Someone was telling me the same thing earlier John. Supposedly that's the best price anywhere for him. He wouldn't be my first choice but he has got qualities. People say player recruitment is probably the biggest part of a managers job these days, especially with the power they have, well I think that's his biggest strength. I remember reading a piece about him talking about signing players and he was basically saying the amount of depth they go into because at Everton he felt he couldn't even get 1 signing wrong. He had so little to spend, relatively speaking, so fair play because it's easier said than done! I can't think of another manager to get so many signings right. Howard, Coleman, Jagielka, Stones, Baines, Pienaar, Naismith, Miralles, Arteta, Cahill, and Saha cost around £20 million, not a bad 11. I think our squad would be in a much better condition in a couple of years if he did get the job.

Delphic, great post, very correct figures, he spent within his budget and produced quality, We have the biggest budget, so if is in, and spends as well as he did at Everton, then job well done.

No matter what the stats say, when moyes is under pressure he cracks. Look at both his jobs since he left Everton. Do I think he could handle the constant media bombardment and then their praise of the Rangers and their saviour the bread man no I don't but that's just my opinion. I think Ronny is way behind some at the club in terms of being sacked.

Lets go with records what's ronny won trophies at celtic and in norway now mr incredible moyes what exactly has he won? Also we all know player recruitment is little to do with manager at cp so what could moyes really bring because the recruient out his hands.

It's not like for like. Ronny had no experience of signing players, didn't know the market at all. The policy at the club was youth, the players they did sign was done by Tore Andre Flo's Brother who was the director of football. I'm sure Ronny had a say though. The model we have is followed by most clubs in Europe, the obvious secret is having the correct people in charge! My point was Moyes knows the market, has many contacts, well the proof is in the pudding, his record is brilliant. I'm sure Lawwell would be doing cartwheels if he could do that with us. I'm not Moyes biggest fan, but to be fair following Fergie at Utd was an impossible task, especially with the squad he left behind. Going to Spain was a strange one because it's the best league in the world and Sociedad are a mid table team. At least he took the chance though, it wasn't the easy option or the most lucrative.

By the way I'm only talking about the pros and cons of Moyes because John spoke about it, and because of him being 1/ 3. You've at least got to be fair about him.

Delphic I disagree about him having contacts as you will remember when he took over at Man U no one wanted to sign for him/ them, every player linked with Man U distanced himself from them. The best thing his contacts would bring would be some loan signings. As for Ronny the set up he likes to play requires fast paced direct wingers so he either has a say and can't identify a good winger from a attacking midfielder or he doesn't have a say and keeps getting hit with bang average attacking midfielders which is hardly his fault. I seriously can't see the type of manager most on here want because why would they agree to that when it's not like they are getting world class players dropped on them but rather Carlton Coles and ckrs and ciftis etc etc.

Well that's another example of it not being like for like! In fact it couldn't be any more different! At Utd they simply have to sign world class players. So when you're saying no-one wanted to sign for him who do you mean? Resigning Ronaldo? When I say contacts I mean getting good players at a price we could afford! He knows all the lower leagues in England - getting Stones for £2.2 million etc. He signed Coleman from the Irish league for 50k after he had been on trial with us and we wanted more time to think about it, he seems to be able to spot a player. He got Arteta and Naismith from up here for less than £5 million, again great business. Well his brother (Kenny Moyes) is an agent, and his old man is still a scout at Everton I'm sure, so surely that's better than nothing. He signed Cahill from Millwall. In fact 2 of his biggest signings were Miralles and Fallaini from the Greek league and Belgian, another 2 bargains.

Good info Delphic 20m is about 3 seasons budget for us. I'm sure most supporters wouldn't mind an 11 like that.
