Evening all

Glad we got a new sponser with no old firm games then money made from this would clearly be alot less overall it's a 'better' offer even though its the same company

As for lawwell vs green.just listened to the video of the today merge with our new sponser and several times the media tried to cast the rods out and get just a sentence out of lawwell so it could be used a rocket fuel for green and all over tomorrow's papers.he just said over and over again I don't wish to talk about any other club.he is a money grabber but IMO lawwell is good for Celtic (last 4 years debt good example) and approached the questions with good answers....maybe green can learn a thing or too

Lenny

Believable18 Unbelievable2

Money Grabber? Ehh? The last I heard and certainly don't know for 100% sure is that PL was so committed to Celtic that he knocked back a similar role at Arsenal and didn't take his bonus during his years at the club when they did not win the league?

Agree0 Disagree0

Genrally speaking, despite a lot of external issues going against us, the club is moving in the right direction. As for Lawwell, credit to the man for the contribution he is making from the business side of things. Financially it has been a bit one step back and two forward, but he really does try to brand the club well and wants the club to be seen in the best light - and that means, as well as curing our own club's cancers (sectarianism, public disorder, anti-sfa/uefa campaigns etc. etc.), distancing Celtic from Rangers and the 'old firm tag'. We all know the history, but in the words of Mr. Lawwell: We are not defined by any other club. We have our own brand, our own values and our own traditions. Nicely said Pete.

Agree1 Disagree0

Just seen charlie green getting out of a car, on tv, can't he afford an iron?craig white and the same suit spring to mind......semi literate.

Agree0 Disagree0

It is time for everyone to stop comparing Celtic to Rangers. We are competing at the highest level in European football with a successful young manager and a CEO who is managing the financial affairs of the club with prudence, diligence and respect for others. Rangers are an irrelevance to us and our success. They have the management structure they deserve, a manager who is incompetent and clueless, a CEO who cannot be taken seriously and is a constant embarrassment to their club and to Scottish football, and a spokesman who ranks among the worst journalists ever to grace the Scottish media. No other bottom tier club is mentioned regularly on this site and Rangers should be treated no differently from them.
Liah Smit

Agree2 Disagree0

Lawwell vs green. Eh? No contest. PL is what the boss should be like, not some clown playing to the crowd.

Agree1 Disagree0

Well said. liah.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said guys, PL is a class act. Chuckles is a joke, like his newly formed club. Was his message a wee suggestion he is about to do a bunk ? Also, his rant about what league can you win and not get promoted ? Try the Highland League you moron, comedy value right enough

Agree0 Disagree0

You all clearly misssed PL's Mr Stein like put down at the end of one of his interviews; when asked about Rangers comments on reconstruction he replied "...I don't want to comment on little things like that..." class.

Agree0 Disagree0

At 1 - mean money grabber ie not him but would cash in a player like wanyama but might not replace him

Also sure it was lawwell who set up the Celtic/man city youth swap was it not

Lenny

Agree0 Disagree0

"..curing our own club's cancers (sectarianism, public disorder, anti-sfa/uefa campaigns etc. etc.)"

don't foget 'shouting' and 'standing'... or is that covered by "public disorder"? pea

Agree0 Disagree0

Alls well with Peter Lawwell as far as I am concerned long may he stay!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Time while tell if everything with lawwell is hunky dory this window and in the summer when fans find out where all the money goes too many fans doing summersaults about the money the club is making but would they feel the same if its put in the share holders pockets and nothing back to the team so far the fans have yet to see one penny

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2013 20:01:13
From what i have heard Lennon is Looking to add 2 more players to his Squad this Window but Celtic won't be doing any bussiness until They return from Spain . Heard Rumors also Paddy McCourt and Miku didn't travel with the squad to Spain surely this must mean the end for these 2 Bhoys. Also heard a rummor doing the rounds is Henrik Larsson's Son Jordan is being lined up by Celtic with Johan Heavily involved on the deal

Believable5 Unbelievable12

Interesting you say about Larsson Jr.
Heard that Celtic were interested in taking him on trial with the possibility of offering him a long term deal then loaning him back to his current club.

~seamus~

Agree0 Disagree0

Be glad to see the back of paddy, he's been useless, far better youngsters deserve a chance before him

Ska bhoy

Agree1 Disagree1

Same with Miku. I'd rather see Watt get a game any time.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mccourt in todays papers arriving in spain?? get it right guys

Agree0 Disagree0

Wish we had punted Paddy before young McGinn. McCourt was never fit nor consistent enough for us. As for Miku I wondered why we signed him at the time, though I accept Neil etc know more than I do.

Agree0 Disagree1

Has Paddy had a proper run in the team this season? Naw!! How can a Celtic fan be glad to see the back of him? He's going nowhere. I'd have him in the team every week playing in a free role behind the strikers.

Anton

Agree1 Disagree0

Agree with Anton...

I'm convinced Paddy has been wasted out on the wing (on the few occasions he's brought on with 10 mins to go).

I also thought the same of Naka. Neither of them had the pace to be effective wingers, but both have/had the vision to be brilliant "No. 10's".

Luba was also similar to both players and was often immense behind the forwards.

It'll be a shame to see him go, but his confidence looks shot these days.

Hail hail...

Agree1 Disagree0

Manchester City Utd and Chelsea have shown interest in Larsson Jr, but King Henrik will probably edge him towards Paradise In my opinion. DaleBhoy1888

last week on twitter larsson jnr said the only reason he was here was for his dads dinner. he had no inclination he was gonna be having a trial with celtic.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with anton
i wonder just how many minutes paddy has played in total
its ridiculous
i remember he got a run in the side and that wee useless, a player who was, turd shaun maloney ran into him and crushed poor paddys neck
wtf
maybe its just not supposed to be for him but i love him and he's been more of a joy to watch than some of the starters displays
not that im having a go at those players, they have done just fine, i believe paddy would have added to that.
p.s. would jizz in both ma socks if larsson jnr signed for the hoops

just seen that when drogbas agent was questioned about his move to juve he said "It is true that there has been contact with Juventus. Nothing's concrete at this point, though, " Seydi was quoted as saying by Tuttosport.

"Juventus, AC Milan, Celtic are all interesting teams, but Didier is still a Shanghai Shenhua player. He's a great player and he is only thinking about the AFCON at the moment." any idea why mention celtic would find it hard to believe that he would come to be honest .... ryanlarsson

Believable6 Unbelievable13

I think we were linked to him just after we qualified...not sure but I'm certain I seen something about him and celtic...I know we were linked with him before he moved away from france and went to chelsea, before he was worth a bob or two. Would be too expensive on wages alone, doubt his parent club would cover 99% of his wages as they would need to for us to ba able to afford him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Think that the reporter has it mixed up that Juventus are playing Celtic. Juve interested, not Celtic. I think Russia or the MLS is most likely for Drogba.

~seamus~

Agree0 Disagree0

What a signing he would be though, just what we need imo

Agree0 Disagree0

Drogba wanted to come years ago and pestered Momo Sylla to help him get a move. Sylla told him he was wasting his time as we had Larsson, Sutton and Hartson at the time. Well played Momo !

Agree0 Disagree0

Fantastic player but what effect on the dressing room. Get impression he would be trouble, don't want to disrupt the feel good factor.

AldoBhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

If Celtic got the chance to sign a player like him they should snap it up.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nearly as funny as Charlie Chuckles, NOT A SNOWBALLS CHANCE IN HELL! waste of time mentioning it.......semi literate..

Agree0 Disagree0

Even though the snider sevco fan is irritating. His point is valid, there is more chance of a trout with a broken back pulling a tram car up ben nevis than Drogba coming to Celtic. We move on.

Agree0 Disagree0

Snider sevco fan? WRONG! a tim 1st last and forever, BUT SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO TELL IT AS IT IS!....semi literate.....

Agree0 Disagree0

Nowt to do with us but why doesn't Drogba just go back to Marseille? They're losing their striker & he's a huge fan, perfect non?

Agree0 Disagree0

Gotta said just read this quote from the agent on another site - it looks like a genuine quote. I think Drogba needs to feel loved - wants a bit of hero worship.
EPL to Scotland would not happen with a player of this class. But he's playing in China - so China to Scotland is not a massive? Money is an issue but I'm sure if he wants to come..... but that is a huge if - massive

Agree0 Disagree0

I remember back in 66/67 Season, Celtic tried to sign Di Stefano when he was 35 and he turned them down.
History repeating itself ? Miracles sometimes do happen !!

Well done to PL and the Celtic board for breaking our link to the defunct football club. Also it is fantastic to see our Chief Executive behave with dignity when asked about the outburst from Scottish football's newest club. PL made sure that the press conference was upbeat about Celtic and did not get dragged into the gutter with the wee club from the SFL's lowest tier. A wonderful move for Celtic, bringing in even more money again to make sure the club stays on a positive footing and continues to show Scottish football in a good light. A very warm welcome to Magners, always good to have another member of the Celtic family. Ally Mac

Believable12 Unbelievable7

I'll be trying the magners now.
This is surely going hit the other new club's ability to attract good advertising revenue not being linked to Celtic/ old firm and languishing in the bottom tier for another year.

I'm a mad Celtic fan living in Australia - I watch Rogic play week in and week out, the kid is a massive talent.

Not to mention he has a canon shot on him too. Would be a great fit in the centre for us - especially with his skill and speed. He scores regular goals, and is a machine at setting up play from both stoppages and during the flow of a game.

He is 20 and he will only get better - already settling to international leave like a seasoned pro - He could be picked up for around 250,000 AUS $ and believe me the resale value on the kid in 2-3-4 years will be huge, and make the 250k paid for him seem irrelevant. He already has 1 EPL side that are wanting to sign, so goes to show.

Agree2 Disagree0

Looks very promising. Aye youtube only really show the highlights, but more importantly you do get to see what the young kid is capable of and he seems to have a lot. Pace and height, strength and good feet, composure and the ability to lose a man and arrive late too. I hate myself for comparing players of similar positions and same nationalities to eachother, but i agree, he really does look like a Tim Cahill mould. And the tim from Oz who watches him rates the guy so hey, for the sake of £250k, let Lenny nurture him!!

Agree0 Disagree0

He'd be a steal at that price and not a huge gamble. Here's hoping Oz Bhoy! ;)

Nothing to loose SIGN HIM....semi literate....

You can almost guarantee there will be more than a new shirt sponsor/renewed sponsor agreement announced today.

Also I wouldn't be surprised if this has also been scheduled for this afternoon due to Traynor's outburst last night, perfect opportunity to deflect attention away from that person and his new employers.
Any better way to gather all of the media available to the one place at the same time than a "surprise major announcement"? You can be sure there will be plenty of journalists dying to get a response from Celtic in regards to Jabba today.

Superbly orchastrated Mr Lawwell, I tip my hat.

Big announcement from Mr Lawwell at three today.What has pistol Pete been keeping back for a rainy day? Is it a coincidence that this comes hard on the heels of Traynors inane rambling and veiled threats? I think we have all found out that Mr Lawwell does not get caught out, could be an interesting day. ED: you heard any info? All i heard is Magners for the shirts...............green jhedi {Ed007's Note - It has been kind of hastily organised GJ so if it is only a new sponsorship deal it seems a bit strange. Hopefully the club are going to bite back at Green and his pet Hutt, not before time.}

Believable10 Unbelievable1

Do you think Celtic have struck with this sponsorship (assuming it is that) while their iron is hot, final 16 of the CL etc and thats why the announcement is now ?

I don't know if I would bite back, their ramblings are pathetic and desperate ~ Mrs E {Ed007's Note - CFC as a club can't just sit and let Green and his minions constantly drag it's good name down to their own gutter level in every statement they make, they need put in their place.}

Agree2 Disagree0

Have to agree with Mrs E. We shouldn't lower ourselves and dignify their desperate warblings with a response.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Jan 2013 19:33:21
Mrs E/ED007 as I said in another post, Green is desperate to keep being associated with Celtic, it makes his new club look better, by ignoring him Peter is doing exactly the right thing. let them look on enviously as we get richer and they get poorer. Timalloy

Agree0 Disagree0

Tim, I don't think Chuckles has broke cover since that rid neck of a rant on Christmas Eve then today of all days he comes out with that !

I don't know, was he banking on his £5.5m buy being fast tracked into the SPL. He looked like he was defo panicing for whatever reason ~ Mrs E

Mrs E is right let the relevant authoritie's deal with ar$ehole and ar$eholer they don't matter on how Celtic are run.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Magners, Guinness or possibly even Emirates as they are sponsoring the Velodrome next to Celtic park, although I can't see it being them

MikeyBhoy88

Agree0 Disagree0

I would be surprised if it is Magners, they are part of the same group as Tennants so it would be 6 of one half a dozen of the other.

Celtic target Maor Melikson (Aged 28) has been told he can leave his club at the right price, he's a midfielder and is also in the Israel international squad. His current team is Wisła Kraków where he is highly rated

Not sure about the price, think it was roughly 2 mil being rumored, really couldn't say at this time

Oh and also his agent said the player is really interested in a move to the UK and this was said roughly a few days ago.

Believable6 Unbelievable1

And his agent just happens to be the same as Kayal, Ambrose and Gershon.

I'd guess MSM have just looked at who Dudu Dahan represents and joined the dots.
Can't see this one happening for a player of this age and at this price.
Not the model that we have used since NFL took charge.

Ed what's the latest on this helder barbossa 800k is the figure getting branded around ?

Kieran {Ed007's Note - Sporting Gijon are looking to sign Barbosa on a pre-contract, why aren't CFC? It all seems a bit strange to me considering the player's contract status.}

Believable3 Unbelievable3

Ed the same reason they take ages to sign anyone....trying to get the cheapest option either that or lenny wants him on trial as usual and the guy has said 'no chance'. I said it weeks ago I wouldn't be surprised if half the people we were linked to didn't even fly to glasgow, its the usual with celtic...that's why if I see us linked with anyone I don't believe it, seen so many linked in the past and as of yet none of them have ever walked thru the doors at CP.

Of all the players Celtic have been linked with, Barbosa is the lad they should be pulling out all the stops to sign.
