Rolando Bianchi free agent still only 30 pretty decent scoring record in seria A. Thought's?

Believable5 Unbelievable10

Someone in serie A will snap him up no doubt! He's a crackin player but his age would put celtic off.

Agree1 Disagree0

The Bianchi who was a complete and utter flop at Manc City? No thanks.

Agree0 Disagree1

Bianchi a flop at City? By that reasoning we shouldn't have signed Chris Sutton (Chelsea) or John Hartson (arsenal).
T

Agree2 Disagree0

Yeah that same one, the one that was there about the same time Sammy flopped at city.

Agree0 Disagree0

The Chris Sutton who was a complete and utter flop at Chelsea? No thanks. Get a grip guys, some players don't fit at some clubs.

Agree0 Disagree0

Take him in a minute! 6ft 2 and at his peak, would be a handful in europe and NL has also mentioned he, s on the lookout for 1 or 2 experienced players?

Agree0 Disagree0

@3 well said. After what sutton and hartson did for celtic, we can't write anyone off. Henrik Larsson struggled in holland? Doubt ud say the same about him, (no thanks) as one post says, not everyone fits into a club some settle, some don't.

Hope wee Barry bannan is coming home to paradise.him On the left forrest on the right with brown commons in a diamond middle would be exciting stuff
Gordybhoy44

Believable7 Unbelievable18

So ledley not deserve a game any more?

Agree2 Disagree1

Hope not he's not good enough for us.barbosa please

Agree0 Disagree1

What about Joe Ledley?

Agree0 Disagree1

Still have ledley kayal mcgeoch Rogic we are a squad rotational team even sammy in left mid is good for me
Gordybhoy44

Agree1 Disagree0

Super joes a much better centre mid. Leave kyal on the bench or sell him. Henderson will step up this year also.

Agree1 Disagree1

Wee barry bannan would be a great player for us! If we manage tp pull this one off then its exciting times indeed!

Bannan looks quite good for me shows lot of potential, but that midfield would get blown away by the wind

Agree0 Disagree0

I wouldn't mind him, but not at the expense of ledley. without broon in CM he's our main man. We don't need anymore CM we have plenty plus our youth coming through, we just need a creative spark and that doesn't need to come from centre of the park, another winger is a must I feel, commons is good out there but no pace he's better in the middle or just off hoops, sammy is decent out there if he can be bothered playin which is rarely so we need someone to compete with sammy week in week out give him a boot up the backside when needed.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we need a hard man in midfield. Feel in certain games, especially if Broony is unfit we get bullied in the middle of the park. Looks like big Vic is definitely for the off, so we need a like for like replacement. Bannan does look like a good wee player, and is of a similar standard to the guys we've already got. If we go for him, I reckon it means the end for Super Joe or Kayal. We just need to wait and see, but in Neil we trust! Hail hail!

Agree0 Disagree0

Kennybhoy. Bannans totally different from Kayal and miles behind "sugar joe"
Bannan coming in (very doubtfull) doesn't displace any of these guys, although not fussed on Kayal, all huff and puff but going nowhere!

Agree0 Disagree0

Kayal has lost his va va voom as the french say he's a liability would let him go on a free right now

Agree0 Disagree0

Bannan is keech

Iain

Agree0 Disagree0

Bannan is bang average at best and to put him in the team at the expense of Joe is nothing short of ridiculous, Hamdawg67

Gary Hooper dropped his biggest hint yet that he will be at Celtic next season saying that he wants to beat his goal scoring talley from last season and wants to continue playing champions league with Celtic. But i'd rather sell him now and get a transfer fee rather than lose him next year for nothing, well unless he sings a new deal obviously. DundeeMichael

Believable15 Unbelievable8

Hopefully he will resign but if not as long as he knocks goals in champions league if he doesn't resign and celtics get 17mill from qualifying again then what's 5 mil free transfer loss between friends. He's been a good servant who is unlikely to get anywhere near England squad or a big EPL we will develop our own like Tony Watt and others in development squad and move forward

Agree1 Disagree0

I seem to be in the minority who wants him to stay one more season and helps get us to the CL. His goals could land is a huge windfall which would more than cover the few million we could get from selling him. Plus if I was Lenny I would be in his ear telling him if he does the business a decent club might take him on a free and give him top wages. A win-win for all concerned IMO

A could see him signing a new contract now. Apparently there is a decent amount off wages on the table for him.
Jordi Bhoy.

Agree2 Disagree0

I think most people would like him to stay, but are getting fed up with the way its dragging on that's the problem,,,, deep river bhoy

Agree2 Disagree0

I totally agree I want him to stay too. Hence my post above

Agree2 Disagree0

I hope he stays, always have done! No gamble with him, will always score goals and possibly help to get to group stages of CL. He could help bring in another 15mil then go for free which I would take as realistically anybody else coming in (given the amount of money were unwilling to spend) is a gamble!
On the downside its Hoopers first interview since coming back from pre-season, he's wearing the hoops, he's got to make it sound good hasn't he.I would use some of the Wanyama money to pay Hooper extra wages but I still expect him to be on his way :(

Bigbadjohn

Agree1 Disagree0

And he didn't say he wanted to play CL football with Celtic he just "I want to play CL football again" a well rehearsed statement.

Bigbadjohn

Agree0 Disagree0

Just seen that on Celtic fc website. Hope he signs a contract extension. Covers all the bases for everyone, and into the bargin he's the best goal scorer we've had at the club for years. Ian L

is it jist me your is it mibee the fact thit he kin sine a pre contract wae emdy it xmas?
n poakit the 5 mill thit we wur gettin?

Agree0 Disagree0

I would like him to stay but only if he signs a new contract 5m can buy another player who can score goals in the cl, I love hooper but its bad business to have him for another year then leave for free with a big hole to fill for us

SOS BHOY

Agree0 Disagree0

I like Hooper a lot but he needs to sign a contract extension or be sold rather than leave on a Bosman next summer. In retrospect he should have gone to Norwich in January because he has done very little (other than trip over his bottom lip) since. He obviously prefers CL football to slumming it with Hull and Reading so, short of a better offer, he's here to stay. If he does, where does that leave Stokes?

Agree0 Disagree0

Aye he can sign a pre contract in the nxt window, but will get knowhere near 5mil!
1mil max and a decent wage, which is still worth hanging on for?.
If we only get 4/5 mil for him I'd rather keep him and his goals to help get us to champs lge and he can go for free.
Would love him to sign an extension on a well earned increase and that would still command a decent fee for him when the time comes again.

Bigbadjohn

Agree0 Disagree0

If he doesn't sign another contract he has to go. I would keep him for CL qualifiers and sell him before the close of the window. If he is willing to sign a contract to make him a top earner we should also include a buy out clause so he gets his move at the end of next season and we get what we want money wise.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes at it he's wanting to run his contract down.renew or be sold can't afford to lose fee, we should have sold him in january

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't understand all the talk about we can't let him go for free and having personal pops at him. I'd say we've already had our £2m worth out of him, and then some. If he stays one more season he's pretty much sure fire to reach 100 Celtic goals and I wouldn't dream of bearing a grudge against someone who had served the club so well. Hail Hail
Kevbhoy {Ed007's Note - So the first chance we have to show how well our business model works (buy young, hungry players, let them make a name for themselves then sell at a profit) will fall flat on it's face at it's first proper chance. That should set us up well for future transfer negotiations, every young player in the land will want to sign for us then leave on a Bosman. Oh and it will be more than £2 million, add the additional £2.4 million plus the add ons, his wages and other costs and it comes to a lot more than £2m, probably nearer double that. No player is bigger than CFC and everyone of them should be used to better the long-term future of the club/team.}

Agree0 Disagree0

He didn't want to go in January. He was getting rid of his agent at the end of January, so didn't want to move until his new agent was in place. I hope he signs an extension, ensuring the club get a decent fee, he gets a pay rise and he scires rhe goals that gets us into the CL again. Then he can go with most folks blessing.
JD

Agree0 Disagree0

I know what you're saying Ed but I don't see the point in selling just for the sake of it. I think we're a stronger team with Hooper up front and Ki was the proof that our business model works I think you'll find. There are plenty of players in our squad who we can sell for big profit but if you gave me the choice between having him or not having him then I'd choose having him. There are other assets we can offload to keepis in a good financial position.
Kevbhoy {Ed007's Note - Ki wasn't exactly a first team regular though was he, the club received an offer they couldn't say no to for a fringe player. We already got bitched with the way Larsson left and now fans wanting to allow Hooper to leave for free is preposterous. If PL allows it to happen it will be a huge mistake and will come back to haunt him in future contract negotiations with other players. PL needs to play hard-ball and show that the club won't allow itself to be used in such a manner. If clubs like Arsenal can do it with the likes of Nasri I'm sure we should be able to do it with players, sign a new deal or you will be sold.}

Agree0 Disagree0

How can we force someone to leave? He's only honouring his contract at worst.
Stevo dundee

Agree0 Disagree0

I've actually come round to the idea of keeping Hooper even if he doesn't sign a new deal. If we are selling Wanyama then we can afford to lose Hooper for free. Scunthorpe are due 15-20% through a sell on anyways and at 2.2 million we have well and truly had our money's worth and Hooper isn't even on 15k a week as he has never signed any extension or improved deals since he's been at Celtic. It could be around 11-12k a week. I say keep him and when he fires us into the Champions League there isn't a sane minded Celtic supporter who could begrudge the guy going on a free and no doubt a bigger club that ones being touted as potential suiters.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fantastic points here Ed, which is why I love this site! I was all for keeping Hooper until his contract runs down until you pointed out the standard this would set. If Celtic allow this with Hooper what's to say players like Forster, Wanyama, van dijk, kayal, ledley etc won't just do the same. Our business model would be failing if this occurred! Hooper needs to sign a new contract or go, and that's coming from one of Hoopers biggest fans!
Cheers Ed!

Faithful-thru-n-thru

Agree0 Disagree0

Some great points made here. I think Hooper is the best striker we have had at the club in a long time. I was keen to hold on to him for another year at the cost of him walking free but after reading Ed's point of how it would upset the business model, I agree he should sign an extension or be sold. You simply can't have a player of his ability able to leave the club for nothing.

Going with sly sports news. Garry Hooper looks like he could be ready to stay after talking about wanting to play in the champions league next year and beating his scoring record from last year. Good news bhoys.

He ed, is Barbosa really a free agent? Seen a few people comment saying he is but never seen anything else on other websites. {Ed007's Note - His contract is showing up as it expired on 30th June 2013.}

Believable5 Unbelievable0

This lad has to be snapped up then he is a good player and would be perfect for the CL games lots of experience and a free agent c'mon Lennon you wanted this lad before now you can have him.

Celtic will use any money they receive for Gary Hooper to replace him with Alfre Finnbogason of Heerenveen. The Icelandic striker joined the Dutch outfit last summer and scored 28 goals in 33 appearances during his first season with the club. At 24 years of age, Finnbogason is seen as an ideal replacement for Hooper and the prospect of Champions League football is said to be very attractive for him.

Believable4 Unbelievable11

Would be a logical target toi go for. Much longer in the eredivisie, and he will become a target for richer clubs than us. jean-Pierre Laguerre

Agree0 Disagree0

We could have got him last season for 1mill so can't see us paying 5-6 mill now,,,, deep river bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Some of his background at one point could have led to a move to celtic, but as usual teams miss the boat with not wanting to pay the money at the time, unfortunately for Celtic now is. His transfer fee will 3 times what it was when we first looked at him!
He's maybe not got bigger options just now be he's got better options!
The guy would score for fun here and be a new hero possibly! Most scouting teams will know who he is now but who will move first?

Bigbadjohn

Agree0 Disagree0

I wish this is true.! The guy has a lot better scoring record that Hooper ever will.

Agree0 Disagree0

We missed the boat on this guy by our usual hesitation and now we won't pay the going rate and as been mentioned there is much more competition. With Hooper hinting he may stay it looks hypothetical anyway?
But if Stokes or Sammy were to go.

Steven Mouyokolo has signed a one-year contract with Celtic. James McFadden is expected to be the next addition with a two-year deal lined up for the midfielder.

Believable7 Unbelievable23

Please not McFuddy

Agree1 Disagree0

First part is correct. McFadden part isn't was in paper the other day going to Motherwell on same contract. As for the bannan story. More likely to sign eanmon bannon. He could cross a ball talk of signing bannan is "back to the future" living in the past. Next we will be lining up Anton Rogan for our next defence shore up. Where do people get these rumours

Agree0 Disagree1

I just heard no one is going and another 2 players coming in, GH and VW staying Celtic just got stronger.

Agree0 Disagree1

VW will be disappointed as he believed a big EPL club would come calling. They haven't (yet) but I think unlikely that any will and his choice will remain Southampton or Cardiff. GH same boat noone have come in he thought Spurs but got Norwich. Delia cooks some wonderful pre match meals so either sign up for the champs and get CL football or bolt and hang on to delias apron strings.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mcfadden is signin a new deal with motherwell, celtic don't want to gamble on his fitness (same reason we didn't try sign him last time) read some papers before u spout mince! As for VW and GH they won't get a bigger team than celtic at the min, big vic needs to stay and play CL football if he wants his big team move. hooper will never play for a spurs or better, he will always have to settle for a norwich or west brom. They need to have a wee think about thing4, if they jump ship too quick they WILL regret it!

Agree0 Disagree0

Why is VW disappointed? Why did he think a big EPL club was after him? His agent giving him bad advice I believe, no-one from the big teams down south has ever mentioned VW its all been his agent, his agent has linked him with big clubs no-one else so if he is disappointed he needs to look at his agent, because now I feel his agent has made it hard for him to stay with celtic with his comments last week or week before, not many of the faithful I know are willing to forgive him for slagging celtic off in the way that he did.

Agree0 Disagree0

You are possibly correct about agent creating speculation about big EPL with arsenal and Liverpool regularly bring spoken about for VW. I think inside he would have hoped that speculation was true don't you? I think if he goes to Southampton and performs then there could be a chance. One swallow doesn't make a summer (or something like that) which is exactly VW a few good games in CL and SPL won't make top 6 EPL come calling at this stage. I think celtic are prepared to wait it out till jan or at most next summer depending on the level of success in this years CL campaign. As for hoops to be honest I think he should be made a top earner and keep him with a contract option to sell him if a club better than Norwich comes in. That way he can go when it suits as well as getting a good wage to reflect his status. After all he is worth it and we can't replace him like for like. I'd say to both players do what's right for club and player that way everyone's a winner

Agree0 Disagree0

I remember the last time mcFadden was linked with both celtic and the other mob across the city, mcFadden said, i'm not interested in the baggage that goes with them.I certainly wouldn, t welcome
him to celtic park and i'm sure many thousands of of others will be of the same mind.jimbhoy.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't believe it when people say that if VW went to a southampton and performed well he would get a move to a bigger club. seen too many players do the same thing, only to end up in championship a season or 2 later, there is only 1 player that went to EPL from SPL that doesn't look out of place and he's still waiting for a big move James Mc Carthy(spellin) he's been outstanding the past 3 years down south and is yet to leave wigan for a bigger club, always linked with moves away but nothing ever happens going to EPL isn't always the right move if u want a big club, too many of them look abroad. Vic will get his big move but I don't see it being in england. As for hooper I agree offer him the best contract we can as he is worth it, we won't replace his goals this summer that's for sure, unless lenny has a gem in his pocket, even at that lenny has said he doesn't want him sold this summer I think he will end up staying until jan.

Agree0 Disagree0

If Vic and Hooper stay I will be delighted. Sopotcelt.
