What's this chat about gerrard? Is there any truth in it? I would 100% take him.

I'd have him ahead of Bitton or McGregor any day of the week.

His best days are well behind him. Why do we want another 35 year old no matter how good he was several years ago. Remember when we signed Freddie Ljunberg? Like Gerrard, in his day he was a great player. By the time we got him he was done. This won't be any different. I think it's too big a risk for us. We don't need him to win the league and in a European arena where we do need some class he is not up to it any more. Just my thoughts!

I wouldn't call Gerrard overrated. He was some player in his day, but, his day has passed. He has one slipper in retirement and would be a complete waste of money.

What is the point anyway? Why do we need a player who will give us 10 games maximum before he hangs up his boots for good. We are all but done for in Europe bar a miracle. We are so far ahead of anyone else domestically it is embarrassing so what would he bring to the table? It is obviously the media taking a flyer because of the Rodgers link. Roy Keane written all over it.

Gerrard in his prime was one of the best midfielders in the world, but his prime is long gone I'm afraid! He's not even close to what we need right now and I'd be stunned if BR was interested in bringing him in! We need somebody in the middle of the park to help brown but Gerrards not the answer!

I'm sure if he does come to Celtic they could be looking to add him to the coaching staff when he does hang his boots up.

I just hope if this happens it doesn't stop us replacing bitton with a better centre mid.

Would be a good signing a big one fans could appreciate a couple of years to late though.

He is very much past it, if he was playing well in the USA, there would be no question of him leaving there.
Bringing him back and giving him some sort of coaching role, is admission that the club thinks he doesn't merit a player's contract .
Giving him, some sort of a coaching role would be a big gamble as he, has no experience coaching, and may or maynot fit in with existing coaches in what ever group he is coaching and this friction could cause disharmony and upset coaches and their players . If we need a coach for some particular group far better to recruit one by going through normal recruiting procedures than impose someone into group.
