Just seen Rod Stewart on STV... he did the Teenage Cancer and Celtic Charity proud !

Hope you all buy it when its released tomorrow Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas

Mrs E

Believable13 Unbelievable11

Single is on sale in the club shops also.

Jungle Bhoy.

I got a copy today in the Superstore :-) Mrs E {Ed007's Note - *rolls eyes*

Agree1 Disagree0

Time Rod retired if you asked me. His voice ain't what it was anymore and this Christmas album reaks of desperation. If i was a Celtic fan i'd be embarrased by his continued association with the club, much as i'm sure Rangers fans are by Andy Cameron. At least Andy Cameron doesn't have a new album out though. {Ed007's Note - Is Andy Cameron still alive? I'm no Rod Stewart fan but you can't compare them, one is a singer and one of them isn't (wasn't).}

Agree0 Disagree0

Oooft your post reeks of jealousy. Ian Brown (Stone Roses) has also promoted Rod Stewart's single for the TCT and Celtic Charity. Rod Stewart & Ian Brown can both still sell-out arena's. Andy Cameron lol..nae wonder no name was left ~ Mrs E

Agree1 Disagree0

Ed, i was just comparing Cameron and Stewart in terms of embarrasing fans - do any fans under 18 know or care who Rod Stewart is? It's just he seems to have appointed himself as musical spokesman for the whole support. He had a Celtic badge on the drum kit on TV and every gig he shows footage of the hoops. All fine and well, except a) his new album is whack b) his voice is knackered c) he has no connection with Glasgow/Scotland/Celtic - Andy Cameron sometimes comes on and sings at Rangers games during half time and by all accounts, the fans think he sucks - that is the similarity i was trying to prove, but obviously that was missed in my original post. Surely there must be some other fans that think Rod is getting a bit embarrasing in old age? I am not trying to conduct another ' who's got the most famous fans ' post on here. PS Ian Brown doesn't even know what Scottish football is and has no connection with Celtic whatsoever. {Ed007's Note - A) To know his album is that 'whack' you must have listened to it, that makes you more of a fan than me, I never even watched the TV show. B) Again, you will know better than me, you obviously listen to a lot more of him than I do and C) Grow up, you are coming across as a bigoted knob, it's good to see that he is still getting under The Rangers fan's skin though, so he can't be that bad. I take it from that, that all The Rangers fans are 100% Scottish? It's a pity their song-book says otherwise.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't know if his Christmas album is any good or not, I don't have it & only see the beginning of the STV show at the weekend. I posted this as its relevant to Celtic and their charity and fail to see where you have a problem with this.

Supporting Celtic is Rod Stewart's choice and is the way he supports the Scottish National Team. I fail to see why you have a problem with this too ? Susan Boyle sang YNWA before the Helsingborg game, is that okay as she is Scottish.

Your post is a tad spiteful ~ Mrs E

Agree1 Disagree0

Who is this eejit ed? It's a football forum and he is on here talking about Rod Stewart ffs. Is there no depth sevco fans won't stoop to have something to moan about. Andy Cameron is about as funny and popular as VD! {Ed007's Note - Obviously not. Just another anonymous, bigoted little troll. His knowledge of Rod Stewart's singing abilities just shows you how twisted people can be, who listens to music they don't like, really? I can just see him sitting listening to his albums and shaking his 6 fingered fist at his iPod, screaming at him to sing Rule Britannia (a possible duet with Andy Cameron?), after all he is English.}

Agree0 Disagree0

ANDY F***ING CAMERON!!! AWAY AND TAKE YOUR MOUTH FOR A SH1TE MATE. IF YOU DON'T LIKE ROD THEN DON'T LISTEN TO HIM. IT'S NOT THAT HARD TO UNDERSTAND YA COMPLETE MELT.YOU SHOULD BE MORE EMBARRASSED THAT YOU ARE A SEVCO SUPPORTER THAN CAMERON IS.

A wee story from an English tabloid:-

At last a winter's tale to warm the cockles of our hearts

(Unless Hearts, or even worse, Rangers, is who you support, in which case the tale feels like a kick in the cockles).

Neil Lennon and Celtic's progression to the Champions League knockout stages at a time when Scottish football is deemed to be in worse shape than Rab C. Nesbitt's liver, is a timely reminder that success need not be defined by the scale of your owner's personal navy.

Finishing runners-up to Barcelona, and gaining more points than any Scottish team ever has in the Champions League group stages, is a resounding triumph of player spirit over ego and supporter passion over presumption. Here is a real team representing a real club with a history and standing that has nothing at all to do with a stranger's billions. Here is a manager who's not a sugar daddy's latest flavour-of-the-month, but an unglamorous man who's battled death threats, and used exceptional motivation skills to get the best out of a group of players that cost a pittance

In a humiliating year for British football, when national sides have flopped, clubs have gone to the wall, racism has re-surfaced and overpaid, under-performing individuals have been shamed by Olympian heroes, here is the case for the defence. And it's a refreshingly honest case.

When asked what this triumph means, Lennon didn't spout cliches about Celtic now being re-assessed as a proper European force and thus able to attract the world's best talents. Because he knows that's garbage. He simply said the progress will be a great experience for the players and fans and that the extra millions generated will safeguard the jobs of many back-room staff at a time when Scottish football is taking a serious financial hit.

Celtic's success is a massive psychological boost to a country which has often defined itself through its footballing heritage, yet has been diminished by the Rangers scandal and is effectively out of the 2014 World Cup before the group stages get interesting.

Lennon's tale is a timely reminder in a year when football has been scarred with racism that bigotry will never triumph. But those who stand up to it can.

For it's doubtful anyone in British football has ever had more hatred forced down his throat than Lennon. As both a player and a manager the Catholic from Lurgan has been sent bullets, letter bombs and serious death threats.

He's been physically attacked, subjected to the vilest chants, seen his name written on a wall next to a hangman's noose, had his family abused, his home put on 24-hour police watch and told before one game that if he captained Northern Ireland he'd be murdered.

Yet he never walked away from the game. He never let them win.

The dubious morality of modern football may make you despair to the point where you question why you invest any emotion in it at all.

And then you come across a story which leaves a glow among the non-sectarian affected neutrals, and thousands, possibly millions, of Celtic fans. And you realise that for all it's faults, football can still inspire with an intensity no other sport gets close to.

See they are not all bad ~ Mrs E

What makes it better is. every word is true.

Agree3 Disagree0

Thanks for sharing that Mrs E, we tend to forget how much Neil has had to endure from the bigoted idiots who have attacked him in the past. Apart from his unfortunate bust up with the pie eater (and as far as I'm concerned Fatcoist was totally to blame), Neil has shown dignity and leadership since taking the reigns at Celtic. Who knows what will happen in the future, but Neil must be given a lifelong role at the club in some way or form.

matthews on wing instead of forrest?,,,,deep river bhoy

Believable10 Unbelievable7

NONONONONO........SILLY SILLY SILLY,jimthetim

Agree1 Disagree0

Why is that silly , loads of players change position during their career , adam is a great crosser of the ball , he's fast , takes a great throw in , it would allow lustig and izzy to play , remember chris sutton. he played center half , center midfield and striker for us and was good at all three.. shammy

Agree0 Disagree0

Matthews is more than capable of playing right midfield. Gareth bale started as a left back, progressed to left mid under redknapp and is now playing left side of a front 3. noel

Agree0 Disagree0

Why dont we sell forrest then?if adam is better on the wing?dont think bale is a good comparison, HE IS WORLD CLASS at full back, wide mid, or winger. bye the bye not a big fan of forrest or matthews.Lustig looking better than matthews,think mcgeough has more potential than forrest,think paul george could be better than the lot.....jimthetim. merry xmas..... {Ed007's Note - Do you really think Bale is world class Jim? He is awful at full back, that is why he was moved forward, he is a one trick pony, he has no football brain IMO, all he has is pace. He is more like an athlete than a footballer.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on ed . usain bolt could do what bale does , just better, because he's faster . i don't know why you don't like mattews jim , the man is a really good player , i will however agree that mcgeoch'' could'' be better than forrest. as for paul george i have no opinion i dont know much about the boy .. shammy {Ed007's Note - To compare him to Giggs in his prime is verging on blasphemy!}

Agree0 Disagree0

Really couldnt compare many to ryan in his prime , his sister in law says he was brilliant , , lol.. yeah fantastic player as was his buddy paul .. shammy

Agree0 Disagree0

I wasnt comparing matthews ability to bales, only the progression of his position from full back. He is more than capable of playing right mid for celtic and gives us another option. noel

Agree0 Disagree0

OK bhoys you dont agree, think u underestimate bale yes a fab athlete, but still got a bit more ed than you think.1 great cross against the might of killie and matthews is a class wide mid come on,get a grip, you do we james a diservice, but hey, heres an idea! forrest right back, matthews right mid,it might work.Or as i said before sell the wee man im sure you will get more euros for him than matthews.I also believe you will get more goals from forrest...just my opinion ed....jim the tim

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry ed and drb,but i do like matthews and do understand players can excell in diff positions, just get peed of with kids from our streets, getting more critisism than others, surely wee james has as much if not more potential than adam?jimthetim....

Agree0 Disagree0

Jim the tim its good to see you sticking up for your son..but young forrest was starting regular in the team while playing average at best , i think his best performances have been as a sub coming on late to take on tiring defences , i know we all have our favorites but i think the majority of fans would agree matthews is turning into a real star , i also wasnt criticising forrest in the op just asking peoples opinion about who would play the rm/wing position best,, anyway when you tuck young james in tonight tell him i didnt mean to hurt his feelings,,,deep river bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Just watched matthews hang one up at the back post for sammy to header home. Beautiful goal, beautiful... noel

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm glad both Adam Matthews and JAmes Forrest are in the Celtic team and both have excellent potential.

I felt last season we relied too much on James Forrest particulary in the first half of the season. He's an out & out old-fashioned winger and I like that. It brings you something different to the game and a lot of the time defenders can't handle the way he runs at them.

Ed/Shammy...good job at lot of EPL managers etc don't agree with you about Bale. Bolt couldn't score the goals he does. The one against Scotland wasn't too shabby. Define world class anyway ~ Mrs E

What a game by Mathews today, can't wait to see him develope more in the coming years. Feel bad he didn't get a goal today cause he sure did deserve to get his first one for the club

Believable12 Unbelievable8

No need for him to score, it's not his job, but he did have one of the best games I have seen from him, IMO.

Totally agree he was superb, along with Broonie.

Scott Brown has been immense today. In terms of sheer graft and utter determination the man is a force of nature! Just hope that by delaying the operation he needs, we don't lose him for the start of NEXT season.............kbt1978

according to the sin today big sammy is off to liverpool in january for £5m , and he wants to go.. shammy

Believable3 Unbelievable23

It's not my opinion guys , just telling you what it says in the paper today. i also hope it's unbelievable , but the fact it's in the paper cant be unbelievable

Agree0 Disagree1

Bite their hand off, yeah sammy is a big player in champs league...but how long has it took him to get to this stage, the fans wanted him to go a few windows back...he said no, now a big team are after him and he wants to go...just as the faithful believe in him, let him go!

Agree0 Disagree3

08 Dec 2012 16:23:58
Bismillah! No! We will not let you go..

Agree2 Disagree0

Well done, the queen poster! I always said he should team up with puyol so they could re-form

Agree0 Disagree0

Probably a lot of pi$h,as usual from that rag, read his interviews after the Spartak game, does'nt sound like someone who wants to leave, anyway why sell our best player for a mere 5million?

Agree2 Disagree0

Best player?...yesterday I was reading on here big vic was our best player...how can that be if sammy is our best player? Sammy is only good when he feels like playing, big vic is a rock and already in a dif class to big sammy. Don't get me wrong sammy on his day is unplayable, but to say he's our best player is rubbish...been here more than a few years and we have only seen the best of him under lenny and at that he's still no consistant enough to be considered our best players...one of our better players yes! But not best player.

Agree0 Disagree1

The big man has had plenty of chances to leave. He will be here until we say otherwise. He is not money orientated and he loves the club..

Agree0 Disagree0

Yep i believe big sammy could have walked but stays because he likes it here. He can be infuriating and wonderful at the same time...Why go to Liverpool...it's all here

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Dec 2012 20:16:36
sammy was low, just watching the show, over and over again, spread your wings big man,,,algarvebhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm going from the vibe I get before and after a game and ther is nothing too say any one wants too go the only vibe I get is they want too play for Lenny and do ther best for him and the club and fans ,ther is a harmony at paradise that I ain't seen since before the eufa cup final this is paper talk and personally no tim should even give the I meen the sun a glimps ,but when a team makes good headlines like are bhoys ther going too get interest from others that just proves Lenny is doing something that's getting noticed ,he is the best thing that has happened to Celtic and if any one is going too be a target with big money it's him ,but we have no worries cous he is one of us too the bone ,So get ready for the close season when the sack comes for these epl mangers lenny will be the first name every time

Agree0 Disagree0

Imo no chance never doubted him wen the boo bhoy wer on and never will ok not the best player but he works his ass off in europe but thats not good enough he needs to be consistent so thats why clubs are lookin at him eh wait maybe the whole team coz were thro to the last 16 in whiich no-1 gave us a hope and the young bhoys came thro it so well done and i hope we keep the team for years to come with no injuries keep playing the same team team in europe and like now we will be the big suprise HH ,stef1967

Agree0 Disagree0

Liverpool are inked with any strikers these days it a load of bull

Agree0 Disagree0

Cant believe some of you are still dissing Sammy! The guy loves it here, tries his best for the cause and not just for himself....he doesnt care if he scores or not, as long as we win. Hes one of the most down to earth, genuine guys in football and most of all one of the most popular(according to team mates) members of squad. Lenny even makes him captain before Chico & super Joe these days when Broonies not on. Give the guy his due....he might not quite be a legend yet more of the same and he will be sooner than later.

Now we don't have to worry about the inconvenience of European football for a while, I think it may be time to put a bit of a gap between us and the rest of the SPL challengers. We should send out a strong team against Killie and show our intentions. Hopefully by then we should have a big points advantage by the time we need to play a top European team in the CL and earn some more money to put in the pot to keep us financially sound for years to come.
Sorry, I was distracted again by the thought of top level football in the New Year, earning big coin and another sell out at paradise. Not forgetting that we have a League cup semi, we're top of the league, we're still in the SC, and the Ibrokes jokers are keeping us VERY amused, It's such a good time to be a "Timmy"!

BigRab

Believable9 Unbelievable6

Aye but Rab...Charlie green will make more money than us ! Did you not know about the shares ? I for one I'm pricking my self for when this happens! The rangers international FC will be worth more than us barca Real Madrid Donald trump apple bill gates sheik of Abu Dubai all put together !

I think Chico likes a drink when we wrote the share issue prospectus Charles...carslberg don't do stock exchange

Lenny

Agree0 Disagree1

As I said Lenny, very amusing! Glinty is nothing more than a charlatan offering false hope & promise to a mob of deaf, blind ignoramuses! Looking at the share issue, if you bought a car for £500 and tried to sell it a few months later for £5000 you would have to have massively modified the car or the car was nicked in the first place. As far as I can see, same Ibrokes with no modifications! It will all come out in the wash in the coming months, but by that time Glinty will have retired on the bears hard earned Giro's!
