sideshow league making Celtic look second rate. And treating the fans like 3rd rate citizens. Sopotcelt.

Agree0 Disagree0

Have you watched Celtic pre - season were luck were not on channel 4 Mr Lennon get your Jacket on NOWWWWW

Agree0 Disagree4

To the zombie, yeah we have been shocking, pre-season or not that was a joke, but unfortunately the players efforts are to blame not the the manager!
Mrs E and Sopot, that's what the club sign up to like it or lump it there's no money in our game, so TV will dictate when we ko.
If the club can ge generate the pittance that we get from TV to change back to a 3pm ko I'm all for it but its not going to happen as there's Still too much going on behind the scenes when it comes to a business and not a club :)

Bigbadjohn

Agree0 Disagree0

Och I know John, I usually don't mind but I was a bit surprised to see flag day moved.

I don't know why Neil Lennon would need a jacket in this weather, its boiling and Germany is the same ~ Mrs E

Agree0 Disagree0

The big teams down south play games at that time I don't see what the big fuss is they even have there biggest games on a Monday night sometimes

Agree1 Disagree0

Celtic never produce pre season, as its practice matches. So away back to your own page and read about bora rangers? Whatever and we'll stay here and talk/read about the barcelona's and the likes, Lennon we love you, ., .kbarry

Agree1 Disagree0

It's the way the games going and has been for a while, its all money!
Fortunately for me now Mrs E, I will get to see the game as my youngest son has a footie festival from 9-4 with his local team, but the following 2 weekends my eldest/youngest both have festivals so will miss both weekends, given my lack of time (unfortunatly) my sons come first ha ha, but I can see where people are coming from. Opening day should, everybody in our set up should ko the same time with the champions on show!

Bigbadjohn

Agree0 Disagree0

Ah John so does my oldest Son that weekend, I forgot!

The Glasgow City Cup, they were beat in the Semi final last year.

Suppose it works out not so bad now but it really should be 3pm. ~ Mrs E

Agree0 Disagree0

Am raging work nightshift and start at 8 and don't think I will make it to the game and work and if I go can't take the boy as I definetly won't get back to falkirk to drop him off before work

Agree0 Disagree0

I wonder if this is because the are opening a bar at parkhead for before matches etc so that gives the punters more time to drink i.e give celtic more money.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry Ed, pressed post button by mistake before I was finished my post. Never mind now can't remember where I was at! Lol hey- ho! {Ed007's Note - Eejit lol}

Hi Ed, i'm looking to see if any of the bhoys or ghirls has a spare ticket for the Solitude game. can you do a shout out for me please and pass on my email if they have it? Thanks

Believable2 Unbelievable7

I'm from belfast and a season ticket holder at celtic park . I live about 200 yards from solitude and can't get a ticket . Cliftonville conned the fans on Saturday if they went to a friendly they would get a ticket about 2500 went but there was only 600 tickets on sale and the first 300 got 2 each so what do you think of your chances?

Charlie Austin fails medical at Hull due to a problem with his shoulder.

Celtic imo now have a realistic chance of getting him. Pay the 4.5 million, get him an operation to fix the problem and he will run riot up here for us. {Ed007's Note - I'd be surprised if it was a problem with his shoulder that halted the deal. Austin still has some behavioural problems off the park that need to be dealt with.}

Believable3 Unbelievable14

Yehh I believe there has allegedly been some substance abuse, and he has a problem with recreational drugs, though it is only a rumour and as far as I know not been substantiated.
again with the right club and the right support he will get through this, but its a big risk for any club to take however this reduces his valuation and at the moment Burnley will be lucky to get 1 mill for him with lots of conditions added to the contract {Ed007's Note - I think the court trial last month more than substantiated the 'rumour' that has been well known in football circles for years.
It is because of his problems and the people he is hanging around with that his partner wants to move out of the area, exactly the same scenario that happened at Swindon, forcing the club to sell him.}

Agree0 Disagree1

A hull reject? No thanks.

Agree2 Disagree0

Steve Bruce confirmed it was a problem in his knee

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope we don't pay 4.5 million for him with his injury problems and behaviour probs I would offer 2.5 million if we are interested

Agree0 Disagree0

Based on his weakness for the stuff I suspect it would be highly inappropriate for his partner to consider Glasgow as a suitable location for his rehab! lol

ChrisBhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Hull reject? Do you remember John Hartson failing his medical with the dark side? If Hooper was to leave Austin would be an ideal replacement. I hadn't heard anything before regarding behavioral problems, but if it's true I'm sure a move to a club our size could help him realise his potential and iron out any side issues he has. On a last note I do agree with Marco1888, 2.5 to 3 million would be a more realistic fee.

Agree0 Disagree0

OP here, I wasn't aware he was having all those problem Ed. The shoulder injury must be the party line just now to cover it up, although it seems its common knowledge now. I would urge Celtic to stay well clear given that information, even if the court case goes his way and he decides he's going to turn into a born again christian its unforgivable for a player given the ability he has and the job and pay which comes with it to behave that way and take such a chance with his career. He just sounds like a complete t*t {Ed007's Note - I was like you mate and all for him signing for us. I happened to mention it to one of the English Eds and he told me all about him and his problems. Getting into fights in nightclubs is a recipe for disaster if he moved to Glasgow.}

Agree0 Disagree0

A Glasgow Kiss would explain in perfect detail that his "previous" would be unacceptable!
Having said that, troubled players don't just change overnight and that is what he would HAVE to do if he were to stand a chance of making it at Celtic. He could be more trouble than he's worth. Apparently his off-field shagging of team mates wives is another one of his weaknesses too.

Hail Hail
ChrisBhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Would still have Adam Le Fondre over Austin any day of the week! Superb finisher and rumoured to be available for around £3million

LM67

Agree0 Disagree0

Thank god the shagging is not on the field. If it was the floodlights would have to be improved for evening viewing. Sopotcelt.
